I am collecting stuff I am recording like a DVR Using the Hauppauge Colossus. HD video takes a lot of space. This 3TB drive is perfect foe storage of my video collection. I wish I could afford 4 or 5 of them. Also, It just went on sale for $ cheaper and B&H cheerfully refunded the difference. It happened so quickly and so easily, I was delighted.I have tried many brands, WD has been the most reliable. I am always tempted by price and then this 3TB for under $. It is the best.

Perfect Review
Came very fast to my door (like 3 days), plugged it into my Windows 7 machine (USB 2.0 only) and IT WORKS. I'm not sure what else I wanted, or what else to say, just - it works! And is very fast even with USB 2.0). The cable that comes with it plugs into either USB 3.0 or USB 2.0. No reformatting, no setup, just plug in and go! Nice job WD.

Great External Hard Drive & Value!
I'm using the hard drive for storing our iTunes library which consists of 400+ CDs. The drive offers plenty of storage space and for the price you can't beat it. It's quiet, runs cool and the USB 3.0 is a noticeable improvement in transfer speeds. The only negative would be that the USB 3.0 cable that comes with the drive is way too short so I had to go buy a longer cable.

Great, reliable product
I frequently use this HDD for different film projects and it hasn't failed me so far. I love the looks, and it is very quiet. Great quality, as expected from WD. I used to have Seagates in the past and they would fail very frequently, so Im staying with WD for now.

Hard working Hard Drive
It's hard to say much about a hard drive as you rarely notice it unless it fails. This is my forth WD and they are reliable and easy to set up.

I reformatted the disk for use with the Apple time machine for my MacBook. Works very well for what it's supposed to do - take backups.

This is the third one i bought. I'm on Mac computers. Reformatting per their instruction and then drag and drop or use a backup software. I love these and they are very portable.

Works just fine!
A perfect plain vanilla hard drive. I found the directions on line to set up for a Mac and it's just sitting there quietly waiting to be used. Now I just need to find the time to do a lot of transferring.

No Password Protection
I purchased a 3TB WD Elements HDD thinking that it would be similar to the 3TB WD My Book HDD that I already own. Unfortunately, it's not possible to password protect this item, so I returned it and ordered a WD My Book HDD.

we use two of these hard drives as a nightly backup for our file server, the first one has been working solid for over a year and the second hard drive has been working great so farn would definitely recommend these

Received it very quickly and it works just fine. I have Windows 7 64 bit and am using this external HD for backup. My PC is a Dell, with a WD hard drive. Since I have never used an external HD larger than 2TB, I did not know that I had to reformat the HD before doing my first backup with a system image. Problem-free, good value
The fact that there is very little to say about this external drive is thing one of what's good about it. It arrived, I connected it and it was good to go. I'll use it for backing up. It's a ton of storage for the price; that's thing two of what's good about it.

Nice Price and a lot of space
It is really nice hard disc the only one thing i dont know is why it has a on/off button if it doesnt work. at least mine doesnt do anything. but its really fast.

3TB Elements External Hard Drive
I use my 3TB external hard drive to back up both laptops. I have a lot of music on two laptops and a desktop, pictures, videos, and games. It is great because its quiet when it backs up files. Its convenient as well to my needs. The only thing that I can point out about this hard drive is that since its larger it has to remain plugged in to an outlet while the files are being backed up so that you don't loose any data. Great for the office
Purchased for all the Mac Pros in the office. Works great with Time Machine so far...in the 2 weeks we have put them to use. Very east to setup...pretty much a plug and play unit. Have a other WD products that have been just as wonderful.

Lots of storage on the cheap
I use this external HDD to backup my work files. 3TB is plenty of storage as long as you aren't dealing with movies/large images. The price/GB on this product was great, best i've seen on a 3TB+ drive.
