The most useful add-on for any tripod, highly recommended

Oct 22, 2018

I am up to my second set of these indispensable spikes, having worn down the points over 10 years of hard use on my Manfrotto 190CX3. My only criticism, which also applies to Manfrotto tripod hardware too, is the poor quality nuts and bolts that are prone to corrosion: I replaced these years ago with marine-grade stainless steel allen bolts and friction-lock nuts. Good bang for the buck

Oct 3, 2011

I have had my manfrotto tripod for many years in difficult and varied situations where due to hard use and accidents I had gradually lost all of the feet and was reduced to using the rubber caps. The caps are almost worthless and then I finally ordered in the replacement retractable spiked feet. I had forgotten how good they were. I use mine mostly with the spikes fully retracted but there are occasions when I need the spikes and I like the versa... Show More

Bling For A Boring Tripod

Sep 11, 2012

My tripod slides on certain surfaces like ice or packed snow, now it can dig in. The 190 tripods are light to start with, so any stability device is welcome. They can be a little boring too, but these feet make them seem more impressive. Installation is easy, but I was a little concerned how tight I could go before something stripped. They look metal in the photos, but are actually a hard plastic. The rubber feet are a durable rubber. Overall I'm happy with them. A simple item to improve a simple tripod.

Excellantly designed tool

This spiked foot set allows me to replace the rubber tips that came with my Manfrotto tripod with spikes for shooting in the outdoors on slippery surfaces, while a twist later I can use the tripod indoors. The ability to remove the spiked tips quickly, allows me to re-install the rubber tips which are allowed on airlines while the spike feet travel in my checked-in luggage.

Just like the old days

May 19, 2013

Back in the day these were standard on many Manfrotto tripods. They provides better traction outside. I used my tripod on uneven granite boulders and it stayed in place. THe rubber ubber feet are at least good as the ones that came with the 190CXPRO3. The only draw back is they add noticablyt to the weight of the my carbon fiber tripod.

Manfrotto spike feet should be standard

Aug 18, 2016

Have these retractable spike feet on both aluminum and carbon fiber tripods because of the ability to quickly adapt to indoor or outdoor surfaces. Truthfully, these retractable spike feet should be standard with Manfrotto carbon fiber tripods, not an option. Lower cost tripods, I understand these feet being optional.

Correcting Poor Tripod Design.

May 18, 2011

The carbon fiber 190CX3 tripod should have come with spiked foot. Probably to keep the weight and cost down. Retractable spiked foot is very necessary for outdoor photography specially in rough terrain. A must for HDR photography. This attachment works great. Would have given 5 star if it was not so costly.

Manfrotto product quality

I order it for my tripod 190XB with 802RC4 head. The construction is strong and it fit perfectly to the legs of the tripod. I find it also easy to install. Efficient for outside and in house purpose. It was the piece missing to be entirely satisfied by my tripod. Now I am!

Great Accessory!

Jan 23, 2012

I bought the 190XB tripod legs for my heavy spotting scope. The tripod is super sturdy-I'm so excited to have these spiked feet for the legs. 90% of the time, I use the tripod outside in the mountains. The spiked feet make my tripod even more stable in the uneven terrain.

It is what it is

Feb 23, 2011

I shoot mostly Landscape Photos so I believe the spiked feet are just an accessory that Manfrotto forgot to include, proably because it would make the tripod weigh a slight bit more. How ever IMHO I think the added function far out weighs the weight increase.

Spiked Feet Add Capability

Jul 23, 2011

I put these spicked feet on a Manfrotto 190XB. They go on easily (getting the original rubber tipped feet off was the hardest part) and a T-handle Phillips driver for installation comes in the set. They are well made and look like they'll last a long time.

these are a great addition to my tripod

Jan 23, 2012

Too bad Manfrotto don't include these on their tripods. I feel they are a must if you take your tripod outside at all. They work great, old feet a little hard to get off (they are glued on.These attach ouite easily, they do make the tripod slightly longer.

Tripod Spiked / Rubber Foot Set

Fit and finish is very good. Easy to install. A bit afraid of overtightening )cand cracking fiber tube) or undertightening (and losing in mud). Considering drilling hole through and inserting small pin to prevent easy off.

Essential for outdood photography

I quite often photograph fungi in wet conditions and find the feet are great for preventing the tripod from slipping or sinking into soft, wet ground. The feet are really a must for all outdoor photography with a tripod.

I love theses spiked feet, very easy to install it only took a few minutes and they really make a difference if you do a lot of outdoor shooting. I just don't know why Manfrotto doesn't include them with there tripods.

I don't see how anyone using a tripod outdoors can get by without spiked feet on their tripod. The situations I photograph in require the traction these spiked feet provide.
