Incredibly Sharp
Compared to the 85mm f/1.8, this lens is incredibly sharp! I couldn't believe how sharp the detail (eyelashes for instance) was when magnified in Lightroom. Love it and can't wait to use it in my next wedding!

Much better than 50L
After battling focus issues with the 50 1.2L I purchased the 85 L II and and completely satisfied. Plus, the results are amazing and sharp. The focus speed and accuracy is much improved using the 5D3 and 1D X.

AWEsome!
I use this lens for portraits. It is awesome in every respect. Well worth the money for this premium lens. I've only had the lens for a month but I have not found anything I could say negative about the lens.

Perfect for boheh enthusiasts
I use mostly for portrait shots. It's heavy and somewhat bulky but the results are completely worth it. I with it had a faster autofocus feature. The results are sharp and the bokeh is creamy and beautiful.

Portrait Perfection!
I purchased this lens for indoor event photography, barrel racing, but the photos that I have taken of portraits are exquisite. Focus is a bit trickey with this lens but after you get used to it no problem.

On My 5D3 It's Changing My photography
This is the lens for photographic artistry. On a sunny day I had it set wide open at F1.2, 100 ISO, and -8 exposure compensation and the bokeh was out of this world, as is said. It's just a beautiful lens.

One of my favorite lenses
Outstanding lens. Yes, it's a little heavy, but the bokeh is amazing. It's very sharp and I've used it for years with no issues whatsoever. One of the lenses that makes you happy you're shooting Canon.

Sweet portraits
Did a ton of research online before I purchased this lens. It's the most popular portrait lens of the various photographers I follow. Now I know why. If you're into portraits, this is a must-have.

Phenomenal
I read a bunch of reviews on the product and knew the strengths and weaknesses of the lens before I bought it. It surpassed my expectations on focusing in low-light situations and image sharpness.

85mm f/1.2 is all I had hoped for!
I use this lens mostly for portrait photography. Focus is tack sharp and creates such a nice bokeh effect. The weight does not bother me, seem to be the about the same as all the other L lenses.

Best Quality Lens!!
I use this lens for wedding and portrait photography. It creates the most beautiful images with the best bokeh. The f1.2 is spot on and I couldn't be more happy. There is nothing bad about it!!

Magnificent in low light
When you really need a low aperture lens for sport, portrait or low light this is magnificent Would not be the first lens in my bag though - more versatile L series lenses in the Canon line up

Great lens
This lens is obviously limited to its use, but has great optics and perfect for portrait shots. I was looking at theCanon EF 50mm F/1.2L USM, but this lens will give you more versatility.

omg ...buy the expensive one
I was so conflicted about the two 85s...reviews have them being so close...not true. The II 1.2 is sharp as a tack and well worth the money. I have them both. I am selling the other!

pros -Great for portraits -Sharp pictures at f1.8 -Awesome bokeh at f1.2 -Picture need not be post processed cons -Slow focus -Purple fringes prominent at edges at f1.2 in some cases

The best portrait lens
Not much to say other than this is the best portrait lens. Your subjects really pop. I've used the 50mm 1.2 and the 70-200mm 2.8 but there's just something different about this lens.
