The Do-it-all Travel Camera

Apr 1, 2016

This camera is the catalyst for my switch from Nikon. I had a D5100 and four lenses. Now that I've switched to this camera and its comparatively tiny lenses, my bag is so much lighter. The photos and videos from this camera are superb. This is probably the best option available right now for a small camera with 4k video - the NX1 is dying, and the other options (GX7, RX100) have fixed lenses and smaller sensors. The camera is slow to turn on many... Show More

The mini a7r II

Apr 16, 2016

To start off, Sony did it right (as they always do) with the a6300! I love everything about it! This camera is great for sports, portraits, landscapes, traveling, and even low light photography! I mostly shoot Landscapes and Portraits and this camera does the job perfectly! The image quality is fantastic! Love the new eye auto focus continuous! It's a bit laggy when the model moves to fast, but overall a plus. The 4K video is simply outstanding!!... Show More

A new paradigm in APS-C cameras

Mar 23, 2016

The a6300 reminds me of all the reasons I love (and was still using) my nex-7. This camera does a lot of things very, very well. The people who complain about what it lacks or cannot do are really missing the point. To get the specs and quality that this camera delivers in this form factor at this price point is nothing less than amazing. The image quality for stills is excellent. But where the a6300 really shines is it's UHD (4k) video quality w... Show More

A lot of bang for your buck!

Mar 23, 2016

This review is about stills mainly.I have been a Canon shooter for the past 10 years and this little guy is keeping up with my Canon 5dmkii. It is also my first APS-C size camera that I have used in professional work. The image quality keeps blowing me away of what this $ camera can produce. Keeping it under 800 ISO can produce large printable images that can be used in most professional shoots. The size of the a6300 may be a bit to small for ext... Show More

Amazing Camera with Fatal Flaws

Jan 20, 2017

This is one of the most frustrating cameras ever. You want to love it because it produces gorgeous images in super high resolution, but the flaws ruined it for me. I bought it exclusively for its 4K video ability and I was well aware of the short comings, like the notorious overheating and rolling shutter. I really thought for what I did there would be decent work-arounds available to make the camera usable. However, this wasn't necessarily the c... Show More

Great camera with one annoyance for me

Apr 6, 2016

I have shot Nikon and started shooting Sony about a year ago and have had the a6000, and have the a7rii and sold the 6000 and upgraded to the 6300 and love everything about the camera except the tiny flat control wheel on the back! If Sony would only make this whell more pronounced and with a more positive clicks it would be perfect for me, as i use this wheel mostly configured to adjust my shutter speed in manual mode and have disabled the left,... An Excellent Camera for Travel

Aug 4, 2016

I purchased this camera as a replacement for my Nikon D7200 primarily because the body is about 1/2 the weight (361gm vs. 675gm). However, because of my investment in Nikon lenses, I also purchased a Vello auto lens adapter for my Nikon lenses in addition to the Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens. The A6300 and Sony lens are a nice compact combination for street photography. The addition of the Vello adapter with my Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6GII E... Show More

Ridiculous value

Jul 12, 2017

I am mainly a road cycling and mountain biking filmmaker and photographer (some outdoor adventure/travel too) and I bought this camera for two reasons. The first was to have a lightweight companion camera to my c100 that could film slowmo and 4k if necessary. It's been absolutely amazing here. Using slog 2 and 3 you can get really solid slowmo footage for web distribution. So far it honestly looks just as good as the footage from the a7s ii. I ha... Show More

Small, light weight Sony a6300

Jan 10, 2017

I'm a Nikon guy, been using a D7200. Size and weight, I'm just not going to carry this camera around. The Sony a6300 began to occupy my research time. I finally caved and bought it!? I carry this camera to work everyday! I'm happy with file size, as the Sony and Nikon are both DX and 24MP. I have found the Sony to be frustrating to use, but then I'm use to manual cameras and the Sony is not that! However, I am getting more at ease with the Sony. ... Show More

Great C Cam, not so much A or even B

Oct 25, 2016

So, I start by rating this camera as a 4 star, just because there is no 3.75 rating, because that is where I honestly feel this camera sits. Like all cameras, it's not perfect. But for what it is, it's a great addition to any DP's toolkit. As a. Professional, reliability is key. This camera isn't that. Micro HDMI is not suitable and at times drops the 4K (To Atomos shogun) and outputs a 1080p50 signal (PALville). I have to pull out the battery to... Show More

Great camera BUT....

Feb 11, 2017

I'm thoroughly impressed with the image quality of this camera but only if you record in 4K. Arguably the 1080 image straight out of the camera is of lesser quality in terms of sharpness, which is something you're defaulted to if recording in the 120fps format. The menu format is structured similar to other mirrorless cameras so if you have previously owned the a6000, a7s, or others then you should be able to find your way around this one fairly ... The entire process from research to purchase, to pictures was excellent. The Sony A6300 has surprised and amazed this novice photographer from opening the box. Worthy upgrade from the a6000

Mar 23, 2016

The new EVF and more robust body are great. Still photos are similar to my a6000, with a slight edge to the a6300 at higher ISOs. Video-wise, the must-have for me is Slog2, which I use on my RX10II. I have been able to color-match them very well. I use manual focus lenses mostly, so the only AF testing I have done has been with the 16-50 kit lens and it seems to work well. 4k 24p footage looks amazing. It's very detailed, colors well in post, and... Show More

Great Image Quality, Quirky Controls

Apr 14, 2016

I Chose the Sony a6300 as the most compact APS-C camera I could find that would have image quality comparable to my full-frame DSLR cameras. Using an adapter, I can shoot with my pro full-frame lenses and see little or no image quality difference. The 35mm 1.8 OSS Sony lens I bought with the camera also works fine. Or I can use the 16-50 pancake lens and drop the whole package into my coat pocket! This camera is great to handle, and the magnesium... Show More

A powerful, yet camera

Sep 22, 2016

My rating is actually 4.5 stars because no camera (or lens) is perfect - - always room for improvement. But the A6300 comes close to fulfilling most of my needs. My first ILC was the NEX 6, so the comments are based on the improvements on that camera. Like many people I know who have DSLRs I found myself leaving the DSLR home more & more because all the equipment was just too heavy and the camera bag too bulky. After reading many reviews on the a6300, I decided to try one out. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and the results are quite good. I was waiting for over a year for this camera but I am now a bit disappointed. While still and generally 4k Video are really good in terms of picture quality, even with the bad kit lens, the camera/sensor overheats in about 12-15 minutes indoors (4k 24p). I had a NEX5, NEX 6 and A6000, I loved all 3 of them, so this seemed like a logical next move up in cameras. My A6300 arrived yesterday.
