Hook is okay but description isn't
The description says it fits series 1 & 2. No, not necessarily. I have theGitzo GIGT1545T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod and so I bought this hook. The threaded portion is FAR TOO SMALL to screw into the tripod. I've started the return process and hopefully all I'll lose are the shipping charges I paid and the time I lost.

fits G1027 Series 0 tripod
This replacement hook is an improvement over the original non retractable hook that I lost on my Gitzo G1027 tripod. Be sure to securely tighten it to the center column. I carry a couple of ... type plastic bags to fill with rocks as needed.

Not that much better than a 3/8 bolt
Replacement for the hook assembly that came with my Gitzo tripod and fell out. Replaced it with a 1 3/8 stainless bolt and a thick rubber washer when I noticed the original hook was missing. The bolt solution was much less expensive, better built to protect the carbon tripod legs and much less likely fall out like this piece of * To be fair I bought this because my solution was not as functional for weighting down the tripod as this hook.

Doesn't fit perfectly
This is a well made hook and work as it should, except it leaves a gap when fully tightened on my G1126 tripod column. A proper size nylon washer fixes it but Gitzo should be more careful on the spec.

Hooked on you
The Gitzo hook is great for attaching weight to you tripod on windy days to keep it stable. The very innovative design allows the hook to disappear when not in use so it won't catch on things during transport of the tripod. Very well made. Will last a liketime like all Gitzo products.
