Nice Carry Around Best Bang for Buck Consum Camcorder
I purchased this to use as a Camcorder after returning a Canon Consumer Camcorder from another vendor. For the $ it's hard to go wrong as a camcorder. Best Budget 4K Shooter!
This is (and will be for some time) my favorite recommendation for budget 4K video. Cheap (much less than I paid for my T3i kit back in the day) but very solid investment. But it has some finicky bits about it. 4K image quality is great at 100mbps. I use the Lexar UHS-1 cards and they maintain speed fine with no buffer issues. The G7 is not my first mirrorless and I have used dslrs in the past, but all of those pale in comparison to the video quality of this camera. This is the first camera I've purchased. The 4k video is crystal clear and the colors are fantastic. The autofocus is off at times so keep an eye on focus if you use that setting. I bought it to replace my Canon 600d mainly for stills and to be the B-cam for my still not buyed a7s that i'll get around february, and i'm quite impressed. Didn't expect the camera to be so good at all. It fells great in the hand and its very compact and light weight. I had a t3i and 7D before I bought the LUMIX G7. I really liked the t3i's flip out screen and the 7D's easy controls for adjusting aperture. On the G7 you get both of those plus a touch screen and wifi, 4K video, good battery life, an evf, better low light (3200 ISO looks decent) and more. We bought this camera to travel with, and to take pictures of theatrical performances. For the theatrical performances the silent mode was a big selling point. Very few other cameras of it's type have that. It may be a bit bigger than We wanted for travel, but We were only buying one camera. It is light weight, and not too large. When I decided I wanted a small camera for occasional use, Micro 4/3 seemed like the best bet, and the Lumix DMC-G7 seemed like a great camera. 14-140mm Lens with a fun body attached
I carry a GM1 as my main travel camera. More of my favorite shots are taken with that camera than my larger kit because I usually have it with me. I'm impressed with the camera for the on sale price range. Got the silver version looks good and like the retro styling. All buttons and knobs are on par with price range, beginner DSLR ish. Best 4k for the buck
The 4k recordings coming out of this camera are on par with the GH4. However, you should know that is has more rolling shutter than the GH4. Surprisingly, High iso (1600+) in video is about one stop better than the gh4. So, this is still a great option to alongside the GH4. As of early 2016, it's difficult to find a 4K vlogging camera that is: affordable, has an external mic port, and has a flip out camera. This is the only one I found.
