I was looking for a removable drive solution to my video and photo storage needs and this setup was perfect. I did have to purchase some software to set up raid but it works flawlessly. Very easy to set up.

I connected a 12GB Raid 5 ThunderBay 4 to my iMac Retina 5K via the Thunderbolt 2, and it rocks. I'm getting on average about 535-550MB/sec read/write bandwidth via BlackMagic Disk Test. The SoftRaid software is very flexible. In fact, I bought another ThunderBay 4, and I configured both units in one Raid 5 configuration, and it was getting over 1GB/sec reads.
