Great mid/high level crop for adapting

Mar 22, 2016

Please bear with me, I was gifted this camera from an aunt who didn't buy from B&H. I have pics of the item as proof as well as images testing ISO. Naturally from upgrading from the entry level A3000, this is a MASSIVE upgrade. I am both a photographer and student film maker. I really love the camera, but I can definitely point out a thing or two about the camera. But here's the short list: Pros: Good 4K at 30P Good low light capabilities Tiltabl... Show More

Great camera, fast focus, game changer!

Apr 4, 2016

I am an amature photographer and have been using the A6300 for about 1 week and I am very impressed so far. I am a life-long Canon shooter and have owned several film and mid-grade Canon digital SLRs (70d, 60d, Rebel XTi, Rebel XT). My only experience with mirrorless / EVF cameras has been my travel camera, a Panasonic Lumix FZ200. That being said, the A6300 mirorless is new territory for me. This camera's focus system is impressive and lightning... Show More

Mar 22, 2016

The Sony a6000 was my bridge from film photography to serious digital about two years ago. As my fine art business began to blossom about a year ago, I moved up to the Sony a7rii and followed with Sony Zeiss and Carl Zeiss lenses to support the real potential of the new 42 mp camera. During this time I sold off my a6000 and compliment of Sony APS-C lenses, but have missed the portability and creative factor of the more nimble a6000 format. When S... Show More

Best ASPC stills Camera - video woofer

Mar 23, 2016

I've had this camera for four days only now (purchased over the counter in Australia.), subjected it to many tests, both stills and video.Professional reviewers and I use the terms loosely, have *not* hitherto differentiated between performance with lenses equipped with phase detection, and other lenses e.g. the e-mount Ziess zoom f4 24-70. I have used this a standard lens on my Nex-7 for the last few years. (I also use a Canon 5D Mk2 for full fr... Show More

The quick: Yes I own this camera. If you're looking for great 4K, high frame rates and excellent stills in a sub thousand dollar camera, look no further. Not so quick: (used with Vello Nikon F (dumb) adapter, Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8, Samyang 14mm and Samyang 35mm) I'm hearing a lot of negative things. This guy says one thing, this one another thing. Good for young filmmakers and packed full of features

Jun 5, 2017

Overall good and everything I expected. I mainly bought the a6300 for video use. Things to be aware of - 1. When shooting in 4K, rolling shutter is bad. This was alright for me because I mainly shoot in Full HD anyways so it wasn't a deal breaker. - 2. No headphone jack, this feature would've been nice to have, but I will try seeing if there are alternatives for monitoring audio. - 3. Screen is hard to see outdoors. Not a fan of how hard it was t... Show More

You will end up spending more money for less quality

May 15, 2016

Hi, I'm a Nikon user who switched for Sony. This is my first Sony and I pre-order it online. What bring me to choose that camera was that I was looking for a lighter camera who can record video in 4K. Since it was the new Sony and the A6000 had a lot of good review, I say let's try and go for it. To start, my first copy wasn't working properly. the MENU button and the screen was not working... Powerhouse for videography

I picked this camera up on Cyber Monday as a complement to my A7Riii that I can bring hiking, biking, or skiing due to its small size. Ive been shooting on this camera for about two weeks and love it! I got the kit 16-50mm lens which is adequate for photo but actually really shines for video work with snappy autofocus and the small overall size is great for my Zhiyun Crane gimbal. Im impressed with just how small and handy the camera is and how m... Show More

Note: this is my Batis 85/A6300 review with a few updates. I'm going to use this combination for a year as an experiment, my main interest is in portraits from a distance. And I'm only going to buy this one lens for my A6300. (I also have a RX100 for general photography). My favorite features of this combination are: -Silent mode is truly silent, no noise from the lens or camera. -Eye AF works great across the entire frame. -EVF and Level are gre... Show More

