Well designed headphones at a fair price

Feb 1, 2011

I was looking for a reasonably priced headphone set to use with my Roland D-50 synth and Boss BR-600 digital recorder. The Roland RH-5 at less than forty dollars seemed like a logical choice based on past experience with other gear from this manufacturer. Actually though, I made the decision to purchase the RH-5 headphones because of the wide frequency response specification (10-22,000 Hz) for this model. Other brand headphones in this price rang... Won't buy another pair.

These headphones sound pretty solid. Not the best headphones I've ever heard, but for the price, they have a nice dynamic range. Unfortunetely they're cheap and brittle speakers. I had 2 pairs of headphones plugged into my mixer. One of these and a cheap $ pair of sony's. I got a pretty loud signal through the mixer that clipped for about 20 seconds. Not extreme clipping, but just into the red zone. Well the cheap sony's made it just fine, but I ... Show More

Not bad for the price

Apr 15, 2011

I recently bought these to replace some Sony's I had for years. I didn't want to spend too much but still wanted some decent headphones. I mainly use these to listen to my ipod and to plug into a small practice amp. The sound quality is decent but gets distorted if you try to push the volume well before the max. I don't use them like this but I wanted to see their potential. They are very light weight and comfortable, you can hardly tell that you have them on. Over all they are about what I expected for the price however I prefer the sonys that they replaced which were in the same price range.

Great choice for the price

We purchased these headphones because we haven't been satisfied with the sound of other headphones when using our Yamaha Clavinova. These RH-5 do sound somewhat better than others (and are much more comfortable for long term playing), but they still don't give the same sound as hearing the piano play without headphones. It's possible that the Clavinova is the culpret and not the headphones. The comfort itself is worth a great deal of consideration when compared to other phones. For the price, I think this is a great choice

Quality inexpensive session headphones

Feb 2, 2011

The Roland RH-5 headphones are inexpensive quality headphones that are great sounding, closed, over the ear, lite weight and comfortable. The price is low enough that several won't brake your bank account. The cord is a heavy duty cord that should take quite a bit of stress. They work nicely as phones for recording sessions with multiple muscians.

So far these headphones are the bomb.

I use these headphone to learn tunes, very good response and can hear keyboard parts clearly. They are made cheap but I guess you get what you pay for. The drivers are great but the outsdes are cheap don't know how long they will last.

Good value

Apr 11, 2011

Have had this headphone for a couple of weeks now. The sound is much better than another brand headphone I have. Considering the price, I think it is a good buy. One minor point is I need to take it off after a few hours of listening.

Outstanding!

I wasn't expecting a whole lot seeing as its kind of lower on the series scale, but I was impressed with its power! It captures lows beautifully as well as highs. Very loud! Very happy with the purchase.

Not so good

Sound flat, and are very cheaply made. I was looking for a budgeted alternative for IFB, or secondary monitoring they didn't work out well.

The headphones are simple in design but have amazingly crisp sound quality. They were delivered within 3-4 days of ordering.
