Nice gadget
Just got it so no track record yet. Seems well made and solid for a travel tripod. Does not however fold back on itself like many others do so it is about the size of the head longer than some others when folded. About 20.5 inches vs 17.5 of the Gitzo. Have the RRS B30 head with it. RRS says they choose not to fold the tripod upon itself since if various heads are used the legs would not close nicely due to the size of the head. The Gitzo works nicely with their head but with other heads it will not close as well either.

Finally Got It
Did not know RRS made a Tripod that would be considered a compact travel tripod. Chose this over the Gitzo based on its reputation and the fact that its made in the USA. I matched it up with the RRS BH30 ball head and the combination is a work of art. If you do not live near B&H or RRS you will have to purchase this unseen. You will not be disappointed and its worth every penny.

Compact, Light Weight, Sturdy
Purchase this tripod based on a friends recommendation as a sturdy, compact and light weight tripod for travel photography. It meets all of those criteria, stably supporting a 5DMkIV in many situations including very long exposures (5 minutes) in windy conditions. Expensive but well built. This is my second RRS carbon fiber tripod.
