Bubble Level Plumbs Camera on Tripod
I found the use of the hot shoe bubble a must for bringing my DSLR to plumb on a tripod. The photographic image then levels with the horizon (visible or not), and becomes upright to the vertical. Obviously, a camera plumbed this way will minimize perspective distortion in an image with straight lines. Of course, even a plumb camera cannot compensate for inherent lens distortion of an image. In use, the bubble foot slides smoothly into the grooves... Show More

Good quality
I cannot emphasise enough, as a professional landscape nature photographer you really should try to get it right when you make the exposure. At least what you can control. In this case, no excuses for tilted horizons. Sure, straiten the file in software later but you run the risk of cropping your work! This 337 2 Double bubble is a good product. I just replaced another manufacturers leveler with this Manfrotto which gives me a nice sized bubble e... Show More

A Gamble - Outcome Uncertain
My rating is due to the cost of a good bubble level (which this is) and what I am intending to use it for. My plan is to attach the level to a slave flash shoe on a camera bracket. The bracket is attached to a monopod with multiple quick release plates (one for a digital still camera with panarama capabilities, another for a digital camcorder and a third for binoculars. My hope is to improve the quality of panning over a plain monopod. The slave ... Show More

Very useful, but easily lost
I found the bubble level to be very sensitive and accurate. However, it fits very loosely into the hot shoe of my Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera. It is much more snug in the original Canon EOS 5D and the Canon Digital Rebel XSi. It is an expensive item that is easily lost. I bought a second one after losing the first one. If your tripod LEGS have a built-in level, you can use this to make sure the tripod HEAD is level too. Then you can easily make seamless panoramas. But if your tripod HEAD already has a built-in level, you do not need this item.

does exactly what it is supposed to do
This little level works fine. I use it in conjuction with the level on my tripod and with the combination of the two, I can get very precise pan shots. My horzions are horizontal, what a concept? The only thing I would like them to change is to put some type of spring or something to hold it in the hot shoe. I fits kind of loose and has a tendency to fall out easy. A little tip, If you get one of these, use the zipper pouch that comes with your SanDisk memory cards, it makes a great case to store it in.

A must have!
I have been using a hot shoe double level since 1992. It is almost always used for landscapes and portraits. The only issue with a hot show level is that you have to remove the level prior to attaching a flash etc. A hot shoe level is with me all the time. It is small, light, and indispensible. A level is cheaper than a quality filter and saves time in photoshop. It is also a regularly lent item during sunrizes and sunsets to pros and amateurs alike.

If you want it level, you need a level
It seems that all of the Hot Shoe Bubble Levels are about the same cost - and that does seem a bit expensive. However, a quality 2-axis level is essential if you must have the camera level. This product seemed to be a good price, it is good quality, easy to view and install. One issue that I've not worked out is storing the little block when not in use, I will probably get a pouch for it that can be tied into my carrying case or backpack.

great for use with wide angle lens
This 2 axis bubble level is small, well made, and fits snugly in the hot shoe mount of my K5s. I often use it for shooting at waist level with wide/ultra-wide lenses to keep the horizon straight and up/down level or not-- chimping helps. These things save the back and knees while offering a different perspective. I doubt it would work well with normal to tele lens though. I also use it for low shooting from a kayak.

Good, but doesn't lock into place
The bubble level does the job it's intended to. It's easy to level your camera when it's bright enough out to see the bubble. However, if you tip your camera backwards, but bubble level will simply fall out. Unlike a flash which locks into place, the bubble level simply slides into place, and doesn't even fit snugly. I've almost lost mine several times, and it's only a matter of time before it's gone.

Best gadget in my bag
I take product photos for a magazine and getting them level is half the battle. This fits into the hotshoe of your camera and allows you to use it in about every angle possible. Where a bubble level on a tripod lets you know if it's level, you still don't know on your camera especially with all of the multi-faceted heads being used today. You can't go wrong with this level, it's fool proof

It's a bubble level
I expected more from Manfrotto. This works as advertised but it's plastic and I will probably lose or break it because it doesn't fit snugly onto the hot shoe. Very disappointed with this aspect of the device. Now I will have to tape it to the camera when in use so it doesn't slide off. However, it does do what it should and there are multiple green colored levels that are easy to read.

