Excellent for the price

Feb 28, 2013

This is a much sturdier tripod than I expected for its price and its size and weight. I could understand all the adjustments intuitively and can easily set it up wearing ski gloves. The padding on the upper section looks as if it can both protect the tripod from damage and prevent having to touch the metal in freezing weather. Although the ad didn't mention it, the center post can be inverted to do macro photography.

Light Weight

Jan 28, 2013

This is a nice compact tripod good for use with the new oh so light weight compact digital cameras. Very easy to carry but you'll need to be careful not to bump while shooting as it is NOT heavy duty. It does seem to be well constructed and I feel it will work well for my backpacking/hiking needs.

Great for travel and easy to use.

Jan 27, 2013

Lightweight and small so it is perfect for travel. Sets up quickly. Fairly stable for being so lightweight. My only complaint is that the ball head tightener does not tighten enough for the camera not to droop slightly (with Nikon d3200 and 18 - 55 lens) which is inconvenient especially for close-ups. It has an easy on an off camera mount. This tripod definitely meets my current needs and will be perfect for taking to Rome.

Works great for my application

Dec 8, 2012

To start, I'm shooting something a little different from this than what most expect. This tripod supports my 16 pound rifle for observation and firing from just about any position I need to be in. At first I was a little concerned about a tripod rated for 4.5 pounds holding a 16 pound rifle that costs more than most high end DSLR's. However, after seeing a 45 pound weight sitting on one of these tripods my worries went away pretty quick. It's not... Show More

Perfect Travel Tripod

Nov 12, 2012

This is by far the best tripod for travel that I have ever owned. It is light, it is incredibly sturdy and high quality, plus it's cheap! I love ballheads for travel since they're so light and compact, but this one is strong enough to hold even my heavy Yashica TLR sideways without complaint. DSLRs won't even make it sweat. Even so, if you don't like it, it's an easy swap for a larger head. This is a high quailty, versatile tripod that won't slow you down. Get it.

Great light weight travel tripod.

Nov 1, 2012

This tripod is incredibly lightweight and works great with my Canon T3i and a 17mm-50mm lens. My camera and lens weigh around 2.5 lbs together. This tripod can easily support the weight. I extended it fully and there were no signs of the legs bending. The quick release is sturdy and easy to use. I am very satisfied with this tripod! The only downside I could see is in high winds, the tripod can shake a bit because of its light weight.

I would highly recommend this product.

I use basically outdoor shooting, therefore the weight and the size matters to me. Unlike many of other tripod, Sprint Pro II GM Tripod is so light weighted and so compact it is so convenient to carry it around. It's compare to most luxurious tripod one can have.

Light and Portable

Sep 25, 2012

Considering this is a well built, compact tripod at this price point, it functions perfectly. So long as you don't go over it's recommended weight requirements, this tripod is great for travel are hiking purposes. My tiniest complaint though would have to be the very end of the legs. They are built fair enough to the recommended weight but anything more I can see the end of the legs, which are the thinnest, to start to warp or bend.

Good, not great

Mar 9, 2012

Solid product overall. It does the job and is very light, which is the point of it after all. The ball head has a hard time staying in one place and so the camera likes to tilt downward. The baseplate comes loose fairly easy as well so you have to make sure to tighten them down real well. I wouldn't use this as your main tripod, but if you plan on traveling or backpacking then you should give this one at least some consideration.

Better than I expected

Jan 19, 2012

You ever make a mistake and say to yourself, Darn I am glad this happened I purchased this tripod on the recommendation of Scott Kelby in one of his books. It turns out that I already owned the basic tripod! So why not send it back and buy something else? First off while the construction is the same as what I owned, the many improvements on this model made it extremely viable to keep and enjoy this tripod. First it comes with a great ball head an... Great.. for a while

Dec 31, 2011

Had this tripod for about a year and took it with me on bicycle trips because of it's compact size. Its a great tripod but after a year the legs have started to fall apart an it now has one leg with only one section operating. I have tried to put it back together but it just doesn't seem to work. But maybe I jut got a weird one. haven't had any other problems with slik tripods in the past.

Perfect Light weight Tripod

Nov 12, 2011

Bought this to strap to my back pack while taking short hikes. Used to support Samsung tl500. Worked great- even in cold weather. Easy to carry over the shoulder or by hand too. It will support DSLR- like a Rebel sized one or a XXD. Not the best for that, but better than not having one. Because it is easy to carry, it will get the job done.

Awesome Tripod

Aug 30, 2011

Definitely a tripod for hiking, backpacking, etc. It is light and seems to be strong. I like that each leg just drops to the ground - self adjusting so to speak. Then all I have to do is tighten the legs and good to go. Ball joint seems smooth and reliable. My canon 40D with mid range zoom does fine on this tripod, even on uneven ground - just use a little common sense if camera weight seems off balance. Plastic is used quite a bit and of course that's why she is so light. Tripod seems well engineered and put together.

Nice little tripod

Aug 11, 2011

Very light weight and compact. Perfect for Canon SX30IS bridge camera. Tripod knobs operate flawlessly. Worked well with camera in vertical position too. A much larger camera and/or lens could destabilize the tripod. Vertical camera position might slip with heavy lens.

Excellent quality for the price.

Jun 30, 2011

I've been using my Slik for about two weeks now and couldn't be happier with it's performance. Especially since it's a sub-$100 tripod that weighs about 1kg. I've mounted a D5000 w/grip, SB-700, and either of my heavier lenses (10-24, 55-300) and there have been no problems with stability. The build quality is pretty robust for it's price range. The versatility is great for when i want to reverse the whole thing and mount my camera underneath for... Show More

Carried this while hiking mountain ridges on a trip and climbing some miserable volcanic cinder to shoot dslr video and was thankful for its light weight and ability to support my Canon t3i with a short lens. It moved a little in high winds, but overall did a great job. Its small size also made it easy to pack and store. I added a cold shoe and also used it as an indoor flash stand; perfect!
