Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod Deluxe Kit 9

Great head for landscapes and fixed images.
I've enjoyed using this head on an old Manfrotto tripod. It's ver easy to use for fixed images. If you needed to shoot moving vertical objects it may be difficult. Panning lefts or right is no problem. Great for macro photography especially coupled with the Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens I use to have an old Manfrotto squeeze handle head that was real nice for a while, but for macro shots this system was not getting it done.

Awesome Head, I LOVE IT!!!!
I love this Head! It's simply awesome. It's a VERY fast positioning head, just release the grip and shoot, I use it with a Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 PRO CARBON FIBER TRIPOD. The unit together supports my 5D MKII and my EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Autofocus Lens with ease. I use it mostly for macro, low light, landscape photography. Great quality build and high quality item as you would come to expect of the Manfrotto items and love it.

Great head for event photography.
I got this head to attach to a monopod because I like the grip/joystick style, it really complements the mobility of a monopod. It is a great for run and gun style of photography. I prefer this model of joystick style head because you can take the mounting assembly and attach it vertical on top of the handle adding more ease of use when shooting events. It's built solid. There really are no negative aspects to this product.

Perfect smaller cousin of the 498RC2
I use the 496RC2 as a secondary ball head to my Manfrotto 498RC2. I needed a smaller, lightweight version of the bigger 498RC2 and this is perfect for my needs, and it also accepts the same quick-release plates that my other Manfrotto ball heads use. I use it attached to my Star Adventurer motorized mount for tracking stars with my DSLR and it gives me full range of motion when aiming my camera into the night sky perfectly.

Average Ball Head
This ball head is well built. It has a safety on the lock so there's less chance that the plate will become loose and accidently drop your camera. I wished it came with a handle so you can maneuver the head easily. Attaching the camera with the plate to the ball head can be cumbersome if you have anything like a plastic cover on your camera (camera armor, etc.). Overall, I think it is a decent ball head but could be better.

Excellent Head -- Great Value
I use this with my Canon 60D DSLR for both stills and video. It is very solid and does not slip, even with a 300mm tele mounted on the camera. It's panning and tilting action are very smooth -- smoother than a 700RC2 fluid head that it replaced. Though my primary application was for still photography, it will do an excellent job for video as well. It is not very light, but it is solidly machined and feels extremely secure.

Solid tripod
I got this tripod recently for a heavier camera and I am very pleased with it. The only downside is that it is heavier than a tripod that I could not take on hikes, it is very solid and provides a lot of stability. Yet, it still folds in small enough space that it can fit into my airplane carry-on bag (diagonally without the head). It also extends high enough that I can take overhead shots easily. Overall a great product!

Great unit
For a light tripod, for general 35mm or similar work it is ideal. It is very flexable yet sturdy. It covers the range from a few inches off the ground to eye height. It is most suitable for 95% of average needs. Unless one has special needs or wants to spend a great deal more, you can't really go wrong with this unit. For larger cameras there could be a problem, I say could, since I don't know what the user might require.

Always trust a tripod by Manfrotto
I am a quadriplegic and use tripod to assist me in taking my photos. I spread the 2 legs all the way out and put them on my lap and use the 3rd leg a support. Works awesome. I've tried other tripods and they are just not sturdy enough. It's strong and the legs do what I need them to do. I 1st learned to do this when playing with a Manfrotto tripod in college. And I've been hooked ever since. I'll add some pictures later.

Good Value for the Cost
I use this for video production. These legs are a good starter set. A good tripod head will help balance out the legs and hold them steadier. The aluminum construction is light, but there's a sacrifice there. It's ability to drop down to 3.5 is the primary reason I picked them. That function is perfect. You don't need a high hat if you have these. For the price, Manfrotto gives you gold. Also Manfrotto is always amazing.

Second purchase of this hhead
I have used this head for my spotting scope and have been satisfied with it's performance. My scope is heavy and this head holds it's position without fail. It is also very easy to pan as animals do not hold still very often. I also attach my camera to the scope and no issues with the head moving at all. I purchased this one for a lighter weight tripod to cut some weight when hiking. This is a perfect head for my needs.

496RC2 Compact Ball Head with 200PL-14 Q
I have been looking for a lightweight but sturdy ball head to be more flexible with my tripod and I think this might be the best answer for the price point. The only complaint I have is that it is not fast to get on and off for more spontenaeity but then again consider the price. If you want something that will support an SLR with a medium sized telephoto and give you some room for movement then consider this ball head.

