Manfrotto 391RC2 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

I would buy this product again
I primarily use my tripod for photography. It is very beneficial for long exposures as well as for portraits. I like to use my Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens and with the 322RC2 attached to my tripod I don't have to be concerned about the weight of the lens causing my camera to shift from my subject.

Works best with shorter lenses
I bought this to use with a Canon 50D and a EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens. When zoomed out to 400mm it's pretty nose heavy, and vertical alignment with this head takes considerable effort. To give credit where it's due, horizontal alignment is easy, and once you get the camera pointed where you want it, it's rock solid and stays there. I would only recommend it for use with a camera and lens where the center of gravity is balanced over the attachment point on the tripod a little better. For birding and wildlife, I went back to my gimbal head.

Good head for most occasions
This ballhead works well for most situations. The grip component makes for easy minor camera adjustments. My one complaint about this product is the lack of horizontal-only movements (which I use often for panoramas). If you intend to make any adjustment, the entire ballhead will adjust, not just in one direction. Otherwise, great product.

EXCELLENT Ballhead!!!
I am a pro wedding photographer, use a Canon 5D mark II and various lenses (one of which is the 70mm-200mm L) and have up till recently been using fairly cheap tripods bought at amateur photography stores ($100 or less). I've always hated having to use tripods due to the setup and adjusting time. When my most recent tripod's maneuvering bracket snapped off (for no apparent reason), I decided it was time to upgrade to something nice. I was NOT dis... Show More

Great Product
Versitile. Solid. Easy to install and use. I bought 2 quick release attachments for each position on the head so I could quickly change the camera from one position to the other. Works great.

Very Nice, Easy to Use, Solid
I have this grip action ballhead on top of Manfrotto's 190XB - attached is Canon 50D and my largest lens is a Sigma 120-400mm. So far I have used it for bird and macro shots and has performed well in both. The ballhead is very easy to manipulate and seems to hold the configuration very well. It is nice to be able to aim/zoom with the left hand while moving the ballhead with the right. The only problem with this set up is once you lock focus on yo... Show More

Easy to use, great grip, a bit heavy
Stays put, fast adjustments. Heavy for carrying on long hikes, can't leave attached to the tripod while attached to a pack or you will be top heavy or hit in the head with the handle. For short hikes or studio use, it is perfect. Get a smaller head for hiking/backcountry work.

Superb Product
This is the best ball-head I have come across so far. It is very well built, and well designed. It can be set up for right or left handed use, as well as vertically (joystick). The trigger mechanism is easy to use, and once you release your grip, it is firmly locked in place and does not move. It does have a some weight to it, but not overly so, and I do not find weight to be an issue. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good ballhead.

Easy to use
I take photos of wildlife. It's easy to put the camera and lense in just about any position yet holds them firmly in place when I release the grip. The quick release gives me easy access for those hand held shots.

terrific ballhead
This grip action ballhead is great to use. You can quickly change the position of your camera with one hand. You don't have to loosen a knob to change the orientation of your camera and it takes seconds. It can be used with either the left or right hand. There is really no downside to using this product.

Can't beat it for the price
I love these ball heads. I am left handed and often use a camera / lense combination that is rather heavy for me. I attach a left handed flash bracket to this trigger with a remote shutter release velcroed to the bracket grip. With this setup I can guide the camera around on a monopod or tripod gripping the bracket in one hand and the trigger in the other with very little effort and great precision. I don't have to move my hand to loosen any knob... Show More

Nice Product
I use this with my Nikon D90. There are a number of ways to configure this product based on whether you want to use your right or left hand to work the grip, and you can even have it straight up and mount your camera at the top of the handle. The grip/hold is great, in that once you get it in position and let go, it stays. The quick release works well too, and the safetly lock is a nice addition to prevent accidentally releasing it. It took me a ... Show More

Outstanding
Works as good as any ballhead I have tried. A little stiff at first but I think will get better over time as I use it. I take wildlife and landscape photos. Quick attach plate works great and it is easy to mount on the camera.

Grip Makes for Smooth Tracking
Used on monopod and tripod mounts with easy release mount. Great for studio and fixed bird watching. Does not allow a full 360 flex.

Have wanted this for a LONG time
I am trying to get used to the idea of using a tripod but I didn't want multiple controls to tilt and swivel, etc. This makes it very easy to adjust my camera in any direction with only one hand.

Great product! easy to use
I shoot kids sports photography baseball and Football. You have to have quick release to change cameras or lens. Manfrotto products are great for what I do because they are light and strong.

Nice Ballhead!
I use this for general tripod duties. I like it because I can change the setup lightening quick. The grip handle is easy to use and for me much more natural than twisting knobs, etc. I wish they made this a little lighter though, since it probably weighs more than my carbon fiber tripod!

Great!
I bought this ballhead for it's weight capacity. I wanted something that would be able to handle the demands of my future camera upgrades. The head has everything you look for: good stability, strong clamp, a wide range of motion...but the one thing lacking is panning ability. I knew that when I purchased it because panning just isn't that big of a concern of mine. If you feel the same then I strongly recommend this ballhead.

Smooth Versatility
I can't say enough about this ballhead. I've used other brands and this is easily the toughest, most user friendly head on the market. Try as you may, you will not find a position unattainable with Bogen/Manfrotto's rock-solid Grip-Action ballhead.

I recomend this ballhead
I like that it is reversable and you actually could add a couple more quich releases and utilise all three attachment points at any setup. that would be operate the sweeze grip with you left, right or either hand. I switched it from the default right congifguration to a left hand since I wanted to be able to shoot and move the camera with different hands. since I will be using it out in the field. I had been wanting this head for a long time and finaly purchased it. I do not regret it at all.

Love It!
I bought this as my first head with my first tripod, and I am VERY happy with it. I've never used anything else, so I can't really compare it, but I can say it is very easy to use. It moves smoothly, and the grip action makes it quick and convenient to get the angle you're looking for.
