Nice little camera

Apr 26, 2017

Bought this purely for portability. Pleased to find that in good lighting conditions this is capable of very good images, especially fine detail in close ups. Its 5x zoom is plenty & operates smoothly. The low res screen suffices. It can be charged by directly connecting camera to a USB charger, but a bit peeved that it is supplied with a USB cable that has a proprietary plug on the camera end. It is very intuitive to use which is just as well as the supplied printed instructions are pitiful.

Good camera, rubbish battery

Sep 13, 2017

As a camera the cybershot is brilliant. Compact, light yet robust. For a point and shoot it is feature rich and really easy to use, though understandibly being a compact optical zoom is limited. Picture quality is fantastic even with fast moving small objects. However it massively loses points for it's appalling battery life. Even after a full charge it the light was flashing within a couple of hours. A replacement battery was the same. Great as a small camera, but take spare batteries!

Very easy to use

Jul 26, 2017

For it's price, the picture quality is quite acceptable. One can always argue that there are better cameras out there, however, they are more complex to use. This is so easy (which is what we wanted for a relative's birthday) and is so easy to set and use that even someone unused to photography can get a good picture. This is what the expression "point and shot" was intended to mean. Very pleased with the build quality as well. Recommended for all who want to point, shoot and get a photo

A simple camera that takes great photos

Jul 27, 2015

Basic instructions are given so play around & get used to it then work out what resolution is best for your pics. It's capable of taking good quality, clear images. You're expected to have prior knowledge about getting your photos off the memory card! This lightweight camera performs well, takes fairly quick photos, the battery recharges in a couple of hours, it could do with a strap to secure it in your hand (nowhere to attach one!) & is slightly difficult to turn on as the button is small.

Completely dissatisfied, poor quality picture!

Oct 9, 2017

Wanted high resolution camera 4 detailed photos of needlework projects. Definition poor is an under statement. Zoom in close is extremely grainy. Returned camera but refused refund saying camera has been used. Struggle to comprehend how anyone can verify quality if no picture taken. Also had 2 purchase camera card separately. Argos overview says 'Crisp Photos' so didn't feel need to check reviews. Just have - "phone takes better photos ".... I have cheap basic phone n couldn't agree more!

Fab little starter camera for our 8 year old.

Jan 5, 2018

Camera from a well known brand, sensibly priced, (so not the end of the world, should it meet a sticky end), reasonable quality, which we purchased for our son at Christmas. He's so pleased with it. 20 mega pixel, so decent quality photos, plus movie mode 720p. Basic features so not confusing for those baffled by multiple modes, features & options. I'd recommend this to anyone after a simple low end compact camera, especially for a child of this sort of age with an interest in photography.

Try before you buy as you get what you pay for!

Apr 24, 2017

I bought this camera as a stand in for when my iPhone's battery runs out during a day event. I found it was hard to focus, you had to keep it extremely still to get decent photos and the results were blurry and when in focus were very grainy. White balance is too bright and the zoom isn't better than on my iPhone. The camera it's self is very well made and easy-to-use and didn't pick up any scratches being thrown around in my bag. I would not recommend it unless you want a cheap camera.

Good size and build

Jan 6, 2018

Reasonably priced camera macro is very good although camera can struggle in back lighting. Bought for my 3 year old 'advanced' photographer son who loves taking photos. Has an 'Easy' mode where you just point and shoot however has more advanced features such as exposure compensation. The picture quality isn't the best but it is the limitations of of compact with a small sensor. Mega pixels are not everything as camera produces want you to think they are.

Great value and quality

Jun 12, 2017

I needed something to carry around with me all the time when walking and cycling as my SLR is too clumsy for this. The DSC-W800 does the job, the picture quality is superb. It is easy to use and understand as it automatically selects the right picture mode. Battery life is good and videos great at 720p so long as there is plenty of light. WiFi/GPS would be nice, but not going to happen at this price.I love it, its great for all ages and abilities.

Great Little Camera

Sep 22, 2014

I had a Sony Cybershot for the last c.8years and unfortunately it fell a few weeks ago and broke. For me, there was no question but to replace it with a new model of the same camera. The new one is smaller and much lighter than my previous one (still getting used to that!) but the picture quality is really excellent and I am not any class of photographer... I just zoom in/out and click!! So far, extremely pleased with my purchase!

Early days

Oct 17, 2017

Not yet had time to investigate the full capabilities of the camera as included instructions only cover set up. Full details have to be checked out on line. As this was a last minute purchase before leaving for a country with less than ideal access to the internet this was somewhat frustrating and resulted in some missed photo opportunities. However, what photos/video I did manage to shoot were, on the whole, of good quality.

