Gitzo GT3533LS Systematic Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod (Long)

UPC's:
I would buy this product again.
I had always heard Gitzo tripods were well made. After watching numerous YouTube reviews, I decided to give one a try. When I pulled it out of the box I was immediately impressed by the quality and design. My Gitzo and my Wimberley Gimbal head work well with my 150-600 mm lens. I fully expect this tripod to last a lifetime. My only complaint were the round tripod feet. It was hard for them to quickly lay flat. So, I changed them out with the rubber spiked feet which came with the tripod.. Much better !

Gitzo GT3533LS Systematic Series Tripod is excellent
This is an excellent tripod: very steady, the extra length is very good for photographers 6' and over, and reasonably light. The fact that the three legs meet at the top and there is no central post makes it more steady. The 3 series perhaps is not as strong and steady as the 5 series but the lighter weight is a plus if you are carrying it on a photography treck over your shoulder and it is very very steady. Not cheap but it should last a lifetime and you will be glad you have it.

The ultimate tripod!
I own eight tripods, four are carbon fiber. Thus is by far the best tripod I have ever owned. I shoot wildlfe, and this tripod handles my Nikon D4 with Sigma 300-800/5.6 admirably. It's a solid piece of equipment, yet isn't too heavy. It pairs well with my Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead. I would recommend this tripod to anyone who is serious about their photography, and is tired of searching for the ultimate tripod. Purchase this tripod, and your search will be over.

Amazing
This tripod is fantastic. I use it with a Canon 600mm f/4 and it handles it very well. I carry the lens on the tripod over my shoulder and feel totally secure. I use it with a Whimberley gimbal head. Really easy to extend and tighten the legs, and vise versa. Surprisingly light, even with with the large gimbal head attached. I'm 5'11, I don't use a center extension with this tripod and with the 600mm on the gimbal, all the way down, it sits just below my eye level.

difficult legs to extend.
It seems the wider the diameter of legs by Gitzo, the more difficult they are to extend/retract. I love my Explorer GT2641 and Traveller GT1545 but extending the widest two segments of this tripod are a real pain as the seem to get stuck. Even the wider locks are tough to rotate and securely lock. I'll see if I have better luck with an upcoming mountaineer order or maybe it's time to check out other brands that seem to be taking over the tripod market.

Built like a tank
My previous tripod was the Promaster 528 carbon fiber, which eventually fell apart after several years. This tripod is substantially bigger and beefier. Of course, it's slightly heavier as well, but the weight is not noticeable with what I am used to carrying. I like that I can carry it around with my camera attached with 100% confidence that my camera won't fall or move. Very satisfied so far. I hope it does a good job holding up over the years.

Best and last tripod
Recently went to Costa Rica with a Gitzo series 2. Many of my fellow photographers had the series 5 and it looked so great. When I got off the plane in Nashville I ordered the series 5. It is great. B/H got it to me in record time and with no hassles. It will be my last tripod. Handles my Nikon 500mm f4 just the way I have wanted. Not cheap but quality never is. I am using it now in Canada and will be using it for many years to come.

Gitzo Systematic
This has been a great tripod, yes it is on the heavy side but knowing this prior to the purchase was not a surprise. For the me, the other benefits were worth it over the total weight of the tripod. The ground level option is great, the option to buy a rapid center column was fine and I was able to put the head on that I wanted, not just accept what came with it. Its very sturdy, supports my camera and lens with no issues

Awesome Tripod
This is my first systematic Gitzo and so far I love it. It's sturdy, lightweight for the capacity and has the quality build you would expect from Gitzo. I like not having to invert a center column to get low shots and it is still plenty tall enough for me (6' talk) to shoot at eye level. I added the RRS leveling base because it is less expensive and does not protrude from the bottom like the Gitzo leveling base does.

love it
Took me a while to decide which tripod I want. Im glad I got this one. Its not super tall - yet taller than my eye level and I still have room to play after adding ballhead/gimbal and camera. I dont mind it longer lenght when closed. didnt need anything taller or shorter when closed as I have secondary carbon fiber tripod which is taller and is 4 sections. I really wanted 3 section with thick legs. I really like it.

