Sturdier than I imagined

Jul 11, 2017

Bought this for an unintended purpose - to give me an extra 6 for filming live concerts above the heads of the crowd. I placed it between my tripod legs and the head and it works surprisingly well. I wouldn't recommend extending it to the full 10 for this sake as it will become unstable. My only complaint is I wish there some sort of channels on the twist lock so I could use a wrench to tighten/loosen, since it can be very hard to adjust

Flawed but serviceable extender

Apr 3, 2017

If you can live with a fixed five inch extension that does NOT telescope longer in practise, this one is built to do a first class job. It extends a few inches when new but soon binds up and will no longer adjust because the adjustment collar and shaft are both aluminum, which binds beyond repair. The adjustment collar should be brass, as Manfrotto knows full-well. Shoddy design, but OK at five inches only.

small but powerful

Designed to extend height of table top tripods but works just as well in extending height of any tripods with 3/8 screw attachment. Don't exceed load capacity to keep things stable.

It does a little more than I thought.

Nov 28, 2013

I bought this to use for the Manfrotto 209 (3007)table top tripod and Manfrotto 128LP micro fluid head while shooting video with a Canon HF-G20 camera. The extension had been fully extended so at first glance (and installation) I thought it was a little too tall and had wished for a cut down version until I realized it will collapse down to 5. At its shortened length, the tripod is much more stable than when the extension is fully open. Even at 1... Show More

Just fit in the right place

I do have a table top 209 series, and with this rod, it complete the tripod. Makes it more usable. It supports my DSLR and 50mm lens pretty well.

Works as advertised

It does what one would expect it to. I bought this to use as an accessory for allowing an Apollo softbox to tilt - it works well for that too.

Ok but not perfect

Feb 26, 2011

I have had this for 1 year. Use it together with the Manfrotto 209 tabletop tripod. Easy to pack and use. It is OK but the screw for regulating the height of the two sections is difficult to tighten for sturdy use. As a result of this I have tightened it so hard that I can't loosen it. If used with a small DSLR, the column is flimsy in the connection.

Great addition to the Tabletop Tripod.

The 259B Extention Column for the 209 tabletop tripod and the 492 Micro Ball Head really gives you a very usefully height advantage and is a great addition to get that perfect shot.

Useful Tripod Accessory

Jan 24, 2011

I purchased this for use with the Manfrotto Tabletop Tripod and 492 Micro Ball Head. It's stable and adds up to 10 of height, which can be quite useful. For greatest stability, don't extend it fully.

Very Well built

May 27, 2009

I bough two of these to go with the 209 Tabletop Tripod. Well worth the money. I stack them end to end and can get a total solid height of 18 The description states 10 but at full extension it can wobble so it's best to only extend it to around 9 It's a bit heavy being all metal but IMHO well worth the weigth. It hard to find well built products anymore.
