Works well, but handle twists "wrong" direction.
This leveling base does exactly what it's designed to do - level the base. My only complaint is that the handle does not follow "lefty - loosy, righty - tighty". When the tripod is sitting on the ground and you are looking down at the tripod, twisting the handle clockwise loosens the clamp and counter-clockwise tightens it. This is the opposite of the standard motion for right-handed screws and it is counter-intuitive. Using a left handed screw for the clamp would remedy this. Other than that and the lack of a way to hang a weight from the handle are my only complaint.

Could use improvement
The leveling base does what it is supposed to but there are two design shortcoming that would use improvement. First is that there is no way to attach a hook to the bottom of the handle to weight the tripod. This is an obvious shortcoming when shooting in windy conditions. The hook would also act to speed up the level process as a significant amount of mass would cause the base to self level. The other shortcoming is the fact that this raises the ball head enough to make it so you can't fold the legs back over the head of the tripod.

Excellent!
Build quality seems to be excellent and the price compared to other leveling bases just amplifies that Feisol creates true values. They charge modest prices for everything they make. They do not charge low prices for their tripods and then get you on the accessories. I have recently purchased this base so I cannot report on its long-term use, but it seems to be built like a tank. One improvement I could suggest would be adding a weight hook to th... Show More

Works Well with CT-3442
I wouldn't have gotten the leveling base for my photography purposes since I already have a ball head with the built-in bubble level. This product made a sense, though, to go with my video fluid head. It works very well as advertised. Instead of messing with the legs to make any level adjustments by bending down, I can now do all the adjustments standing up. However, it was heavier than I expected. That's my fault, though, as I didn't really pay ... Show More