Rock Solid
While I have not actually used this tripod yet, it seems very solid and stable. The legs extend well and open up easily. 2 caveats though. The set screw on the base for locking the camera is secured with Loctite and I cannot budge it. No problem as the base plate hugs my ball head well. Also, those strange feet, are great on level surfaces, but I have yet been able to switch them to the included more standard feet.

Astonishing heigh & quality at a cost
The thing is -- I reasoned with myself about the cost of this, and in the end, I said f* it, I'm gonna make this investment and never have to invest in a tripod again for a veery long time, if ever. Gitzo is even beyond the classic 535 sticks I used to own. This crazy things skies out at 9' and those lunar lander feet still feel like nothing can shake it at all. A monster in every way, including cost. Worth it.

Solid high quality tripod
This tripod deserves highest scores in all departments a tripod can score. I am 6'1 tall and this long version suits me perfectly. The tripod itself is very solid (I would say monumental). For my mirrorless camera and 70-200/2.8 as heaviest lens this even might be an overkill but with its built quality this tripod should last a lifetime and will be good enough if I decide to get even heavier lenses.

Great Tripod!!
I wanted a good tripod that would handle any situation that I would come across while shooting, I wanted a bowl and it was a breeze to set-up. The quality and stability are exceptional. I was hesitant about spending as much as I did for the tripod, but know that I have seen and used this quality product, I have no regrets on this purchase. I highly recommend the Gitzo tripod.

Great product!
I bought this for my new Nikon 400mm 2.8 lens and man I can't be more satisfied. Extremely lightweight and easy to handle. Quick to set up and I especially love the fact that it goes from 68 inches down to 3 inches so you can stand sit or lie down on your belly and shoot if that's what the situation demands. I am a hobbyist but appreciate quality products.

Light and solid
Solid, light and easy to set up. It is nice that the tripod comes with a bag that has room for the tripod with a Berlebach 553 head attached, so it can be used to carry the tripod and head in the field; the only improvement I suggest is the addition of a carrying strap or handle to the bag. That would save the cost and extra weight of a carrying case.

solid and so worth the price
The price was a huge hurdle for me but once I got my tripod in hand and started using it I'm glad I made the purchase. I love the hight and am amazed at how solid of a base it makes for my camera. I have paired this with Wimberley Wh-200 so we'll see what hiking with it is like soon but so far the money I've shelled out for this is more than worth it!

Gitzo Magic!!
This is my first Gitzo tripod and I'm so excited. This is a fantastic tripod I purchased for use with my gimbal head and 500mm lens for shooting wildlife! It is ultra sturdy and lightweight. It's a big tripod, so I won't be hiking with it, but I wouldn't mind walking around with my camera and lens onboard. Now it's time for a hiking tripod!

Super Steady
I bought this tripod for the extra height it provides and to shoot in windy conditions. It is more stable and resistant to vibration than all other tripods I have used, with the exception of 13+lbs wood tripods I have owned previously (which dont go near as high, are not as versatile, and are much more difficult to carry into the field ).

This thing doesn't tip!
After tipping over my former tripod (and breaking a lens in the fall), it was obvious I needed to up my game and get a serious tripod. At first, I though the funky little feet would be a nuisance but they are quite stabilizing. And just in case you don't like the funky feet, it comes with an extra set of the rubber tipped ones.

I would buy this again
This is a great tripod! it is super stable and damps vibration instantly. It is a little on the heavy side but that is expected and needed for great photos! The leg locks work great and easy to adjust. The legs can be spread out so I can get down low for close-up photos of nature. Overall a great tripod!

Just get it
Ive used a Manfrotto aluminum tripod for more than 7 years but this Gitzo is a huge step up in engineering and quality. Currently using it with a Wimberley 200 and a RRS BH-55 (with lenses from 300mm to 600 mm) and could not be happier. These are once in a lifetime purchases - do it right and do it once.

Best purchase of the year
I had rough time deciding which tripod to choose as I already own one (taller, more compact). But Im glad I chose this model - 3 sections - its a solid piece of art. Way taller than I need it, so I still have lots of room to play. Works like a charm with RRS BH-55 and Wimberley gimbal.

Perfection
Easily the best tripod Ive owned. Unbelievably rigid and lightweight. The removable central plate also made it possible to use a custom adapter to mount my iOptron SkyGuider with ease. That has saved me 11+ pounds in transport weight compared with the steel tripod supplied by iOptron.
