Not what I was expecting

Dec 19, 2012

Overview says, The ADPF08SF will fit into most any decor with its high-quality gloss black frame. when in fact it is a cheap looking plastic frame with a matte finish. I bought 3 of these in December, 2012 from B&H and all three have the same frame finish. I notified B&H about this so it might change in the description in the future. Also, one that I received has a calendar/clock with auto turn-on, turn-off feature. The other 2 do not. Same model... Show More

Nice photo frame.

Jan 4, 2011

Seems like this is about the cheapest one you can get and still get decent quality. I had bought another one for $25 downtown, but it was virtually junk, terrible picture quality and I returned it - the only good thing about that one was that you could set it for any timed interval, whereas for this one you're limited to 15, 30, 45 second intervals, then minutes, etc. Got it for my mom (of course) and hope the parents are able to actually plug it... Visually impaired

Dec 3, 2019

I decided to get this as a surprise for after taking some family portraits. I would upload the photos to a USB and would be able to preview some of their photos. I brought it out to test and plugged in the power and instantly noticed that the wire would stick out the right side of the frame, but sure whatever this is just power. Then plugged in my USB which is about 1 inch in length and that also stuck out the side of the frame like an eyesore. F... Show More

1st and Replacement unit Dead on Arrival

Jan 21, 2013

I purchased the first LED picture frame for my wife for Christmas to display photos of our first two grand daughters. The first unit arrived in time for Christmas but when I checked the display just before wrapping it, I found that it rattled and the display was dislodged. After an RMA for a replacement, the second unit arrived about the end of the first week of Jan. When checking this unit, it rattled and the display floated in the plastic bezel... Show More

Limited picture quality

Jun 11, 2011

I was looking for a simple frame which can show photos well. Although it does that, there're few major drawbacks... Being able to display only JPGs, it doesn't support Progressive JPG format. Besides that an image is blurry for 1-2 seconds after it was shown and for 1 second before the next image. It looks like the frame is trying to do so processing even when I prepared pictures in 800x600 to fit its resolution. This is very noticeable on high-q... Show More

Unimpressive

Jan 2, 2014

I purchased two of these as gifts setting one up for my mom with images loaded on a USB memory stick. The controls on back were difficult to navigate as I could not see them while manipulating the settings. I found switching back and forth between settings less than satisfactory. The image adjustment such as contrast, brightness and saturation were not effective resulting in ugly strange looking images. I restored the defaults which are pretty go... Show More

Product does NOT Autoplay

May 31, 2011

While this product has great picture quality -- it misses the key feature of every other digital frame I've purchased from Kodak, Sony, HP, and Pandigital. It WON'T AUTOPLAY pictures. Turning it on manually or through the automatic power on feature only displays the menu. You have to manually press the play button. This is close to useless without that feature. When I contacted Aluratek for a fix I was told The ADPF08SF will only turn ON but will ... Show More

Solid product for the price

Jan 22, 2013

Bought this for my 85 yr old father and loaded it full of family photos. The menu is easy to navigate, and--key for me--once a memory card is in the frame, as soon as you turn it on, the slideshow starts (exactly what I wanted, didn't want my father to have to work with the menu). The clarity and resolution are very good. There are various speeds for the slideshow (I might wish there were a few more options there, but that's quibbling really) and... Show More

A very nice and elegant gift

Aug 26, 2012

I got this as a gift for a family member. They really like it and it's a rather good choice for a gift because of its elegance. It has a good picture quality and has multiple inputs for different methods of display. I don't know how long the battery would last but it's a very interesting article on a coffee table or on the wall. The only thing that I see that would make this inferior to competition is its thickness. it is about 1 to 2 inches thick which really makes it stand out next to other old fashioned picture frames, in a bad way.

Don't buy this frame

Dec 14, 2013

For some inconceivable reason the designers of this frame thought it would be a good idea to have an icon pop up indicating the image is about to change. This serves no purpose and is extremely annoying when what you want to see are your pictures changing, not their icon popping up again and again. The menu button doesn't respond immediately; instead there's an annoying long wait, and when you finally get to the menu it's not intuitive how to change the settings, and it's poorly explained in the instructions.

I could take it or leave it.