Love it!
How did I work without this? It is awesome. I use it whenever my camera is on my tripod for interior and architectural work. I only wish I did not have to change its direction for vertical shots. Can't they design one that works for both horizontal and vertical with one mounting direction? No matter, it is awesome. I'm just afraid I'll misplace it. It would be great if it had a case.

Great, highly recommend
Purchased to assist with architectural photography to minimize the need for rotating during editing. Works great, easy to use in both horizontal and vertical formats. The only drawback that I found is that it revealed some issues with my tripod head. My head is a ball head and a 3-way head would be better since you could adjust the camera in each plane independently of the others.

Pretty good!
Works great. There isn't too much to say. Fits in the hotshoe tightly. Mine has a hairline crack in the outside but I am not going to worry too much about it as it has already spread across the entire cube and is not deep. It is a bummer that you can get these very inexpensively and this one, which is on the higher-end of the price scale has a crack in it.

The Horizon Line Is Never In Question
The Hot Shoe Double Bubble Level by Manfrotto slips right into the cameras hot shoe. Couldn't be easier. When taking landscape shots it is easy to think the horizon line is straight until you get home and look at the picture. This level keeps your pictures balanced, no angled horizon lines or pictures off kilter. Great addition to your gear bag.

Straight horizons are no accident.
Using a bubble level is the only way to know you have the horizon correctly oriented. The flourescent green makes this level a snap to see, and it's a snap to mount. However, I was dissapointed in the decline in quality. This level replaced one that I lost (same model) - the new has a semi opaque end and has slight seam lines. And it cost more!

Does what it says
Use as a quick reference to level camera. I read some reviews about hot shoe mounted levels being loose so I was a little worried but when I put it on my Canon XSI it fit pretty snug. Unless you bump it on something it stays put, ofcourse I don't walk around with it on. I just drop it in my pocket or put it back in my camera bag.

Helps Make Panoramas Painfree & Perfect
I ordered this level prior to my recent trip to China, for one picture in mind. I was going to be in Hong Kong for one night and wanted to make a panorama of the nighttime skyline. This level worked as advertised and made stitching the shots together so much easier because the camera was perfectly level throughout the shoot.

indispensable for use with my PC lens
Although pricey for a bubble level (they all seem to be in this price range), I use it with my MF system (always on a tripod) to ensure correct orientation with my PC lens. The only problem I have with it is that I loose them when they get knocked out of the hot shoe on the way into or out of my camera case.

Good for Landscapes
This bubble level is well made, and makes combining images into panoramas much easier. The 2 axes are versatile for horizontal and vertical orientation. It is somewhat expensive for its intended purpose (hence the 4 stars), but I still consider it a good purchase. It is a well-made product.

Comes in handy
It comes in handy. Wish there was a way to secure it while on camera but it does stay on pretty well. Maybe there is a way to secure it to the camera that I just don't know about. I guess I could just put a piece of scotch tape on it. The yellow liquid is bright and easy to see.

You can get the same thing for 25%
Great product - love mine - except it does not lock and is easy to loose - which I did. I bought a $ Optica model to replace it and then found the Manfrotto - absolutely no difference in quality or performance - perhaps the same OEM. Why pay more?

Fine European-made Level
I needed a level for a large-format field camera, and the Manfrotto one was much better made than the Chinese-made levels that cost less. You get what you pay for: this is a quality level, the bubbles are large and clear, and it's easy to use.

Sounds silly, but pretty useful
I know it sounds crazy to get a level for your camera, but when shooting landscapes with a tripod, it's almost a necessity. It's saved me from having to shoot too wide to leave room for any rotation adjustments and the resulting cropping.
