L Plate for D850
The plate fits perfectly on my D850. No wiggle when mounted. The battery is removable from the battery grip with plate mounted, and the doors can be opened for attaching cables if needed. Also, when not tripod mounted the L plate is great for an additional hand grip.

Great Bracket
I converted everything over to RRS Arca Swiss from Manfrotto and couldn't be happier with the construction and flexibility of the RRS bracket. I added the Magpul camera strap with QD that work perfecrly with the new RRS brackets.

The best in the business!
This beautifully-engineered L-Plate is an essential piece of equipment for those with a RRS BH-55 ballhead. Versatile - can be used for both horizontal and vertical shots - and quick to install and remove. I've used it a RRS L-Plate with a D7000, D7100, D810 and now a D850. I've used them all with battery grips and am using it with a Vello BG-N19-2 on my D850. Works perfectly on either aftermarket or Nikon grips.

Even better than the earlier one
For years I've been using the RR+S L-Plate for my D810 and found it great. It didn't occur to me that it could be much improved. Now I've upgraded to a D850 and got this L-Plate - and... WOW! It's substantially better! How? Well (a) it can be dismantled and used directly onto the D850 i.e. without the battery grip; and (b) the L-Plate side can be adjusted in-out. - so changing access tot he ports. I didn't know I needed these features - but I do!

continually loosens
This just isn't up to the standards of RRS. I have to continually tighten is as it loosens and makes bracket wobble. It doesn't have a tight fit. I love RRS but on this one I think isn't great for the money.

Turns your D850 into tank ))
The design is outstanding. Magnet holds the hex screw in place (no need to carry your L hex wrench in your pocket). Fits well, sturdy. I purchased the Magpul MS4 Gen 2 Multi-mission Single/Double Point Sling with Dual QD Swivel that attaches to the side / bottom part of the MB-D18. Recommend!

Expensive but great
RRS stuff is always great. Ive been using their gear for many years. The expandable bracket is great and I really love the way they incorporated the Allan wrenches into the base of the L-Plate.

Great L-bracket for Nikon D850 with battery grip but does not work with Spider holster system
3 Stars to bring attention to the fact that this L-bracket for the Nikon D850 battery grip does not work well with a Spider holster system if you use one. Otherwise a 5 star review. Returning it and trying a different bracket

FITS LIKE A GLOVE
Everything youd expect from RRS. Fits the MB-D18 Battery Grip (which I use w/my Nikon D850) perfectly. Also, it has the Allen Wrench that attaches to the L-Plate magnetically so its always there if you need it. This product is not cheap but it exudes quality as all RRS products.

Fits completely solid, nothing hangs. Very advanced model precisely designed for D18 battery grip at a standard price. Be careful when reading some reviews, claims verbatim "the D810 L-Plate is a better fit". This statement is completely false! Having one for MB-D12 grip and its not suitable at all.

The perfect solution
After reading adverse comments about this L-plate in some reviews on the net. I contacted both RRS and B&H for assurance. Both replied and confirmed no such issues existed. I purchased it with confidence. It is a perfect fit, fully adjustable when needed and exceeds all my expectations. Is it expensive? well, I find most things of quality are not cheap. If you pay out for quality cameras etc. do not skimp on accessories. I recommend this L-plate absolutely top notch!

Dee Plate Review
Pricey but well built. Fits ARCA and Manfrotto clamps with ease. One issue - the L plate has been recalled due to a manufacturing issue. A small screw mounting hole is misaligned with strap eyelet. Since I plan to use the strap eyelet to secure the L bracket it will be returned for a replacement. Regardless, the bracket is sturdy and strong.

For the price, I was expecting a perfect fit like the other L brackets for different Nikon bodies with grips. The modular design is great however the opening on the bracket for the screwdoes not align well to allow the screw to go through. The opening should be on the upper right side if the body is facing you, for a better visual please refer to the last picture in the product description. Not that happy...
I have been using the RRS L-Plate from my D810 on my D850, and that was OK, thinking that of course the new (and supposedly better) L-Plate for the D850 would be better when it finally arrived (6 months later). It isn't, and as a matter of fact, I will be returning the D850 L-Plate, because actually, the D810 L-Plate is a better fit. You may not be able to extend the plate, but I would never use that anyway.

Not as tight a fit
The RRS L-Bracket for the Nikon D850 w/D18 battery grip does not fit as tightly to the 850 body as L-Bracket for my D500 w/grip.
