So smooth, so fast, so easy
I wanted a tripod head that let me find the angle I wanted fast without a lot of fuss. This one nearly jumped off of the display rack at me and though I did look at a few others, I kept coming back to the Bogen/Manfrotto. I'm glad I opted as I did, this is perfect for my needs. Be careful not to overcrank the spring action on the grip, you could break it, and if the equipment you're using weighs over ten pounds you should look for another head. B... Show More

Not so compact head after all
Size-about the size of an 12oz redbaxx can Grip- Tight and secure fit on the quick release plate and the ball joint Action- Smooth 360 ball movement Safety- Fair and accident unlocking the release plate can happen Cons- The ball head is lack of panning movement locking knobs, causing it works a bit weird compared to other Manfrotto heads. What it does is when you unlock the only locking knobs on the head, the ball can move smoothly all 360 degree... Show More

Excellent Tripod Head
I was considering a a less expensive mini-ball tripod head and decided to purchase the Manfrotto 322RC2 instead. I am extremely happy I spent the few additional dollars. The one-hand operation of the 322RC2 is excellent and the flexibility it affords are a perfect match to the Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod I purchased with it. This combination is rock-steady and very easy to use. Just squeeze the grip, compose your image, release the grip to lock and... Show More

Perfect Pairing with my Manfrotto
Besides using the tripod in my daily work, I'll be taking it along on my trips--it folds up compactly and fits easily into my luggage. And because it is light enough I don't have to leave half my clothes behind on the closet floor. I love its simplicity and sturdiness despite the seemingly frail figure it cuts. The power locks stay closed (unlike my former tripod) until I snap them open. It took some getting used to what side I should try to open... Show More

A true professional tripod.
My Manfrotto tripod is my first true professional level tripod although I have been in professional photography for some years. This brand and model came highly recommended by other professional-level photographers such as Eric Pellitier, Las Plumas Birdwatching Tours, Mindo, Ecuador. I have already used it to prepare for a shoot of the solar eclipse in Smith Rock, Oregon on the 21st. It has incredible versatility and provides a dead-solid platfo... Show More

Worlds ahead of a ball head
I shoot mostly real estate photos with this unit. I find my work goes much quicker and smoother using this unit than a ball head unit. The mechanism allows me to get level shots every time with a lot less hassle than ball units. That said I do notice that there is a slight discrepancy between the horizontal level on this head and the horizon line on my Nikon D7200 so I tend to use the camera's horizon in conjunction with this unit's vertical leve... Quick release orientation is 90 from my monopod head.
I have purchased five different Manfrotto heads over the fifteen years. I've been happy with all of them. This one could be great but the QR plate is 90 degrees offset from the Manfrotto tilt head on monopod. I want the release lever on my left side. I thought I could configure it to match my needs based on the pictures of all the extra holes. What you can do is mount the QR adapter for lever on left, lever on right, or in the handle end. You... Good Concept, Good Reputation, Bad Build Quality
I was so excited to get this tripod, having read its positive reviews, watched YouTube videos praising its many features, and knowing that Manfrotto was the trusted brand for many young filmmakers. But, within two weeks, the excitement turned into frustration. One of the metal leg catches (what enables the Power Locking System) broke and the other two have deteriorated since. Now, opening the tripod is a major hassle, as I must adjust the degree ... Show More

It gets the job done
I bought this head four years ago when B&H had a special deal on this plus the (now discontinued) 190XPROB aluminum legs. I have a couple other heavier duty heads that I mostly use now, but this one served me well as my main head for many years. It's solid, easy to use, lightweight, and reliable. At one point when this was my only tripod I would use it with my 4x5 cameras. After that experience, I wouldn't recommend it for anything larger than th... Show More

322RC2 Grip Action Ball Head/ Manfrotto
I use this Grip Action Ball Head on my MT190XPro3 aluminum tripod. I like how I can turn the camera so easily and when I release the handle it holds the position for my shot. I really like the fact that it has a safety lock on the bracket that attaches to the bottom of the camera. It also shows which direction the lens should be by several arrows on the bottom of the bracket. It holds my camera without any problems. I really like the whole setup.... Show More

