While I have several Arca Swiss compatable rails in my parts collection, they have sharp corners that would make them uncomfortable to hold in this sort of application. These pieces are all smooth edges and rounded corners. You can tell they are there, but not enough to make it worthwhile removing them when not needed. I can recommend these without reservation, although I suspect the Kirk part, for the same price, would be just as satisfactory.

Perfect addition for the 645Z
I am so glad that RRS made these plates for the Pentax 645Z. For a long time now I have been wondering if the 645Z was purposefully shunned by all third party manufacturers but now RRS has proved me wrong. I bought 2 for each side of my 645Z and now I can change between landscape and portrait on my Arca-Swiss mount head as easy as I can using the RRS L-plates I have on my Canons.

Best choice for your big Pentax
I ordered a pair for my Pentax 645Z medium format digital camera a few months ago, one for the bottom and one for the side. I liked them so much I ordered a second pair for the 645N film camera. They fit flawlessly, the camera never slips, and the hex head screw is the perfect length. Finish is very nice, no rough spots or edges that snag. Highly recommended!

Performs As Expected
I recently purchased and used this plate with my Pentax 67. I paired the plate with my Really Right Stuff Ball Head. No problems in performance at all. Really Right Stuff tools are more expensive, however, provided one takes good care of these items, they will last a lifetime.

Smooth edges
In general, If you just order any old short SA compatible rail it'll work just find as something to secure the camera. However, if you prefer to leave the rail permanently attached, the smooth corners and edges on this piece makes holding camera more pleasant.

This will fit the original Pentax 645 also.