Basic camera, does it's job.

Aug 14, 2018

My old Samsung digital camera stopped working just before the vacation, so bought something basic in addition to the phone to capture memories. Easy to use, size and quality seems to be good. The charger cable has a lot of parts, bulky to carry, not compatible with my universal USD cables. Picture quality looks OK, but colours look artificial. Battery lasted for the whole 10 days. Would recommend for quick cheap replacement.

A compact camera with "BIG" features

Sep 6, 2019

I am not really "tech-minded" but within days of purchase I 've found some wonderful features on this compact camera. I am especially impressed by the "panoramic ability" and review features. On purchase all I really wanted was to take "snapshots" - ordinary photos. Having looked at the product I now think simple snaps will soon be a thing of the past for me. THANKS A LOT FOR ENHANCING MY PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCE.

Sony Cybershot

I had been thinking about buying a camera for some time and started to browse the web to see what was available. I'd heard some good things about these Sony Camera's and liked the look of it. I am going to Tenerife in a few weeks, so I decided to take the plunge. A very compact camera with plenty of helpful functions, that make taking photos a breeze. To date, I have had no problems and don't anticipate any.

excellent style and size

Jul 4, 2018

purchased for my 90 year old as a replacement digital camera, it is very neat and stylish. have shown her how to use this camera, hope she does manage as it is small, however with the strap to go around the wrist should have not a problem with dropping it. Took some photo's when she was given it, and they look good on viewing. Cannot wait for her return from Rome to see all photo's in print.

Picture quality is not that great, my iPhone takes better shots - this was purchased so I didn't have to take my phone everywhere on holiday. Have been having a few problems when using, keeps asking me to reinsert the Memory Card - which I have only just started using and is not full. When switched on off and on it corrects itself. Not entirely happy with purchase. Will look to return.

Bought for School trip

Mar 31, 2015

I got this as my son was off on a week long trip to Italy. He had no practice with it before he went and still managed to get a lot of good photos. Some are a bit blurred, but that's probably down to the user more than the camera, The panoramic shots are really good, but if people are moving through the shot the results are... interesting. I'm looking forward to trying it out myself.

Small and compact

I recently bought this camera to use at work for documentation purposes. It's easy to use and has the functions you would expect from a cheap basic camera. The photos taken in good lighting conditions are respectable, clear and in focus. I don't really use this camera in low lighting conditions so can't really comment on this area I'm overall happy with this purchase

A good little camera

Apr 5, 2017

I am very impressed by my new Sony camera. It seems to be quite sturdily built, and the few photos that I have taken to date have been excellent. Transferring from the camera to the computer is a piece of cake. It's handy size means it can be slipped into a pocket and can be ready for action. Well done Sony, and well done Argos for stocking such a marvellous little tool.

Good solid point and shoot.

Sep 9, 2015

This sony camera was a replacement for a polaroid that I'd purchased a week before. The polaroid was beyond rubbish. This sony camera is miles ahead in quality and lucky for me I was able to swap it at my local argos by a great and helpful manager. Feels like it is good quality, solid and takes sharp pictures which don't lose any detail when enlarged on my pc. Good buy.

Ive always liked the Sony cyber-shot cameras, I have 2 of its predecessors. I like that you can charge this camera directly through the camera without the need for a stand alone battery charger. The camera fits well in your hand and is also very easy to use. Slimline and good looking camera, i would recommend this to anyone as a general purpose point and shoot camera.

So easy to use

Jan 23, 2018

I am not good with phones and gadgets and found this camera easy to use that my friend has also just purchased one. I took it to a concert, flash good, a nice zoom button for closeup pictures of the band. lightweight and fits great in the side pocket of my handbag. I had a really helpful assistant who went through everything with me several times before I purchased it.

Good camera for the penny

Jul 24, 2015

For the money, it is quite an ok camera. Nice and tiny, fits in any pocket. Pictures are not the best of quality if you use an auto setting, and it doesn't work well in really bright environment. If you know how to adjust the settings manually, go for it but otherwise I would choose a different camera. Battery discharges quite quickly, lasted about two evenings.

Sony W800

Feb 23, 2017

Excellent point and shoot camera, obviously low on features but is a budget camera. However the features it does have gives it the edge on its rivals. My one draw back is in low light, although the flash is good, the picture can easily come out blurry and a steady hand is definitely needed. Other than that its a great basic camera that does the job.