Dec 27, 2016

The digital photo frame works and came in a timely fashion, but there is a pressure mark in the lower right corner of the screen about a 1/4 inch in size. As I received it only a couple of days before Christmas, I had no time to return it for a replacement. It was a gift for my Mother with pictures of my Brother who died last year. She loved it and did not notice the mark as she is not as picky as I am. I liked the price, but will probably look else where in the future.

Not Stellar - But Worth The Price

Jun 26, 2015

I purchased this to give to a friend that I had built something for and wanted to provide him with a photographic, chronological, journal of the building process. Make sure you resize your pictures to the required resolutions or you get nothing. The picture quality is very sharp and crisp with good color and contrast. The down side is the slideshow, it will only present in random order not sequential. May have been noted in the features, but if it was, I missed it.

A great value

Jan 9, 2012

First, 8 is a very good size for a photo frame that will stay on a mantle, desk, nightstand, dresser etc. This particular frame can be stood up portrait or landscape, and features a nice random dissolve feature between photos. The two things that differentiated this frame to me vs. the others was its very nicely designed exterior. And support of external memory rather than having a limited and more difficult to deal with built-in harddrive.

A small, but useful tool

May 15, 2014

I am a wedding and event photographer. I use it to display select images at my events and wedding ceremonies. It has received lots of review by persons attending these events. The bride and groom were very happy to see some of their images almost immediately as the ceremony unfolded. Its pricing makes it affordable and size makes it easy to setup. Although the body is solid, the screw on stand is delicate and broke off upon my second use.

Met my needs in a big way.

Jul 1, 2012

I purchased this to make an elderly relative's digital photographs from his entire life accessible. He fell in love with it. With incipient Alzhiemer's this is a great memory jogger for him. Am thinking of getting one for all our digital files. My only suggested improvement would be to have a random choice to show the photos, they always show in the same order through and start over from scratch if the machine is turned off.

The pictures look terriffic!

Feb 16, 2011

We use the product to give a life tribute DVD slideshow to our Cemetery and Funeral Home customers. these frames look expensive and highlight the photos not the frame. Our families love them. The drawback is the instruction book is not clear on how to use the memory in the frame so I con't have to give away a thumb drive. Can you help me? The frame never gives me the option to move the photos to the internal memory.

Aluratek Digital Photo Frame

May 28, 2017

This frame is easy to use, image quality is good, and the size (ratio) is perfect. I'm a photographer and altho it's for personal use, I wanted the best image quality possible and I'm quite satisfied. I had a bit of trouble with some images that weren't appearing on the screen but had no problem identifying the problem on the Aluratek's website. Overall this frame is far superior to the Kodak frame it replaced.

slight correction to my previous review - just not to mislead - the intervals can actually also be set for 5 seconds, and I think also 10 seconds, plus the other intervals of 15, 30, etc. and then various lengths of several minutes, up to an hour, if I recall. Whether using portrait photos or landscape arty shots, they all looked pretty good.

GOING BACK FOR A SECOND

May 25, 2018

I bought this as a gift for my sister's birthday and tried it out to make sure everything worked first. That's when I got hooked and can't wait to get another one for myself. Customizable to set times, landscape/portrait, etc. Would prefer a bit more comprehensive instructions and it takes a little patience to setup, but works well.

Very nice indeed

May 29, 2011

Very nice basic digital photo frame. I wasn't expecting any bells and whistles for this money, and didn't get disappointed at all. I really love the simplistic frame design. Just black, straight frame. For me, right what I was hoping for. Perhaps one thing I wish it had, is the ability to randomize the displayed photos.

Bought to put on display by guest register at church. Bright display, sharp, good resolution. Lacking some features, but works for what I bought it for. Note: When I custom make an 800x600 picture (the display's default resolution) the sides are cropped... the whole picture is not visible.

Digital Photo Frame not exactly what I hoped

Jan 17, 2017

Currently, this model does not contain a clock feature, where you can indicate what time the frame should turn on and off. Previously, this feature was included (I had received one as a gift approximately 1 year ago - I don't know where that one was purchased.) Otherwise, I like the frame.

I use this photo frame at my farmers market and trade show booth. People love to see photos of our ranch and lifestyle - the digital photo frame allows me to tell our story. I really like the higher resolution, but I wish I could get the photos to change faster than every 15 seconds.
