Perfect In-Ear headphones !!!

Jul 2, 2013

I purchased the Etymotic Research ER-4PT because I was going on a plane trip and I wanted the maximum passive noise isolation and the clearest sound reproduction possible. These ER-4PT headphones did not disappoint. Once in the ear, most noise, specially plane engine noise, disappeared and I could hear my music clearly. You will pay a premium for this luxury but it is well worth it since the clarity of sound is awesome. They don't have the extrava... Show More

Fabulous... an audiophile delight!

Jan 7, 2016

I've had these for few weeks now and I am strictly comparing these to a more pricier Grado GR10e. For me, and this is purely subjective from my preference listening to various music genre. To me, honestly, this headphone is more livelier than the GR10e. For various reasons, the sounds is more livelier than the GR10e. Best that I can explain is like this; if I had to compare the two IEM's the 4PT is more like day break and the GR10e is the dusk --... Show More

Comfortable and powerful

May 31, 2015

I have worn these: - on stage to monitor playing my own instrument = Awesome - in coffee shops to focus on completing work projects while completely blocking out people talking in distracting shrill and loud voices = Success - to monitor video camera audio feed = Not So Good These earbud headphones clean up the sound a bit. Sounds perfect! That makes them great for every purpose other than listening for audio noise and distortion. They are great ... Show More

Great Sound Quality, Ergonomics lacking

Aug 19, 2013

I'm an acoustics professional with a pro audio background, and after much research and comparative listening, the ER-4's are the clear winner on the IEM market. The frequency balance is as close to flat as I've found in an IEM and compares favorably to my reference headphones and loudspeakers including HD650's and Focal monitors. The soundstage, isolation, and dynamics are as good as more expensive IEM's I've tried. The only drawback is the physi... Show More

Pricey

Dec 27, 2016

To be fair, these do sound great. I'm not so much impressed by the sound itself, but the sound in this size of headphones. However, while I'd gladly pay for amazing sound, the sound of these are not wow. If I had the choice over again I'd most certainly pay 1/2 the price for any of the models in 1/2 priced range. To me, the sound coming from ear bud headphones like these can only be so good, thus I believe these have gone well beyond the maximum ... Show More

Immersive sound experience

Nov 9, 2012

I lost my prized HF5's and decided to make the leap to the ER-4pt's. I am pleased with my choice. These have a more robust construction than the HR5s, which felt dainty in comparison. The sound is a little more accurate and immersive than the HR5's. I love to close my eyes and being able to visualizes the musicians playing the individual instruments rather than the coarse overview of the music that I got from every other headphones I have owned. I am very pleased with these accurate, pocket friendly earphones.

Real enjoyment.

Excellent balanced sound. As usual : best sound with good source and good headphone amp. That's the best earbuds i've ever owned compared to high end models (Grado GR10: harsh sound even after a long break in, Senheiser Momentum in-ear not balanced: too much bass and less refined sound. I use ER-4PT with M2TECH Hiface DAC, the EXCELLENT GRADO HEADPHONE AMP RA1(battery powered is the best) and Iphone or Mac: wonderful sound, wide, balanced, precise, natural.

Superb!

Re- purchased again, as I've had them before since the 90ties. Nothing comes close for the money, esp. for classical and jazz. I have never tried IEMs for many hundreds of dollars more, but I don't see how they can be magnitudes better. And the isolation can't be beat.

Most neutral and accurate IEM ever used. Use it with laptop at work and iPod. Sounds better with good lossless source.

Used with my Fiio X5. Very smooth sound, no frequency aberrations. Better fit with Comply foam ear plugs.
