I've never written a review on a product before but after purchasing and trying this yesterday it really excited me. I've owned Sennheiser G4, Avx etc but the audio that comes out of this Sony is very close to Studio recording with the original lavalier Mics that comes with it, I can only imagine the possibilities with uprgarding to a Sanken COS 11D what may happen. I've also recorded into the little genius (Zoom H1N) and the recording came out so crisp and rich I was ecstatic that's because I've tried so hard to get the right quality with my recordings. I'm anxious to try recording into the Sound Devices mix pre 3 or 6. Can't ask for more 2 transmitters and total portable power house studio anywhere I go. Don't wast time and money trying out different wireless lavaliers I've did that for you, if you can afford this thing just purchase it. ... More

I do a lot of documentary style videos and have used Sony tethered lavalier mics to do interviews with the audio feeding into a four channel Tascam DR-70 field recorder. I shoot with a Canon C100 Mk II and use an NTG-2 to feed the audio into the camera and then sync the Tascam and C100s audio in post. This has served me well until I had to do two conferences with two speakers talking simultaneously .... and walking around a fair bit. I could not tether them this time. Enter the dual channel Sony URX-P03D and two UTX-B03 transmitters. I fed the audio into the Tascam and was thoroughly impressed with the sound quality I received from them. The conferences were 3 hours plus and the transmitters were still showing a full charge on the AA batteries. Amazing! I wished I had switched to this type of audio capture earlier. Next upgrade will be from the Tascam to a Shure or Sound Devices field recorder. But the sound I got from the Tascam and the Sony wireless is still very high quality. I did not have any opportunity to see how far they reached (I was within 50 feet of the speakers) but for what I do they are solid! Would I recommend these? Absolutely. ... More

This setup works well for anyone looking for wireless lav mics. The transmitters are lightweight and reliable and the receiver is slightly heavier. If you are not familiar with lav mics or sound equipment, there is a steep learning curve, but Sony does a nice job on their website of providing documentation and tutorials. My only complaint is that the receiver eats through batteries like crazy. The transmitters last much longer than the receiver does. Make sure you pack spare batteries!

I'm doing a lot of two person interviews and really like the dual channel receiver with this kit. I used older Sony UTX-B2 wireless lavaliers with separate receivers that I prefer, but the government sold the frequency and now they are expensive paperweights. The advantage of this new system is that I don't have to mount two separate receivers on my camera. What I really don't like is the battery compartment. Rather than a tray with easy access as on the older models (even on the receiver!), the transmitters have a compartment that has to be unlocked by pressing a lock button on opposite sides of the transmittter which is not easy. I'm happy with the sound quality and ease of use otherwise, but fumbling with the battery compartment is crazy and could have been easily avoided by keeping the older design with the tray. ... More

This came perfectly packaged and was easy to set up. Plenty on online Sony discussions on product usage and features to get you going. Run and gun shooting works great with this audio solution and the range is nuts! Clear sound and syncing is done in a flash! Definitely worth considering for the price and as a complete solution.

The only drawback is that Sony doesn't make this unit yet in an NFC version. It works fine with the new NFC packs, but you have to manually enter the frequency on the transmitters. Sort of a pain, but I still just scan for the clearest channels on the receiver & then enter those channels on each receiver. The ability to monitor & run a boom from a mini trs cable into this unit is pretty remarkable for a run & gun situation.

I have URX-P03D #1 connected via the smadp3d to the A7C. The second URX-P03D is connected to the mic input of #1 phantom invert out 1/2. This mixes channels 1L-3L and 2R-4R. I can balance the mix via the output/mic input levels. Mounted on a smallrig cage, #2 fits nicely to the right of #1. This makes a very compact configuration. I made a 3 male locking cable to insure proper grounding. This works really well.

These mics are great. They sound good, with good lav placement, are convenient to have on 2 radio channels, and look professional. The drawback is that in shifting urban environments the mics pick up a lot of interference and will cut out unless you are constantly finding a clear channel. But for me, I would rather have good audio and work a little harder than purchase poor mics with a better range.

Love it

B&H support couldn't help me and sony support still hasn't responded to my service support after five days. I'm returning the item in favor of the UTX-B03 which I know works with this camera. I'm annoyed by the lack of support and online information about compatibility.

Sennheiser's AVX offerings had numerous issues ranging from consistently sucking at auto-leveling, and Rode's audio quality is lackluster. These work great, sound great, and are mostly* easy to setup. *mostly because the menus take some getting used to.

I have used this one several corporate shoots so far and it pairs up well with my FX6/A1/A7S3. The hotshoe mount accessory is a must-have since this receiver eats up AA batteries and you have one less wire connection to worry about. While the stock mic has been working well, I plan to upgrade to the ECM-77 mics for upgraded RF shielding.

Work beautifully and very cleanly.
