Added to our Ball Head as a secondary mount at the heel of the pistol-grip, this adapter aids us greatly. Not only do we have the added versatility of dual locations to mount our camera on (which clearly expands the viability of the Ball Head itself) but it also allows for two separate components to be both mounted and stabilized towards a single focus point. This clearly expands it's usefulness and enables higher scores in other fields. Great item.

Add to the 322RC2 for a second release
I added this to my current 322RC2 so I could easily switch from Horizontal to vertical mounting of the head. Works great!

I am impressed with this adapter's quality and ease of use. I don't have to worry about my camera accidently slipping or taking a fall. This means i have more time to compose my shot... less time fiddling with gear.

Not Universally Compatible
I purchased this release plate to mount my digital audio recorder onto a cheese plate which is part of my camera rig. The cheese plate has standard 1/4-20 threaded holes. I thought this release plate would have the same standard size screws, but I was wrong. This release plate has some strange size screws probably unique to Manfrotto products. I couldn't mount this release plate to my cheese plate so I returned it. I'm sure it's a great release plate for a unique purpose (specific to Manfrotto gear) but it's not universally compatible with other gear.
