Manfrotto 391RC2 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

UPC's:
Outstanding
Have to say I love this for my bird watching scope! This is so fluid but then rock solid when you need it to be. This is just what I have been looking for.

Ball is nearly frozen in place
Ive had this head less than 9 months and have not used it much. I thought it could double as the head for camera or spotting scope. When I tried to use it yesterday with the scope, the ball was very hard to move -- extremely frustrating!

Great tripod, very sturdy
Seems to be a great tripod, its quite light and I plan to travel with it soon, I will leave an update at that time. From the time I used with it, it is very stable and sturdy, bumped it accidentally and did not fall or give any problems. Pans very easy with the head it came with, which is smooth and easy to use. Quick release plate for the camera is very handy, a very welcome inclusion. I am happy with this purchase, it is rather expensive but Id say its a good investment that you can trust your camera gear on, and will hopefully last for several years.

Holding Still
Have not had this tripod long, but have used it a few times since arrival. Its larger and more steady than the one it replaced. The ball head holds position well once set. Would purchase this combo again!

Great Tri-pod
I just purchased and took it on a photo trip to Charleston, SC for four days. Once set up it was rock solid. I used it in all types of conditions (forest, beach, pier, street, etc.) and it was a breeze to operate and control. The controls on the included head were very intuitive and easy to manipulate. The quick release is much easier to use than my previous Acra release on my Gitzo. It is still early in my use of this tripod but so far I am very satisfied. Great bang for the bucks.

rebate fraud
The rebate offer from Manfrontto is a fraud. They waited 3 months before mailing a letter saying I didnt send the bar-code. But, I absolutely did send EVERYTHING they they wanted. I have the empty box with the missing bar-code cut from box. DONT BELIEVE THEY REBATE OFFERS. RIP-OFF.

Sad and disappointing
I give this Ball Head one star for the following reasons: 1. messy - the ball head section releases grease and it gets in your hands very easy 2. grip - the Ball Head is not strong enough to keep the camera on place. Very weak grip, no good, very malo, do not buy, please, do not sell it to people. Tested with a Canon 7D + Canon 70-200 f/4 and the head keep falling forward. 3. It is heavy

Great versatility and precision
The combination of the 055xpro3 legs and the 405 gear head is really good, from videos I thought the head was going to be really big but if I compare it to my other head 808RC4 its the same overall size. When I unboxed it and tried the geared mechanism I thought it was too hard to make the pan and tilt move, but when using it it feels just right.

Great fast shipping
While I find the product to be wonderful... The only draw back for me is this... I wish I knew how hard it was to squeeze the handle to move it and how wide the handle was.. I have tiny hands and suffer from tendinitis and I find the handle trigger just a bit to hard to squeeze to move. other than that, I cannot say anything negative about the product. Great speedy and SMOOTH delivery to Canada as always with B&H.

Great Tripod System!
Being relatively new to photography I wanted something of quality without breaking the bank. This system is light and durable but also is very well made. The carbon is a nice addition and the price for the ball and tripod together couldnt be beat!

Nice addition to my Photo Gear
I needed a sturdy TriPod for my D500 Nikon with a 200-500 Nikon Telephoto Lens. I have the smaller 190 Carbon Fiber though its just too light for the heavier gear. The MTO55 TriPod has a higher reach which is a plus for my needs.

I MADE A GREAT CHOICE
I bought this pan-tilt head to fit on to my Manfrotto 190go carbon tripod and am so glad that I made this choice. It is easy to adjust and keeps the camera locked in. The two long handles are telescoping making it easier to fit into a bag. However, they do not fold down. The two dials are for adjusting the tension which work really great, and once they are adjusted, you dont need to touch them again. It is a little heavier and beefier than a ball... Show More

Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 ALUM TRIPOD/STAND ALONE HEAD
Its been a long time since I bought a tripod and the good one I had broke. I bought a cheaper one and it looked ok but just couldnt handle the usage. I had looked at other Manfrotto models and was less than impressed. In one store the leg fell of one when I picked it up. I still placed the order for the new tripod and all I can say is there is a big difference! The MT055Pro3 is really really nice. The head is awesome too. Its not for everyone and you dont want to travel with this thing but if you shoot table top work and tether your camera it is great for a small setup. It is rather heavy LOL!

Wonderful tripod/head combination. Couldnt be happier.
SUMMARY Im a mechanical engineer by trade and advanced photographer by hobby. I literally could not be happier with the combination of MT055CXPRO3 tripod and 405 Pro Digital Geared Head Kit. Online reviews tend to have an excessive number of negative opinions because customers who receive defective product (or chose something ill-suited) are extra motivated to post a review. Ignore the negatives. You get what you pay for and that truism applies ... Show More

This makes my second Manfrotto tripod- I also use one of their monopods and I love that all of the QL plates are compatible with everything. Great products...

Amazing
This was expensive but the difference is like living in a different world. It does every task that I need to do requiring a tripod in my studio and in the field. Why did I wait so long to get this workhorse? Many possibilities yet to be explored in the plein air painting world of watercolor painting. Fabulous rig for a DSLR camera or a studio projector. Very happy camper! DanW

Good Head, hope its strong.
The Manfrotto 496 ball head seems like a good tripod head. The base of the head is smaller than the older mounts for the Bogen/Manfrotto tripods so the set screws dont really lock into anything. Its got a locking/tension knob instead of a lever so it seems with big objects on top it might be a little more of a challenge to reach the knob. Its got a separate pan lock that is a very small knob and though it is useful to have a separate release for ... Show More

Solid and Precise
Use primarily for still life macro work and its great! Easily holds my 70D, macro lens, ring light, and focus rail. The horizontal column feature is neat, but needs to be counter balanced with the macro setup on it and fully extended. Not a big deal as most shots dont require full extension. Tripod is very stable, easy to adjust, and like the rubberized leg grips. The geared head is amazing. Used in conjunction with a focus rail it allows for very precise control during macro shooting. Really fantastic. Quality pieces right here and very happy I invested in them.

Excellent tripod for all levels of photographer
You can spend a lot more money, even though this one isnt cheap, on a Gitzo or some other ultra-high end tripod. But this carbon fiber model does everything a photographer would want: light weight, very stable, easy to use and very effective hardware. I would recommend this to anyone at any level of photography.

Quality made, easy to use
This is my second one. I now have one on tripod and this newest one monopod. I find it easy to use, flexible, and well made. I like being able to easily turn it to create a vertical shot and yet camera or lens feels secure I do minimal panning so this was best choice for me
