Leg fell off while using.
I've had this tripod and have used it regularly for a couple years. On my last job I lifted the tripod up and knew that it felt strange when I tried to set it down for my next shot. Luckily I looked down and saw one of the legs angled out where there is not supposed to be a bend just before the whole leg just fell on the floor and pieces scattered about. Luckily I was still holding onto it and my camera didn't smash to the ground with it. I've ha... Show More

Well-built, but pay attention to the mounting system
This is a well-built sturdy tripod that is a bit on the heavy side, but a great overall platform. The only suggestion that I have is for the manufacturer to include a 3/8 -16 to -20 reducer. This is a $2 item that gives the consumer both industry mounting standards options without having to research or order additional items. Even though the description stated the mounting specs of -20, it wasnt until I received the tripod that I discovered the above reducer would be required to mount my scope, hence additional shipping costs and delays in tripod use.

Complete Garbage
Bought this on the Manfrotto name and the you get what you pay for philosophy. Just outside of the pathetic warranty period, my tilt gear ground to a halt. You can't stand on it to move it. And this is a head that isn't used very often - I mostly use ball heads. Contacted Manfrotto. After almost two weeks of silence, their automated email system bounced me around until it finally sent me a link (which didn't work) to a page that describes their w... Show More

I love this tripod!
I am a real estate photographer and i work hard. Recently, my tripod broke and my work became even harder. I ordered this tripod because it works the same way my old one did. Now it feels like my work is a breeze! I would recommend this tripod to anyone. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is that I wish it were a bit lighter. I am older and female and carrying my tripod is hard on my shoulders. But i would still buy this tripod for its features.

Decent but breaks
Decent tripod but I've probably spent ~$125 in spare parts for this thing that keep breaking. The centre locking screw has stripped on me two or three times. Such a pain. Meaning you can't keep the vertical piece that the head mounts onto locked in place. Poorly built in that regard and not what you expect from Manfrotto. Manfrotto should offer free parts for such a faulty product.

Great Tripod for Day Hiking
This tripod is what the doctor ordered for me for my day hiking trips. It is light weight and easily straps to my day pack making for easy access. It sets up quickly and is simple to use. My only regret is that I hadn't purchased it sooner!

Hold this
Ok, not bad. A bit of getting used to. Ran a Nikon body with 70-200 and it was good. Not as stable as I would of liked. My tripod was built to handle the weight but ended up using a RRS ball head. Had better control with the ball head. I believe this would be just perfect for very static shots with wide angle lenses and up to 180mm. Beyond that its all about weight and a sturdy tripod. This devise does have some additional weight as well. This i... Show More

Amazing
Its lightweight, takes some getting use to but once you do its easy to use. I use it for Mamiya RB67 film camera and that camera its a beast with all its parts attached but I was able to just carry it around with this tripod. Very satisfied with purchase.

It was better than the carbon fiber version
I give this five stars even though I sold it, because in hindsight, that was a mistake. I wanted to lighten my load, so I sold this and bought the carbon fiber version. The weight is an improvement on the carbon fiber, but in real estate shoots, I'm frequently opening and closing the last sections of legs. With the aluminum one, the legs fell out by themselves when I popped the latch. On this one, they aren't heavy enough, so I have to pull them ... Show More

Love this new 496 Ball Head! ...
Several features are much better than previous models! First, the 200PL-PRO plate that accompany's this ball head will fit both 200PL mounts as well as Arca Swiss mounts, making the need to replace my 200PL plates I have on all cameras & lens collar rings not necessary! If I ever switch to Arca Swiss mountings on any ball heads, these plates will mount to them! ... Second, the friction adjustment for the ball head is now within the ball head lo... Show More

It's a beast! and works great!
I wanted a great solid tripod for table top shooting. This combination is just the thing for my needs. Didn't come with a case was the only bad thing but the case was only $50.

Well built... solid tripod
The Manfrotto 055 with MHXPRO 3-way pan/tilt head is exactly what I was looking for. Rock solid, and the 3 bubble levels are really helpful in getting the true horizon and all aspects correct. How many times have we assumed we leveled the frame to the horizon only to find out is really wasnt. This becomes foolproof with the Mancrotto 055. Smooth operation with vertical, tilt and pan functions with the MHXPRO 3W head. A bit heavier than I anticipated (tripod and head), but I love the solid results. Worth it!!

Piece of Trash
I purchased this 2 months ago and the tilt head knob started slipping on on the arm. It stopped working entirely during a shoot and the tilt head was stuck at a single angle. I'd used it fewer than 10 times. I got in touch with B & H and they refuse to take a return because it was past 30 days. Manfrotto will simply send me a new arm, which is faulty- so that it will likely keep breaking. I don't recommend this, it is poorly designed and will leave you high and dry.

Best price to quality product
For quick landscape photo to well thought long exposure - I mean in the 5 minutes range, it does the job. Easy access to the three knobs gives full feel of freedom. Ive ever had a 400$+ ball head, and dont see the real purpose of paying so much.

Why did I wait so long!
After struggling with an 804RC2 head for many years, I finally broke down and got this head. So much easier to set camera position since the camera doesn't move when you set the clamp. For those 90 straight up or down shots, no problem. My old 200PL plates fit fine. The only down side is the plate release is harder to use than the 804RC2 due to the length of the lever.

Great tripod
It came with all 3 legs and a head. The legs are easy to spread and the neck goes up and down smoothly.

A Perfect mating for my two Sony A7 r and A7rIII cameras and my Manfrotto 055 and Manfrotto monopod tripods. Perfect synchrony!

Nice tripod head.
I bought this head to replace a Manfrotto MH804, and I'm happy with the decision. Three points: tilt adjustments in both directions are smooth, the tension controls make for secure settings, and I am reasonably at ease having a camera with long lens on this quick release mechanism. I do recommend the XPRO head. Edwin C.

True Manfrotto quality
This head was exactly what I need when my old head started showing wear and wasn't as stable as I need it to be (you would see shake but very slight). Popped it right onto the tripod legs and it has been a joy using this head.

Have concerns about the stability
Bought this head thinking it would be real stable and it is until you mount the camera on it. The plastic clip to release the mount is very loose and wobbly. I may try another just to make sure. This is solid built head I'll give that.

So far so good
I bought on a discount deal @ $140 off witch made it reasonable buy . I have only had a couple of chances to use it so far. I shot a lot of landscapes, medium to long exposer water scenics and flowers . Seem to be stable and strong .I have found with center post extended at 90 over flowers it can be a little shaky if you use it vertical no problem . When I get a chance I will see how it work with my Pentax 6X7. But over all quality it looks good the ball head works great, we will see in a couple of years . Built like a tank!
After all these years I finally bought a good tripod! It finally dawned on me that having $3k plus of equipment on a cheap lightweight tripod probably wasnt a great idea! First off, this isnt one Id take on a long hike. Its pretty heavy and thats what I was looking for, something stable. I really like the pull out handles for tilt and pan. My old cheap ones from the past had a crank to raise and lower the center post. This one does not. Howev... Show More
