Much better then my old Lacie burner. I have burned about 150 DVD-R s on it. No complaints yet...

Just received it today, fast set up, 2 Blu-ray 25GB included

Dec 6, 2016

The unit is rugged and impressive. OWC includes two free 25GB blank Blu-ray disks and a 2' USB 3 cable. The user can download free backup software and disk labeling software. The burner is an LG M-DISC Blu-ray unit, disc tray loading. I had already loaded free Bu-ray and started it with a new movie and it played fine. I bought it to archive my 20+ years of photos on M-DISCs; the ability to play movies and music is a big bonus. Of course, great B&H delivery.

Dec 6, 2016

I was looking for a solid DVD all around burner and this is it. Automatically installed in seconds and works perfectly. I video edit and burn a lot of DVDs, looking forward to this lasting a while.

Very fast, a bit loud on playback

Dec 6, 2016

I have a huge number of pictures stored on blu ray discs. They are large files as I keep the raw copies as well as jpg. This is a joy to use when looking at my old blu ray discs because it so fast. I needed a device that would be compatible with my iMAC and USB3. This has fit the bill nicely. It burns very quickly as well. It is a bit loud when displaying the images though. My biggest fear was that it would not play well with my MAC and that has not happened. I plugged it in to the iMAC and was burning discs immediately using TOAST.

Not Satusfied!

Did NOT come with the advertised software programs...did not come with ANY software. B&H support/sales suggested I contact the manufacturer, the manufacturer of course referred me to B&H. Guess B&H is joining the ranks of other online entities, so so service!

The Drive for a Mac Computer

Aug 21, 2016

I tried another brand of drive on my brand new iMac computer and it didn't fair so well. Might have just been a bad drive or whatever. Compared to the Mercury Pro though ... no contest. Do NOT hesitate to get this drive. This drive is AWESOME. Worth every penny.

Good Product, But Expect Obstacles

Jun 14, 2016

Easy to install. Mac OSX 10.11.5 (El Capitan) immediately acknowledged the drive. I am using Roxio's Toast IT Titanium 14. I burned data files to the Verbatim BD-R DL (50gb) with no problem. When I tried burning data files to the Verbatim BD-R XL (100gb), it kept giving me the following error at 34% of writing: The drive reported an error: Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR Sense Code = 0x0C WRITE ERROR I unsuccessfully burned 2 100gb Blu-Ray discs.
