Well built and simple for the Money

Jun 22, 2008

I really like the ease of use and it's ability to be position in any way I want it. The quick release is the best part of the head with it's ease of operation. The bubble level is a great resource to get the tripod leveled and visually easy to view. i would definitely recommend this tripod head to any one who is on a budget and wants to upgrade there tripod.

Could'nt Be Easier

Mar 26, 2012

I have Parkinsons so Photogaphy is not easy for me. BUT with the 460MG magnesium head it puts the fun back in to photography for me. There are just 3 nobs to work, they are small but very effective & w/no ball head I do not need to worry about trying to change one setting & having something else change on me. I would recomend this item to anyone.

Great Head for use when travelling.

Jun 4, 2011

I bought this to use when I travel. It offers all the flexibility of my Manfrotto 804RC2 Head but at a much reduced weight. Yes it can be somewhat fiddly to get exactly level but as I do mostly landscapes that is not an issue. Its weight and flexibility at a good price from B&H make it an ideal travelling companion.

Lightweight

Aug 5, 2008

Im using it with a Nikon D-80 with either a 105-macro lens or a 70-300 zoom and find it to be rock steady. It's lightweight and has a very smooth feel for tightening each of the adjustments. You can tell there has been quite a bit of forethought put into the design of the RC2 quick release system.

Great Head

Dec 4, 2008

I prefer this type of head because of greater range of position and no long handles in the way when framing shots. I use this with a Bogen 055MF3 tripod mostly in the outdoors for nature/closeup photography and it does everything I need it to do. Light weight and rugged and easy to adjust.

Great Head!

Aug 27, 2008

Very solid, well built head. I really like the small rubber knobs. You don't have to turn them very hard to get the tight. Adjustments can be made without alot of effort. The knobs don't get in the way like my old tripod. I also love the quick release connection. Very solid connection.

Fullfeed my needs

Jun 17, 2013

I do mostly photos but I began to make some movies. Using a standard ball head for this purpose gave me poor results. I need a head where I can move the camera on one axe only. This head permits this. I do not want standard handles and want to save space. This head provide this.

Unusual, but outstanding design

Aug 14, 2010

In essence the design offers everything a ball head does, but with a better level of control. One of the best heads I've owned. Very lightweight so perfect with a good quality carbon fibre tripod (i.e. Manfrotto 190CX3). An ideal combination for air travel and hiking

Really smooth and very high quality

Nov 19, 2009

Very professionally made - good quality feel in how you use it. If you semi-tighten the rubberised knobs you can even use it as a type of 'smooth' head for video use with high-end SLRs that have video recording capability - none of the jerking of many other models.

Worth the bucks

Nov 28, 2011

I finally have a tripod head that does what I want it to. My previous (cheap) heads were incredibly frustrating and difficult to use. I haven't had the opportunity to use it all that much but love it, love the sturdy feel.

Puts the camera where you need it

Apr 14, 2010

Probably the most flexible head I've ever owned. It's compact, lightweight, and very intuitive to work with. In combination with the Manfrotto 055XPROB, I can precisely position the camera just about anywhere.

Great Value in a lightweight head

Nov 3, 2010

The combination of quick release, light weight and relatively low cost make this a great value. It is sturdy enough for my camera and a 100-300 zoom with a 1.4 TC. It is also very compact and easy to adjust.

Sturdy and compact

Feb 24, 2016

This is a really nice head. It's compact and slides right into my tripod bag. Also, this is very sturdy and well built. I love the shipping here, I received this in a couple of days. Very nice head to have.

A very easy to use head

Nov 1, 2010

Very simple to use. Very stable. It was a little sticky at first but after a few uses it became very smooth to adjust in any plane. For the price it is an exellant platform for 35mm or Medium Format.

Ultimate flexibility

Jan 26, 2015

I like extreme low-angle shots when appropriate and am getting too old to crawl around getting the fram -- this head on a monopod and the camera can be inverted completely to shoot at ground level.

Great head for a monopod

Jan 9, 2016

Using 460mMG on 479 tripod instead of more usual 234RC head. Gives much more flexibility with adjustments in 3 axes instead just front to back tilt, at a cost of only about 200 more grams.

Great head

Dec 3, 2008

I needed a new head. But hate ball heads, and pan.tilt heads with the long handles. So when I found this head I bought it right away. Very easy to operate and very solid/sturdy.

I am loving this. It is so easy to use and adjust. I was looking for one with knobs instead of long handles and this 3way has been the perfect fit. Adjusts easy and holds tight.

Just what we expected

Aug 27, 2010

Having used this head only a handful of times, it seems to be pretty much exactly what I expected it to be when I purchased it. Excellent flexibility and extremely light-weight.

light but finicky

A lightweight head for travelling but I miss the speed of the (heavier) pistol grip head. Tightening all three knobs can be frustrating if speed is of any importance.

I use the head for amateur macro photography, and it allows a high degree of precision. The build quality is excellent, and the rubber knobs are easy to adjust.

One of my pet peaves has been tripod heads with adjustment handles sticking out. The 460MG is compact, easy to adjust, and knobs that are out of the way.
