Ok for Budget Video

Mar 14, 2018

This is the 2nd one of these that Ive owned in my video business. Its not the best for distance shoots like weddings but for close, interview style shoots its pretty good. Affordable and durable for sure. I would have rather upgraded to the Rode wireless videomaker or a Sony wireless, both which Ive owned before and are far better. Since this was needed on a budget, it's great for what I needed and will make a nice backup system in the future. (S... Show More

Great Lav Mic

Nov 2, 2016

This lav mic is just what I needed and works great with any video camera that has a mic input. It also works with the Beachtek Mic adapters that have an aux input. I wish there was a low battery indicator but the sound very clear. Great Lav for anyone going wireless.

2 Years; No Issues

Mar 21, 2016

On my previous marketing team we used the Sennheiser lav systems, which are exceptional, but weren't available with my more recent budget. I shopped awhile until I found these from Audio-Technica, and I'm glad I did. My shoots typically involve experts doing the talking head thing, and these are perfect for that, but then I wouldn't expect interference across an office. Where I was impressed was with their performance in situations where I was sh... Show More

Great Little Microphones!

Nov 25, 2015

I use a couple of these mics for documentary/industrial interviews and location work. I carry two all the time just in case, and I've broken a couple over the last ten years (my fault), but they are inexpensive and dependable. They are not intended for long range use but at 50-75 feet they have proven to be quite reliable. There is a more expensive version available, but these have been all I need. I use Sennheiser ME-66 shotguns in a couple of lengths and with a little tweaking these AT Pro88Ws actually cut quite well with the location work.

Simple, compact and reliable

Nov 18, 2015

We recently bought a second Pro88W system for our videography needs. Lightweight, reliable and great quality sound. For a small university video operations like ours, this offers us an affordable, easy to use sound system that adds a huge layer of professionalism to our videos.

Produces Completely Useless Audio

Oct 19, 2015

If I could put 0 stars I would. It's so conducive to interference that in most environments that I've tried to use it, it produces horrible buzzing. I've never been able to use the audio recorded from this mic. Save your money towards something better.

Great Sound But Stay Close

Not great from the distance advertised. I couldn't stray much farther than 15' before sound started to distort a bit.

Failed to work on first use

Jun 11, 2014

Finally got a chance to use this mic last week and I could not get it to work. Lucky I brought my old mic. Finally got a chance to troubleshoot it and discovered the microphone was the culprit. When I hooked the system up to another mic it worked fine. I even tried adjusting up the gain all of the way I could to no avail.

I purchased a second mic for my church!

Jun 8, 2014

I use the microphone to do video interviews. I was so impressed I purchased a second one to give to my church for their media team. Simple to use and the sound is a must for professional sounding video content.

Average sound quality at a Good price

Jun 6, 2014

A great way to record on the cheap. The line noise/ hissing is typical of this type of PA system. For an extra $$I could have a more Pro level quality, but I'm good with Noise removal, so for Youtube delivery this was a good buy, I have two of these with same Frequency.

Best Transmitter and reciever for the $

Mar 5, 2014

This is a great product. I was using this to record sound to my video camera. The guy that was wearing the microphone drop it like five times. I was sure it was broken because I couldn't get any sound out the line jack. come to find out the whole time it was the cable. Make sure you keep extra cable around and you should be fine.

Terrible wireless system!

Dec 4, 2013

I bought two of these to use together on a shoot and they were terrible. Whenever you moved near the other wireless receiver or the studio lights i got a terrible buzzing.Needless to say my audio on this shoot was garbage and I had to reshoot. This cost me money... Should have just spent more money I guess or got a batter brand.

buy a wired mic instead

Nov 7, 2013

I was going to write a long story of the problems I had with this mic, but I'm going to keep it simple, bought 2 used them, have to re-shoot interview because audio is unusable because of hiss, pops, drop outs, & interference yiiiikes!!!!!!

Great system for remote camera work

Nov 4, 2013

Use this mic with remote video production on the streets. Very little of no interference. Good quality as well. Does not sound like you are speaking for outer space like many Bluetooth mics do!

Been Using them for Years

Oct 17, 2013

For the price you simply can't beat it! It does a great job for interviews. The range on it is not great, and sometimes you'll pick up some interference, but 9/10 I have no problems and the sound is 100 times better than using a shotgun mic for documentary type videos.

Excellent

Aug 13, 2013

Needed to record voice with my DSLR on a windy site and the sound was perfect. Have done it recently only with the camera mic and the person needed to shout to be heard, so huge difference. The price excelent for what I could afford and for the purpose of the recordings. Dont know about the battery use for there were short takes, but didnt need the use of backup.

Good for Cheap

Apr 9, 2013

Overall the sound quality is pretty good for the price range. The bodies of the transmitter and receiver feel cheap, especially the battery cover. But it hasn't broken yet, so it's probably fine. The audio was doing some weird things. Jumping back and forth between stereo and mono, but that was easy enough to fix in post. Buying a mic like this, you'd have to split the right channel to stereo anyway.

Works extremely well if mic is stationary, but when it is clipped on a lapel or somewhere on clothing there is static when the person moves around.

Sounds Excellent for Voice

Jan 2, 2013

I use the Pro 88W to record video tutorials. I connect the receiever directly to the input on my Kodak Zi8 video recorder, and the audio is very clear. I had to attenuate the signal at the Zi8 as the level was too hot going in, but once I had the right levels dialed in everything sounded awesome. I have yet to push the range. I am usually no further than 15 feet from the receiver, but so far the Pro 88W rocks.

Great mic if used properly

Jul 25, 2012

It gets the job done and is very reasonably (cheap) for a lavalier mic and wireless transmitter and receiver for less then the cost of most microphones alone. We have used it for demonstration videos with the demonstrator talking into the mic and then transmitting the audio signal to the video camera. It works great for this type of use where you want to capture someone speaking but you have to understand its limitations as with any piece of equi... Show More