Photo tripod, not the best for video
I watched a couple of reviews on YouTube before buying that tripod. It seemed to be just the right tripod for my needs and with a fair price. It seems tough made (I guess it really is), but there are some flaws, if you are expecting to use it for video. The biggest problem, I think, is that the middle section which allows you to lift your tripod's head a bit more than the actual tripod makes it impossible to balance the tripod's head to level it,... Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head
I am a professional photographer. My career depends on good equipment. A piece of equipment that is an extension of me is my tripod.I have used ball heads on my tripods since the 1980s. I have always used Bogen/Manfrotto tipods AND heads. The 496RC2 is great, user-friendly, and reliable. Efficiency is of utmost importance when I'm using my tripod and this head allows me to be quick and exacting. For its size, it does an amazing job at holding my ... Show More

I MADE A GREAT CHOICE
I bought this pan-tilt head to fit on to my Manfrotto 190go carbon tripod and am so glad that I made this choice. It is easy to adjust and keeps the camera locked in. The two long handles are telescoping making it easier to fit into a bag. However, they do not fold down. The two dials are for adjusting the tension which work really great, and once they are adjusted, you dont need to touch them again. It is a little heavier and beefier than a ball... Show More

Quaulity Product, Worth The Money.
I had a Slik pistol grip ball head for the past twenty years. I loved it, and still do. I decided to upgrade my old tripod with a new Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod (190CXPro3) and changed the ball head out as well because of a rebate offer. I selected the Manfrotto 322RC2 ball head because it has the same versitility as my old pistol grip. The 322RC2 is a bit heavier but just as easy to use as my old Slik. I do like the option on the Manfrotto 32... Show More

Great Tripod! - TERRIBLE BAG
I am a freelance commercial photographer and bought this tripod/head combo to be able to help with fine adjustments in furniture photography, architectural photography, etc. The tripod and head are exactly what I wanted and work perfectly. The only two accessories I like are the extra QR plate and the rocks bag (since there is no weight hook from the center column). The bag, however was a pitiful excuse for a bag in this accessory kit. High quality head
I purchased the Manfrotto Grip Action Ball Head and have used it for a couple of weeks now. It is mounted on carbon fiber tripod legs. I purchased this with a bit of trepidation since my last tripod head was a ball head and did not hold my DLSR and lens, particularly in the vertical position. I am primarily a landscape and night photographer so a firm hold is crucial. I have been very happy with this head to date. It handles the weight of my came... Show More

Nice versatile pod.
I have had my MT055xpro3 tripod for a couple weeks now and have put it to some good use on recent outings to Yellowstone NP. It's a sturdy mount and has no problem handling the weight of my 7D MkII w/ 150-600mm lens. Set up and takedown is super fast compared to my other tripod with the twist type leg adjusters. Plus it is way more versatile with the 90* adjustable center pole and multi angle leg adjustment. You can adjust this pod so as your cam... Show More

The ball head is just the right size for just about everything and is very portable for use on a tripod that you carry around. The quick release system is great for holding even my 400mm f2.8. I use this with my Nikon D90. There are a number of ways to configure this product based on whether you want to use your right or left hand to work the grip, and you can even have it straight up and mount your camera at the top of the handle. The grip/hold is great, in that once you get it in position and let go, it stays. The quick release works well too, and the safetly lock is a nice addition to prevent accidentally releasing it. Good tripod, poor response from Manfrotto if problems
This is a great tripod. It had everything I wanted. Short enough to fit in my checked luggage, light enough to carry around, tall enough for me (6ft tall+). Only, the second time I pulled the center column up, the plastic rotator collar snapped. It still works, but it is hard to put back to the vertical position. I would have returned this tripod to BH, but it looked like a part that could be replaced fairly easily, so I tried going through Manfr... Show More

My first ballhead I have personally own. I prefer using tripod heads with large plates due to videos I film. Since I am a first time user, I liked how easy it was to use and the tension it offers from the swivel to the adjust getting precise detailed. It was better than the carbon fiber version
I give this five stars even though I sold it, because in hindsight, that was a mistake. I wanted to lighten my load, so I sold this and bought the carbon fiber version. The weight is an improvement on the carbon fiber, but in real estate shoots, I'm frequently opening and closing the last sections of legs. With the aluminum one, the legs fell out by themselves when I popped the latch. On this one, they aren't heavy enough, so I have to pull them ... Show More

Pleased.with the purchase
I am not sure if everone would be comfortable with its weight, especially on a mountainous trek. I use the tripod for travel and for landscape phtography, which of course I do when I travel. The point is that it is sturdy enough for everyday use and compact enough for travel. It locks your camera and tele lens in place, as long as you do not go much beyond the 17lb. capacity. It can be prepared for shooting in a jiffy, can get reasonably high and... Show More