Not a Design Improvement
I bought this to change out the head on a spare tripod. The tripod head on my primary is a 488RC2 which is no longer made. I found this design to be much more difficult to use. The smaller knob is very hard to tighten and loosen if you do not good finger strength. On those cold mornings when fingers are stiff, forget it. The quality is good and it does the job of holding the camera secure but I prefer the older design.

Great tripod now better with carbon
I have an older aluminum 55 which has been my workhorse for the last 4 years but its heavy so the carbon fiber and more adjustable legs sold me on an update. It is everything I wanted.... 3 stage legs with levers and a center column that rotates 90 degrees. Its good BUT... center column is shy a couple of inches than my old one and the new lever locks are dangerous as they will nip and draw blood if you are not careful

Good, sturdy and versatile
I purchased this for my Canon 5D Mark III and 24-70mm lens after returning a BeFree model from Manfrotto that was great in that it was light and packed up small, but it felt flimsy and weak. This tripod is much better. It feels very solid when fully extended and will go well over 6ft if needed. Of course, it's much heavier and would be a bit of a drag to lug around hiking, but I'm using it for more urban/indoor shoots.

Excellent General purpose Tripod
I was looking for a lightweight tripod head that could be used for still, and occasional video, photography with my Nikon DSLR. This one suits the need nicely. It is small and lightweight enough for packing when I travel, but has the features and versatility to to stabilize the camera under a variety of conditions. I particularily like the smooth operation of the pan head. So far haven't found anything I don't like.

Huge design flaw in an otherwise pretty good product.
The center column on this tripod is an engineering joke.It does not rotate which makes quick and fine side to side adjustments impossible. It is sticky and wobbly when extending and collapsing.Worst of all is if you try to use the 90 degree function. The whole thing can fall apart in your hands. I needed a tripod this size and weight quick. So I'll use it and when we are finished with this adventure it will be junked.

Great fast shipping
While I find the product to be wonderful... The only draw back for me is this... I wish I knew how hard it was to squeeze the handle to move it and how wide the handle was.. I have tiny hands and suffer from tendinitis and I find the handle trigger just a bit to hard to squeeze to move. other than that, I cannot say anything negative about the product. Great speedy and SMOOTH delivery to Canada as always with B&H.

Basic, but decent
The build quality on this ball head seems to be good. I suppose I was expecting a bit more smoothness and fine control. I bought it knowing it didn't have a bubble level; I might have liked one... It does the job of being a decent small ball head. Quick release good; I like the safety lever on it. I used it to change out the factory head on my Canon monopod; made the monopod MUCH nicer, if not a little top-heavy.

Sturdy ballhead
I bought this ballhead because I own a Manfrotto tripod. This is a very sturdy ballhead, easy to use. The quick release is a breeze, I would have given this a 5 stars however without the bubble head the price should have been on the $70, but this is Manfrotto so we know. I ordered a 3 axis bubble head from a third party vendor and waiting to use it. Overall this is great ballhead for my D90 with 18-200 VRII lens.

Best tripod head I have
I absolutely love using this 3 way tripod head. Smooth and precise, it's the best head I've used so far. I like it even more than my Arca Swiss Z1. The retractable handles make it super convenient to pack. Friction control is great so it can be adjusted depending on the weight of the lens & camera. Plus it can support up to 8kg. Overall very impressed with the quality you get for the price. What more do you need?

Excellent Tripod with pan/tilt head with one minor flaw
Bought this kit for video, stable and doesnt creep after locking into position when mounted with canon 6D with 70-200mm lens. One minor flaw is that the mounting plate doesnt fit perfectly into the housing, there is some wiggle room and tilted a little. This would require me to use cameras horizon/vertical scale to adjust. But after locking the mounting plate, with the weight of camera, it doesnt see to wiggle.

The Hummer of tripods
I use this mostly for landscape photography. It's a beautiful tripod, very sturdy and well made, great height, but heavy. I was photographing migrating birds the other day in fairly gusty wind and this tripod was like a rock. You wouldn't want to have to carry it more than a mile or so though, it's pretty big and beefy. It's also very slick - takes less than 5 seconds to fully extend the legs and lock into place.
