Really Right Stuff Monopod Head with Indexing Lever-Release Clamp

MPN's:
Disappointing smoothness
I bought this head to use on a Gitzo GM2542 monopod. The head is well made with nice materials and an overall feeling of quality. The clamp is great with its (almost) unique rotating feature. The locking power is also truly impressive, no doubt about that. However, for the price and from the RRS reputation, I was expecting buttery smooth action. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I either have to completely unlock the head to be able to smoo... Show More

Beautifully Engineered. Heavy Duty and Heavy.
This head sits atop my Gitzo Safari monopod (which is unique in having the largest diameter section at the bottom, which keeps dirt/mud out of the internals). I really appreciate the engineering and high quality of metalwork that went into the manufacturing of this monopod head. Everything moves smoothly and lockups are secure. The ease of switching orientation of tilt with the small knob, permitting quick changes of my RRS camera L-frame to tele... Show More

Smooth as glass, super utility!
Excellent build quality and functionality. Of all the versions of this RRS head, having the one that has an easy way to twist the head 90 degrees really helps when going from the on-camera L-bracket to ring mounted lens. You could make that simple adjustment using an Allen wrench, but what a nuisance. My only complaint is that the cost difference between the two versions is substantially more than it needs to be. For those nervous about the lever... Show More

GREAT product
This is a great product but the small button you see in this photo, is supposed to turn or change orientation and I have yet to figure out how to use that but otherwise I find it to be well made, quality materials and very smooth. It is a little heavier than I expected, you need a heavy monopod to handle the weight of this head with a long lense and camera but the product is a good one and would recommend. I will figure out how to change the orie... Show More

Might Be Overkill, But.
This monopod head might be overkill for Nikon Mirrorless setup that I currently have but I wanted to buy a monopod and head that would not need replacement as my camera system expanded. Being able to change the orientation of the head was a must. RRS was a must. This was my choice and it is built like all the RRS equipment I have. I paired this with their Series 1 monopod (Purchased from RRS) for travel. Looking forward to years of use.

great for all lenses
I purchased this clamp for my Gitzo monopod. The pivoting head is a bonus. I am able to quickly change my setup from a large 600mm f/4 to any smaller lens. The clamp orientation for mounting to the camera body is opposite for a lens mount. The quick change makes this a great product. buy it

Excellent!
Very high quality and well thought out design. The clamping mechanism holds very well and the unit operates smoothly when tilting the lens up and down on a monopod. Love the large handle for tightening or loosening the tilt adjustment it will be easy to use in the cold with gloves on!

Love it
Very lightweight, easy to manage and perfectly sits on my monopod. Love the capacity it can take - increases the lens options that can be used.

A perfect attachment for a monopod
I put this on my large Gitzo monopod. I use it on my large 600mm prime lens. It allows me to quickly pivot the axis as needed.

Works Like A Charm
I'm very pleased with the RRS Monopod head. I use it with my Sigma 150-600 lens and it makes taking pictures much easier.
