I thought the stock mic with the Sony UWP V1 was pretty good, but after hearing so much about this one I decided to pull the trigger. I had two wireless sets and needed a backup, and now this is my main mic and one of the stock mics is backup. This mic has taken my work to the next level. A very good wireless system with an average mic is cheating yourself. The richness gives that pro feel I've been looking for. A happy camper!

I have used the ECM-77 for years in different configurations. This is a workhorse lav mic of broadcast ENG. Sound is always clean and crisp without any colouring. The capsule is reasonably small and unobtrusive. The included metal windscreen works well for its size but you do need something like a microcat windscreen to really stop wind noise. Unfortunately like most things Sony, the accessories are really expensive. It's a good thing Pearstone make much cheaper accessories for the 77.

When it's working, it sounds great. The problem is, we use this product 10+ hours per day for live news broadcasts, and they are not robust enough. We have had 5 caps go bad in just as many months. Never seen anything like it. Costing us a lot of money to have to replace on a regular basis. I'm going to dish out more money this time for the Sanken mic in hopes that it will have a longer life.

Only mike to use with Sony transmitters

This mike has a good pattern, small enough to hide, great for the speaking vocal range, and essential for use with Sony transmitters. Sony transmitter pack a lot into their signal, (encryption, pairing signal, along with the freq. you are transmitting on) and this mike is shielded properly to prevent transmitter noise and interference.

This mic is for my slot-in wireless package used on my Sony F800. The build is good, audio is nice and clean, it's not too directional so you can place the mic in hidden clothing areas and point it in a convenient direction. If you have a few extra bucks, i'd recommend going for the Sanken model over this one.

As with all things video no matter how much you spend you will always have to spend more. The standard mic that comes with the Sony UWP-V1 kit I found to be horrible, after some research I went with the ECM-77BMP to replace the kit mic. It is a huge improvement , sound clarity is 10/10. This was extra money I was quite happy to spend!

I've used this product once so far and I'll be using it in an upcoming shoot. So far so good! I particularly like the size of the mic, it's small and discreet. The sound I've captured from it has been great. The downside is that it isn't compatible with seinheizer transmitters. It only works with my sony packs. Otherwise, it's a mic I'll be using for a long time.

Great mic, the broadcast standard!

I've been using the ECM-77b for almost 15 years now, first with Lectrosonics transmitters, then with Sony. I'm very happy with it! The ECM series been the broadcast standard for decades. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I love the 77b because it's tiny, and the windscreen and mic clip is made of solid metal, not plastic. No coloration in sound, and very easy to hide.

Nice sound!
