Not sure I will buy another optical disk drive.
I bought this just in case I needed it and because I have a number of old disks. I probably will not use it much, however, it is very well made as all Apple products are. It works perfectly and I'll have it if I need it. I think it was a reasonable investment.

Super Speedy
The Apple Super Drive (CD/DVD) is a perfect addition to my 27 iMac. It attaches easily to a 3.0 USB jack. It both allows me to load applications and music/video with ease, or playback stored media. Because it is an Apple product, its speed and reliability go without saying. Highly recommended for all Apple devices that do not have a built-in optical drive.

Great drive only needs 1 usb port
My new computer has only 4 USB ports so I returned a less expensive drive that required 2 USB ports, one for power and one for data. I did not want to tie up 2 ports for a drive that I would use only occasionally. This is a very compact slot loading drive and so far it has worked well.

Works great except for on older macs with SuperDrives.
I bought this external drive to replace a broken one on my 6+ year old Macbook Pro. Little did I know that it doesn't work with Macs that ship with DVD drives. I went online and found a hack to make it work. I had to change a few settings in the terminal, it took about 5 minutes. Since then I have also used it in my new Macbook Pro to great affect.

it is an great to buy once i figure out how to used.
Hi ,personally i did not have good experience with superDrive because my mac just have one C porter and did not Launch my DVD movie I guess did not have enough power so I ended up returned. sorry B&H. I guess i figure out one day how to used and buy it again, i'M pure sure the device is great but was not for me at this time. I'm not computer Savvy sorry guys.

A great product, but caution on how you intend to connect it
Undoubtedly a great product but does appear a direct connection to the computer versus a USB extender. On the other hand, some powered USB may support it fine. Remember to reboot your Mac after connecting to another USB extender as the device driver kernel requirements may not be able to dynamically alter the changed addressable address. Also, it may be that this SuperDrive requires a bit more power than provided by many generic equivalent drives. Of course, Apple strives to provide a great product and I suspect this is one of them.

Draws too much power
One of the appeals of Apple products is the fool-proof cross-compatibility of their products. Yet this drive does not function with the new iMac--it draws too much power from the USB, and burned out the hub that I was using to increase the number of ports. Plugging it directly into the iMac also does not work. Probably a faulty drive--quality control problems?

Works Great!
I needed a portable drive to install some software and the old portable drive (Non-Apple) just wasn't up to the task. The new one was easy to hook up and use. Service from B&H was great.

Would Buy Again
Upgraded our old 24 iMac to a new 27 machine. New on does not have a built in CD/DVD drive. Although not much use for one these days, I prefer to still have one. Drive works great and allows adds a little more flexibility to the system.

Excellent Price, Outstanding Quality
This is the third SuperDrive that I have ordered and finally one that works! The other two gave me problems ejecting disks but not the situation here. Always get quality merchandise from B and H and will continue to shop there.

It works!
It was very hard to find a CD/DVD external burner for my MacBook 12 laptop. It tried several but all needed extra external power even though I used the Apple adapter. The Apple USB SuperDrive works just great. Problem solved.

Works so far
Worked out of the box on newer driveless Ma ini. Small, lightweight, and quiet. Haven't had long enough to give it 5 stars.

A MUST HAVE
Since my new Apple desktop computer does not have a CD drive, it was necessary to purchase this separately but I would much rather have a separate CD drive than a huge tower!

Three's the charm? I hope!
Since the latest versions of the MacBook don't have a cd drive, this is a necessary addition. Since I bought my Mac Book Pro last May, this is the third one that I have purchased. Two knocked pout, ... And a major complaint it that when the external drive is plugged (via USB port) into my MacBook, there is no indication of it in the finder? Only (sometimes) when you actually insert a disc into the drive is t=it indicated. It is inconsistent ..sometimes it works, sometimes not... But, since there is no alternative...whaddya gonna do?

Great product, no surprises
This USB SuperDrive by Apple burns fast and plays well. Being USB, it's extremely portable. Before you purchase, make sure you're computer is compatible. Compatible with the following computers: MacBook Pro with Retina display MacBook Air iMac (late 2012) and later Mac mini (late 2009) and later Mac Pro (late 2013) This could save you some heartache if you have an older Mac Pro with a bum DVD burner.

A good purchase!
This is easy to plug and use. The sleek superdrive fits nicely on my iMac base just under the screen. It looks like it came with the computer:-) I burned my first DVD and played several CDs with it. It is a must buy to use with the new Apple computers.
