Expensive, worth it?
One of these days, Nikon may start incorporating an Arca-Swiss compatible groove on the feet of their lenses. Till that time, I will be replacing them since I use this to attach to both my tripod as well as my strap. My recently purchased 500mm f/5.6 lens has a collar that cant be replaced and the foot is designed to be rapidly released so that one can use the lens without the foot. Unfortunately, this can result in an accidental release and drop... Show More

High security is paramount, with this gear!
Lets go backwards. I would never have bought the lens in the first place, if I hadnt made sure I could get this replacement foot, before I bought the lens. Screwing gear onto tripod heads is last centurys idea. Anyone still doing it should give it up immediately. ARCA compatible feet and clamps are FAR easier and FAR safer. Yes they cost - but deciding whether or not to spend a hundred bucks to secure a three thousand dollar lens is a no-brainer.... Show More

excellent replacement foot
I needed a foot with arca swiss dove tail. looked over all the after market foot available but decided on this. it has 3 advantages over stock foot. 1) it's longer then stock so it makes it easier to balance the lens on a tripod 2) arca swiss dove tail 3)QD system. also own the RRS plate for my Z6 so switching connection point from main body to the foot when I switch lenses or to get it on to a tripod and detach the strap, QD system makes... Perfect fit as expected!
As with every RRS item I have purchased, this foot is a perfect fit with my RRS ballhead. As an added bonus, it fits like a glove with all of my other tripods and monopods too! The quality is as expected for a $120 premium-priced foot, made of high quality aircraft aluminum and shaped with lovely distressed edges to keep it from scratching or injuring the photographer and their gear/bag. The tightening knob is spot-on with minimal turns required ... Show More

Worthy of your lens investment
I bought this lens and this replacement foot. Whenever you can replace the lens foot rather than add another base plate, please do so. In this case, the RRS LCF-11 replacement foot is a perfect replacement for Nikkor's 70-200mm f2.8E FL ED VR standard foot. I mount this lens on both the Gitzo 5543XLS and 3543XLS tripods. My 55 model has the Wimberley WH-200 gimbal head II. The 35 model has the RRS BH-55 ball head. I can switch between both tripo... Show More

The name says it all!
This RRS replacement foot is solid, adds a slightly lower profile, and is long enough to let it be used as a carry handle when desired. I dont understand why so many report the danger of accidentally releasing the lens-camera unit from the foot and possibly dropping it to the ground when carrying by the foot, unless of course one has the locking knob almost completely loosened, which should never be allowed to happen. This is a fantastic replacement foot, and Ill never understand why Nikon does not equip their big lenses with Arca compatible feet.

THE BEST
Much better using this on my Nikon D-850 than Nikon's version along with an Arca Swiss attachment. This version is not only longer but I have no trouble attaching to camera like I did with the Nikon version, i.e. I'd have to attach the foot after lens was mounted to camera so I could position correctly. With this version which includes the Arca Swiss mold at bottom, I can attach either prior or after lens is mounted to camera. RRS is top quality and I have several of their products.

Bigfoot!
As always with RRS this is a high quality piece that does its job. I was surprised by how long the foot is. It is much longer than the RRS foot I have on my 80-400 lens. I am using the new one on my 500mm f/5.6 (same foot for both the 70-200 and the 500) which is OK. It may seem a bit big for the 70-200. Makes adjusting position on the tripod a bit tricky since the foot sticks out from the tripod ball head (mid-sized RRS ballhead). Would get 5 stars if it were a bit shorter.

lever is too big
craftsmanship looks good. but the lever is too big. one of the previous reviewer said that his camera drop to the ground without no reason. I guess he did not tighten the screw, and accidentally pressed down the lever which released the foot off the ring. I like the low profile lever on the stock foot. obviously a defective design here. if you dont want to take the risk, get something else. NOT THIS ONE.

Not completely compatible to all collars
Would be nice if the locking mechanism engaged to the RRS LC-A12, ON THE RRS webbsite is states being compatable to several collars, now i have to drill a hole for the locking mechanism to engage, purchaced this longer foot so as to fit a flash bracket and still be able to fit to a side mounted gimble, RRS i would have thought would have already considered this issue, being a universal plate.

It's good but not as good as its competition.....
I bought this and the Kirk. Like all RRS items, this is well made. But I kept the Kirk (and cost was not the consideration). My criticism of the RRS it is that the latch lever extends too far out and I feel that I'm about to press it all the time. The Kirk is equally well made -- well, possibly it feels better -- and the latch lever is more recessed. To me, it was an easy choice.

Perfect Product
Another great product by RRS. Its a perfect upgrade for the foot of the 70-200mm lens. The Arca Swiss design made it all the difference and its much sturdier than the original. The foot also has a hole for the strap made by Magpul MS3 QD Sling which is a big plus if you want to upgrade your original camera Nikon strap. I highly recommend this product and I give it a 5 star.

Mttes perfectly with RRS BH
I tried the Kirk Enterprises foot and found the RRS foot was a slightly better fit with the RRS ball head quick release. Were talking just a few thousandths difference but the Kirk unit I tried required adjustment to avoid over stressing the clamp. With the RRS foot, the dimensions are spot on so no adjusting the clamp when switching from RRS L-bracket to the lens foot.

Right Product for the Job
Really Right Stuff has really excellent gear. All of their gear including this lens foot is well designed, solidly built and priced reasonably. I feel very confident when my 70-200 mm lens is mounted to this foot. It works seamlessly with my BH ball head making it very easy and quick to move from vertical to horizontal without worry. It is a rock solid foundation!

Really Right Stuff REALLY IS REALLY RIGHT STUFF!!
Replaced the existing foot (non-Nikon) on my 70mm-200mm f2.8. Instant change!! Rock solid, no vibration, no nothing - exactly what Im looking for to provide stability on this glass. Re-thinking about the higher costs of RRS vs. Benro (which I currently use) tripods. Hmmm.... need to win the lottery to do that upgrade though. Thanks B&H for having this product!!

Nikon should make their foot like this to begin with!
The RRS foot was super simple to swap on and works great. Nikon needs to male their foot ARCA compatible to begin with on these expensive lenses. It costs no more o machine a compatible foot than an incompatible one. The only thing I would change on this is the silver knob, Id just leave it black.

Real Deal
Many things in the universe puzzle me, but top of the list is why Nikon refuses to place an arca swiss foot on all lenses with a collar. This is for use on a 500mm 5.6 lens it corrects two issues with the Nikon foot it does not accidentally release and it has a arca Swiss track. Always well built

Expensive but has its value...
Well made and definitely an improvement. The one design item I didn't like is the locking spring mechanism. The original Nikon seems to be a better design and functions well. It's a nit, but for the money you expect all of it to be superior machining. The longer base is great. Works very well.

The new updated version is a nice improvement.
As always with RRS very high quality material and craftsmanship. This appears to be an updated version in that the foot seems to be longer than the previous version which allows the lens to rest on the foot without being attached to the camera. Not a big deal but nice.

LCF 10 replacement
Initially used the RRS LCF 10 replacement foot from my 70-200 VRII but physical changes in new lens made rotation difficult. This is slightly longer, balances well, fits perfectly, and accepts the QD attachment swivels. As with sll RRS gear, superb bu pricey.

excellent replacement foot
If you're going to spend enough to purchase this classic Nikon lens, then it's worth the extra cost to buy a foot that it far superior to the one than comes with the camera. Like all Really Right Stuff products, it is very well designed and sturdy.
