Budget Studio Condenser!

Feb 10, 2012

I've been doing broadcast voiceovers since 1968. I bought my first B-1 about 7 years ago strictly for voiceover work and it quickly became one of my favorite voiceover microphones for soft spoken word recording. The only microphone I like nearly as well for voiceover work is the Shure SM7B which costs many times more and has a subdued output compared to the B-1, so I use the SM7B for stronger voicings. I also have been playing in a band for about... Show More

Amazing Value

This is my first real condenser mic that isn't USB powered for my small little project studio. For the price, I wasn't expecting much, but was blown away by the all around quality of the mic. First of all, the construction quality is great. The metal used in the capsule seems very durable. The included shock mount and case are also very sturdy as well. The mic has a very clear and transparent sound, which is great for recording vocals and acousti... Show More

Very bright, great for value

Mar 14, 2012

This is my first condenser mic I own, while I also own a shure sm58. It sounds very bright comparing to the sm58, may be because it's a condenser, but a little less warmth, and it also pick up much more ambient noise then the sm58, the polar pattern itsn't that polar to eliminate the other noise(I guess it might be fixed if I own a soundproofed room?since I don't have one and I have got a computer running in my bedroom where the recording take pl... Hear it for yourself!!!!!

Apr 4, 2009

for the price......it don't get better than this. I was skeptical about purchasing this product. when I first used it to record guitars and compared it to my Shure KSM32/SL microphone it was unbelievable. when it was used to record and capture vocals and precaution there was little and or no Equalization done. I have used this in the studio for little over a year. it is not the best mic, but the frequency response on this mic is worth the buck.

Works good so far.

I haven't used this very much yet, but the performance has been good for what I've done. I recorded my acoustic guitar and it sounds way better than my electric-acoustic does plugged straight in! Vocals sound very clear and give a great raw track to enhance with software. The case is nice, though I don't use the mount or cover so its wasted space.

I use this mic with the Alesis Multimix 8 and I like it alot. With the levels set right on the mixer I can heartalking in almost any room of the my house. On the otherhand I can adjust to just hear only in close proximity tothe microphone. It's a good clear condenser for the price.

Perfect Budget Mic

Jul 15, 2010

We used this mic to record voice-overs for an animation project. The sound was crystal clear and the mic was easy to work with. I am a recording novice, so I can't speak to how it compares with other high-end equipment. But to my untrained ears it passes with flying colors.

Much quality for this price

Feb 2, 2011

I was searching for a good quality microphone to use at my home. But, all expensive ones are designed for professionals; so B-1 was my choice, my perfect choice. Is very easy to install and use. Honestly? Nothing is bad with this mic.

Great Value

Good mic at this price point, low cut and high-pass switch, solid construction, nice sound quality, and the shock mount, pop filter and rugged case just add to the value.

Great Mic and Great Price

Feb 25, 2013

Really really good mic, I live in quite a noisy area and it doesn't pick up any of the outside noise (just face the mic away from the noisiest part of the room).

Great plug and play mic

We use these for our elementary school musicals and they supplement the solo mics perfectly. They pick up the kids with easy set up and no problems.