This camera is incredible if you keep in mind its limits

Mar 22, 2016

I purchased this camera mainly for video because of the video quality I had seen in reviews (and the native video files provided before release I was able to download from a reviewer). For perspective, I've been shooting video for 5-6 years full-time and have used a lot of cameras, but the FS100, the Blackmagic Pocket cam, and the F5/55 are the models I know best. First off, the rolling shutter is pronounced. I normally don't care about RS like m... Show More

Really amazing camera, I was afraid to purchase after reading all kinds of reviews about over heating. Unless you're filming 10-15 minute long clips in 80+ degree weather you're not going to experience this problem(new firmware is installed ver.1.31). I ride/film BMX so i'm outside in the heat all the time but i'm only filming 20 seconds too 2 minutes max clips. So far its only overheated one time on me and after a 5 min cool down it was good to ... Show More

Sony A6300: best value dim-light, sports/action APS-C camera

Jun 2, 2016

The best value camera for capturing indoor events or action with fast autofocus is Sony Alpha A6300 camera with 16-50mm lens (2016, 14 oz body + 4 oz 24-75mm equiv zoom). Both A6300 and earlier A6000 demand sharper zoom lenses as follows to best leverage their APS-C sensor: 1) Sony E-mount 16-70mm F4 Vario-Tessar T ZA OSS SEL1670Z lens (2013, 11 oz) beats 16-50mm kit lens; 2) Sony FE 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G OSS SEL70300G lens(2016, 30 oz) grabs sport... I would MAYBE buy this camera again

Jun 21, 2016

Let's say what's great about the camera. It's nice and compact and it can shoot 4k video. The stills are fantastic, and the auto-focus is significantly faster than my previous camera. I recently rented it for a vacation and filmed quite a bit with it and took tons of pictures. I liked being able to send photos directly to my phone and edit with the Photoshop Express App. However, the connection process is a bit slow. I found this to be the same o... Show More

I just got back from vacation to an amusement park so I got to test the camera out in all sorts of conditions. I picked this guy up about 6 months ago or so and I love it! I used it as my A cam for my last short film i did in film school, and it is a dream! 4k in 24p looks great, 30p crops in on the sensor and doesn't look as good. 1080p is ok, but 4k downscaled to 1080 looks significantly better. First before I write anything I my previous camera was a Nikon P90 point and shoot. So this is a big step up for me. I had decided early on to go with a mirror less camera because I was already used to some of the features, like seen my shot in the EVF. I then set my sights on the A6000 but waited. Then the A6300 was released and the few things I was hesitant about on the A6000 were addressed, mainly the EVF resolution. This camera is everything ... Show More

Good camera with some niggles

Jun 1, 2016

Here are some observations on the Sony a6300 after two weeks of using it: I am coming from the flappy-mirror DSLR world, and use the viewfinder 100% of the time, so a good EVF is very important to me. Sony a6300 did not disappoint in this regard. It is the best EVF I have seen (and I have tried many mirrorless cameras, notable exceptions being the Fuji X-T1 and Samsung NX-1) Burst speeds are amazing, focussing speed in daylight is very fast. I recently purchased the A6300 and had about a week to play with it. I did extensive research. Here's THE GOOD:1. ISO minimum of 800 for SLOG2/3 (unlike the ND gobbling A7S and A7S2 at 3200 and 1600 minimum ISO for SLOG)2. Amazing dynamic range but use only the following: SLOG 3- CINE GAMMUT3, SLOG 2, GAMMUT3. MOST OF YOUR SHOOTING SHOULD BE!!!!- CINE 4, GAMMUT3.CINE- (Why?) because with Cine 4 you retain the 14 stops but can go below 800 ISO, Bl... Show More

The image quality of this camera is great, even in 1080/120fps, which other reviewers had expressed some level of concern about. The quality internal 4K in this kind of body is just amazing. It also has virtually the same shooting functions and menu layout as the A7 series if you come from that like I did. I use a 18-105 Sony G lens which performs very well with its autofocus.
