Im the type of audiophile who buys the best gear that I can actually realistically afford. That said, this is the most expensive piece of audiophile gear Ive ever used. Great DAC
I tried out at home both the xDSD and the FiiO Q5. Both are excellent, and choice is a matter of relatively fine points. Both sound great, the Q5 perhaps a bit more defined but the xDSD warmer and more pleasing for my ears. xDSD has more robust bluetooth; and I like its 3D effect which subtly widens the soundstage without sounding artificial. Packed with features for such a small device. Dac section sounds more natural than my ess. Plenty of power to drive over ears. Good value overall.
