Cool wide angle 4K shooter

Apr 3, 2016

I bought this camera to capture short 4K beauty shots of properties that I do widescreen presentations at. I also like to shoot pictures in the ballroom of the events. This camera was the latest reasonable 4K video shooter when I bought it. But you get the feeling that no one really knows how to handle 4K yet. So far the footage has turned out really nice and crisp when I turned off the steady shot. With the steady shot on, there were some strang... Show More

Lightweight Alternative to a DSLR

Jan 2, 2017

I have been avoiding Sony products for a while as I was one of many people that got burned by their root-kit exploit as well as battery issues with other products. I am a happy Cannon and Olympus photographer, but was having trouble spending $2000 on the newest Olympus camera. I got the Sony A6300 based on DPREVIEW reviews as I prefer a lighter camera when wandering around town or for short trips. The A6300 is as fast as my Olympus with better re... Show More

Excellent price for this little beast.

May 30, 2016

I recently purchased an a6300 and have been very impressed thus far. After a couple of days testing it out and playing with 4K, 1080 at 120p and all the different picture profiles, I finally did a full shoot with this camera last weekend. I shot an entire commercial spot using the a6300, metabones speed booster and canon glass. I had it rigged on my jib crane, steadycam, shoulder mount, tripod and even handheld at some points. I didn't have any i... Show More

This camera overheats even in photo mode after using it on a long day job. The best work tool is the one that is reliable not the one has great image. I bought a used one in brand new condition not new but it just came out so it's not like it was used for long time and the shouter count on it was 0. After reading endless reviews i went ahead and purchased this camera along with two top end Sony lens. After playing around with it for two days I went right back to BandH and returned it for the Nikon. No i was not thrilled by the Nikon's size, weight or what seems will soon be technology of the past (its not mirrorless) but at the end of the day the image quality on the a6300 just wasnt' up to par. Serious overheat issue

Aug 25, 2016

I bought the camera about a month ago, took a few pictures and was quite happy with it as the camera was fast, easy to use and the picture quality was wonderful. Today, I went to visit the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden, and this is the first time I had serious use for the camera. I was just taking photos using the scenery setting of the camera, no video recording. After taking about 25-30 pictures (about couple a mins), the camera overheated, t... Show More

Excellent Camera For The Price

Mar 28, 2016

This is probably one of the best cameras for the price on the market right now. All of the slow autofocus issues in the a6000 have been addressed and the real time live view is like nothing I've shot with.Having worked with more professional grade video/photo cameras in the past the form factor of this camera can be a little lack luster with limited i/o options and a lot of the functionality buried in the menu systems. That being said I really ca... Show More

For the Price, Untouchable

Sep 12, 2016

Filmmaker review here. Excellent camera for the price. Autofocus in video mode is the best I've ever used. Kit lens is extremely viable in many situations. Filming people running fast on horses at 120 fps/1080p and it can keep everything in focus at f3.5. 4k mode is gorgeous but prone to jello effect/rolling shutter. Moving the camera quickly or much at all while shooting generally has a bad rolling shutter effect at 24 or 30 fps. However I got a... Show More

Best and beyond for what you pay!!

Sep 28, 2016

Being my first camera, I did a lot of research before purchasing this one. I've heard good things about it. However as the reviews said, it had some problems - overheating and bad rolling shutter! However once I got the camera, those weren't an issue at all! The rolling shutter is there but there isn't a time you would move the camera fast unless it was intentional. Overheating is mostly solved with the new firmware and using high speed memory ca... Show More

A6300 Atuo Focus Superstar

Apr 13, 2016

I just recently upgraded from the very competent Sony a6000. After lengthy consideration and research I decided to make the jump to the a6300. I'm happy to report after using the camera for 2 weeks it was a great decision. The feature I have been most impressed by is the auto focus. I have given this guy a solid run with the Sony 16-70 F4 ZA OSS and Sony 70-200 F4 G OSS. Subjects have included kids and dogs moving all over the place and birds and... Show More

May 24, 2016

Great camera all around. I bought it specifically for the 120fps/1080.. I will be testing this feature extensively in the next few weeks. The 4k is beautiful, but as EVERYONE is reporting, the camera WILL overheat in the 15-20min mark.. depending on weather conditions. Sony FIXED this problem in the A7S II with a Firmware update (most likely raising the temperature restriction in-camera). HOPEFULLY, this happens with the A6300. In the meantime, I... Show More

good quality mirrorless package

Mar 7, 2017

The a6300 kit is a really nice package for those who either don't want to lug around a DSLR with relatively heavy lens, want something easy to travel with, or want something that maximizes image quality for its size at a fairly reasonable price. The 16-50mm kit lens is okay, with the power zoom feature being useful for video. The 55-210mm kit lens is particularly useful for its telephoto reach, with images being rather good, considering the cost ... Show More

This camera knocks most sub-$1000 DSLRs out of the water. First andforemost, the camera is extremely compact, for an APS-C sized sensor. The included kit lens is very sharp, and great for video work as well, as the zoom is smooth and quiet. 4K image quality on this camera is amazing. Coming from the A6000, I find the improvements in the A6300 to be worthwhile. Metal vs. plastic makes a big difference in confidence in use. The viewfinder is far superior. In the 6000, it was a tossup between the viewfinder and LCD for composing. Now the EVF provides a better vantage point. I love the AF/MF switch as I can go directly to DMF to get that great focus needed for F1.8. There are many more shooting bracket choices. Some may be not us... Show More
