Exactly what I was looking for

Oct 3, 2019

I added a Canon 300mm to my arsenal (used), and it came with an arca plate which I had never dealt with. Did a lot of reading, and it led me to this head to use on my monopod for shooting sports with this lens. I've only used it a couple times so far, but very happy. Easy to operate the lever, and once locked in, the lens (and body) don't move. Haven't had a need to do much panning up and down shooting football to comment on the knob, etc. But very happy with my purchase so far. Pricey, but rock solid. I have no worries of my expensive lens doing anything I don't expect it to.

Really nice Head

Very good build and functionality. The only complaint is the higher price. If you want the best, the price must be paid. Thanks for a quality product that I will use for years to come.

Cant say anything more about RRS that havent been said. Im really happy with my purchase and with BH store for shipping same day. The only thing I have to do is to change position of the plate, otherwise its hard to work with ever and knob - key was supplied.

A sweet combination!

Dec 16, 2018

Attaching the Really Right Stuff Monopod Head to a Gitzo Carbon Monopod Series 4(RRS didnt offer a monopod) and using the DOCZ Foot Stabilizer allowed me to preform mirror up shots on the Nikon D810. Using the cable release will give you quality landscape images in areas where tripods a prohibited in certain public gardens. This combination gave me much better images than hand holding the camera. I was impressed in how quick the vibrations were dampened to allow the mirror up shots. Thanks to B&H for providing the greatest of products and services at a competitive price.

Excellent monopod head.

I have used RRS ball heads and L-brackets for years and it's well worth the price. Everything is top quality precision equipment. The monopod head is no different.

level tilt is the way to go

May 8, 2018

I have had other monopods heads and they have always creeped on me. I have also had monopod ball heads and the tilt is the best way to go for me anyway.. This monopod head didn't creep and was very sturdy even with my big 500mm prime lens on it. The first time I used it out of the box the screw holding the lever release clamp to the head base started to come lose so just make sure you tighten itbefore you use it.. I have since tightened it and it has not come lose since.. Just wish I would have gotten one sooner..

Just what I expected

Mar 30, 2018

This is an extremely solid and reliable head with one degree of freedom in rotation. I was surprised at the size of the locking knob, it is larger than I thought and it allows one to easily torque down even the heaviest rig. The lever release is also far more robust than the pictures and descriptions made it appear...it has 2 positions: (1) half-open, which allows the Arca-plate to be shifted along the axis of the mount, and (2) fully-open, which... The best Monopod head

Superb craftsmanship, engineering, and ergonomics. If you can afford it and need a monopod head, then this is the one to get.

Not Well Designed

Jun 27, 2017

The purpose for a mono pod head is to allow a small amount of play so that the camera and lens can be tilted up/down in the field. It requires a design that allows a smooth transition from tight and unmovable to just loose enough so that it can be tilted without violently falling forward or backwards and this is where the MH-01 falls short. It almost breaks your fingers as the lens falls unexpectantly. I sent mine back to be fixed but they said t... Show More

Very pleased

May 15, 2017

As usual, a great product from RRS. Yes, it's expensive, but I'll never need to buy another one. Plus, I can rotate the mounting plate if needed and it has the notch-outs for the safety pins found on their lens mounts - and those pins have saved my lens from tumbling off a time or two. Well worth the price IMO.

Everything one could want in a monopod head. Typical first class RRS engineering and machining. Should last a lifetime.
