Broke in 1 month, can't get warranty service

Jul 14, 2015

I bought this tripod/monopod because it seemed substantial and well-built, and I liked the quick-release system to mount the camera. I took it on a trip to Alaska about a month later and was really disappointed when one of the legs would no longer lock. I have tried twice to contact Sunpak for warranty service, but all I get is a recording asking me to leave a message - so far nobody has returned my call. Bummer product, not worth the price, warranty is a joke. Sorry I bought it.

Great Value for the Money!

Jun 29, 2015

This was my first tripod purchase after buying my new Nikon DSLR. I decided on this one after reading a photography blog, where the author said that it was a great entry level tripod that only cost about $$. I was sold on it at that price, and then came to B&H and saw that it was actually on sale for closer to $$. You can't beat that! It's well-designed and relatively sturdy. No problems at all with it so far!

Ultra 7000 Tri-Monopod by Sunpak

Jun 7, 2015

The Ultra 7000 Tri-Monopod by Sunpak handle was too stiff to move. The replacement was also stiff but not as bad as the first one. There was no hassle with B&H. Customer service was exemplary as it was very easy to speak with them. I would recommend my friends to buy from B&H.

pretty good value, lots of functionality in swiveling head forward (but not back), and side to side, and all mechanisms for extending and locking legs are efficient. however, while clamping the legs back to reduced length, i found that a small plastic piece fell out of the clamp joint. without this small piece of plastic, the clamp would not be tight enough to hold much weight. i popped it back in, but would be worried if i might lost it

Worthy... for my needs

Jun 2, 2015

I needed a tripod to hold my small SD Video Camera. I needed a floating head to pan and tilt for action shots. A little snug at first but it can be loosened. The extended height of the tripod matched up at eye level for me without the center post extension raised. It will go taller. The unipod will come in handy when I shoot stills on the sidelines of my kids games. I like the padding, handles and extra features included. It's my new baby, we're going to be together for a long time.

Great tripod !

Well made, lightweight, sturdy and easy to use. This replaced a 30 yr old Bogen 3046 that now sits in my home for any projects I work on.

Disappointed

May 5, 2015

I bought this for use with a video camera. It's a lot more light-weight than I thought it would be ... and it looks like any 'panning' with it will be wobbly.

Nice portable Tripod

Apr 12, 2015

I like this tripod while not tiny it is very portable and not a huge tripod that I would dread lugging around. This is my first tripod that I bought for my first DSLR. I'm using it with my D810. I haven't tested it extensively but it seems it will work fine for my purposes.

Minimal Use and Failed

Aug 21, 2014

I don't use a tripod in my daily work and only use it on occasion for my landscape and night photography. Just walking to one of my locations tonight the handle (twisty one) fell off not allowing me to tighten the head down. Basically the tripod is useless now... However, it was an incredibly sturdy tripod when it did work. I just wish it lasted a little longer than a month and a half.

It's so cold in the D

Mar 12, 2014

Based on price and availability, I bought this entry-level tripod for my light DSLR. After a year of abuse, shooting on the streets of Detroit, the plastic head clamp finally failed. At -20F, there plastic became brittle and cracked like ice. A full year of daily abuse...falling, dropping, throwing, and constant adjustment, and it took an uncommonly cold winter night to best this beast of a tripod. I'll be buying another. I've never had a tripod withstand so much at even close to this price.

Solid Tripod-Provided Your Gear is Lite

Jun 25, 2013

I have Fuji XE-1 so this tripod works perfect for me. I can see if you have a heavy DSLR; there might be some issue. It also works great on Video Camera, if you have a light consumer one. With the price, who can beat it?

Love it! Very solid construction for what I am doing - filming a documentary with a Panasonic GH3.

Wow.

Feb 18, 2013

I was impressed as to how lightweight it is, but it supports my heavy digital cam with the wide angle lens. Love the levels (I got the 7001, but can't find here!). Excellent item, love the handle!

New Features for the price

Feb 5, 2013

I needed something rugged, not too big or heavy, and with some features. And - I needed it in a hurry... I read the reviews here and made my purchase based solely on other reviews.I had a damage issue when I received it intially ; the handle was cracked. B&H promptly made a switch for me and I got an undamaged one in-time for a photo shoot in the desert. While this wasn't the lightest tri-pod it was fine for the price. I used an old carry case since this didn't come with one. I found it to be sturdy, however, I noticed that over tightening would easily strip the plastic threads so be careful!

Not very durable...

Jan 15, 2013

I ordered the Sunpak Ultra 7000 based on the very few, but good, reviews. When I opened the box and the plastic wrapping around the tripod a small piece of plastic fell out. That piece was part of the handle assembly which had broken off making the handle useless (picture attached). The box it came in was in perfect shape which leads me to believe it broke during manufacturing or packaging at some point.I'm giving it 3 stars since I never really g... Good value for money tripod-monopod

Jan 1, 2013

The tripod stability (as reported by other reviews) and the combination of tripod and monopod functionality was the main reason for choosing this equipment. I am using it for a spotting scope and it does a good job, it is solid, stability is good and I can comfortably pan / tilt. A bit on the heavy side, but that was understood from the spec. Overall quite happy with the purchase.

Love the monopod option

Jul 27, 2012

I am an amateur photographer and had another tripod before this. I like that this tripod feels very solid and seems well constructed. My favorite feature is the monopod option. I tend to take a lot of animal and insect pictures so I need something that will help reduce shake but also easy to move and the monopod allows me to do just that. Great product for the price.
