Excellent headphones for home

Jan 9, 2020

Excellent headphones for home use. They are open air and not close fitting, so they are not great for outdoor or commuter use. The trebles and basses are pretty well balanced, and are great for listening to classical, instrumental and jazz. These are not street music headphones, as they are closer to mid range on bass, and not amped up like on Beats or other brands...

Very good headphones, excellent sonic qualities. I find the clarity to be superb, and the comfort is quite good, too. Highly recommended. Price is reasonable, too.

Great for my Digital Piano

The open transparent soundstage and clarity give me a very realistic piano experience. A rich bass and crystal clear brilliant upper octaves. Very pleased with these!

Great legacy and sound quality!

What's really mesmerizing to me is the fact that Grado is a family business that runs for so many decades. SR80 itself doesn't feel cheap, or carelessly built. Just don't expect any premium feeling you get from other companies. This headphone sounds beautiful and natural. Clear high, solid but not crazy heavy bass and fair midrange performance. I would like the cable to be lighter in weight cause sometimes I feel the headphone dragging down by the super thick and secure cables. 9.5/10 for this product.

It's all been said. A bit different from my preferred Sony MD7506. Haven't used the Sonys since.

Best Sound for Value

Jun 7, 2017

Fantastic right out of the box, I found that these may need to be broken in normally after the first few days of using them in order to hear their full range of sound, or maybe that's just me. Any case, these are spectacular and there is no distortion whatsoever, and with these being open-backed they have that unique open ended live sound stage that closed-back headphones just don't have. Had to mod my phone case in order for the big cable end to... Show More

Grado SR80e

Mar 13, 2017

My Koss headphones finally bit the dust and started researching. Wanted something made in the USA and something with decent sound but not too expensive. Read about the Grado company and saw plenty of good reviews. I'm glad I did because these headphones cost more than I wanted to spend but they are worth every penny and more. Thanks Grado for giving me my money's worth and thanks to B&H Photo Video for fast shipping and easy shopping.

Best headphones for the price

Jan 11, 2017

Grado headphones are classic and they have earned a deserved reputation for delivering true value in their respective price category. Headphones are very well built and with sturdy cabling. These are designed for still listening not intended for active wearing. So if your a runner this is not the product for you. The only rub with Grado's has been their design can be fatiguing to wear because of the headband design. I did NOT find this. In fact I... Show More

I liked the sound a lot, but the jack turned out to be defective and I am trying to find out what my options are.

i a bit of a headphone enthusiast, being a musician. i have ultrasone studio headphones, westone w3 in-ear-monitors, blue mo-fis, and various others. i was stuck in NYC recently and needed some headphones that played a bit better with some studio gear i had picked up, so i decided to take a chance on the GRADO SR80es. i'd heard about grados for years, but hadn't wanted to play around with open-back headphones. as soon as i tried them on in B&H i ... Really Nice Sounding Headphones

Mar 21, 2016

Bought these after reading a few reviews that raved about the sound quality. Fit is a little snug right out of the box and the foam pads are firm but I expect that to change for the better over time. Prior to this review, I've spent a few hours listening to rock, electronic, jazz and classical music in my iTunes library and they sound really good. Nice bass, clean clear treble. No problem handling high volumes. Was initially thinking four stars d... Show More

Excellent Sound

Dec 29, 2015

I purchased this for my son after reading the many reviews on B&H and other sites. His intended use was on his laptop while studying. The headphones arrived and sound fantastic and are comfortable to wear and are quite light. The sounds are accurate but are not overly booming with bass like many that are out there. The bass is accurate and crisp. I purchased them knowing that they were on ear headphones and I hoped he would like this style, but h... Show More

Good quality sound for the price. I use it with my amplified phone. The head phones with my hearing aids help with me understanding the party on the other side of the phone.

Incredible, Realistic Sound Reproduction

Oct 28, 2015

As a classical choral musician, I search for the details within a piece of music to differentiate the good from the great from the best. These Grado SR80e headphones allow the smallest details to be conveyed accurately -- to the artist's delight, or possibly to their dismay. The open-back design allows for the ambiance of one's space to join the musical expression intended by the artist. It's the most accurate, pleasing, unadulturated sound experience I've had. Needless to say, these come very highly recommended.

Can you hear me, now? GRADO is the best!

Aug 18, 2015

I have my Grado Prestige Series SR80e Headphones plugged into my Mac at all times. I have a varied taste in music and these headphones make all my musical choices come through better than ever. I can hear background singers and instruments I never could before. Amazing. And the headphones are completely comfortable to wear for hour after hour. Which is great for all my uses for them on my computer.

Quality listening experience

Jul 27, 2015

I listen to my stereo receiver and also Premium movie channels. My wife and children (two 75# Dobermans) don't like the volume too high. With these headphones, the sound is clear, crisp, and a treat for me. Now when I have the house to myself, I still listen with these new headphones. It's like being there live. Most appreciated.

Best buy

Jul 21, 2015

As an owner of the SR60's I wasn't expected a tremendous difference in the sound, clarity and dynamics with the SR80e. I am still breaking this pair in so it will be awhile before I can note any specific characteristics not heard in my SR60s. I expect the quality and clarity to be the same so time will tell if these prove to be superior to the listening experience I've come to expect.

Poor build quality, decent sound

May 27, 2015

When these headphones arrived, I was disappointed. The casing just looks cheap. The whole unit looks poorly made; in fact one housing cover was attached at a strange angle, which was aesthetically unappealing. On top of that they are much larger and bulkier than I expected. All in all, not for me. These headphones don't feel up to par in build quality. I mean they sound okay, but the whole unit just looks and feels so much cheaper than I expected, especially considering what I paid for it.

A gem inside a cardboard box

Jan 22, 2015

The music that comes out of these $ headphones is just phenomenal especially when you use it with an amplifier. At the moment, I'm using it with the FiiO E6 and it's just absolutely fantastic. Even in Grado's consumer-friendly products (to describe it as low-tier is an insult to the product. There is nothing low about it except the crisp bass that comes out of these cans), you can tell that the company has never skimped in quality. The SR80e is a... Show More
