Nice quality, but lacking in low end isolation

I used to play the acoustic drums so I know the value of a great isolating pair of headphones. These certainly do isolate very well for the most part, but sadly they're lacking in low end isolation, which is a real disappointment. I think if I was using these in a practice or live scenario with a loud bass amp I would have to use earplugs as well to dampen down those lower frequencies. As far as taking these out day to day to listen to music, the... Show Morey certainly do a good job on that front. Being 80 ohms, they're just about loud enough to listen to music on my phone at full volume and block out all the sounds, except again the bass frequencies. I was on a turboprop flight behind a 2-year-old and while it mercifully blocked out any trace of toddler sound, there was no protection against the drone of the propellers, and no option to add earplugs because of the lack of volume. As far as the sound goes, these have a nice balance. Being closed back, they're always going to put pressure on your eardrums, but that's the price you have to pay for the isolation. But again there is a lack of the low end frequencies, which does exacerbate that lack of bass isolation. These are great quality headphones that feel really well put together, and they're very comfortable to wear for hours at a time. It's just a shame that they don't give that full-spectrum isolation I was looking for.Show Less

Great headphones for a drummer!

I have had these for over two years now, and I'm very pleased with them. They sound good and balanced, and I don't need to worry about damaging my hearing when I play drums with them. Sometimes I only have a metronome on, sometimes I play with a demo track, and sometimes it's just fun to play along with my favorite albums. I have tried many different headphones, and these have been hands down the best ones for recording drums. There's no need for additional earplugs and the Beyerdynamics feel comfortable even in long sessions. The only negative thing about these headphones is the fact that the low frequencies feel sometimes a bit too "boomy" for my taste. But it's a very small issue, and it's a matter of taste anyway. Nice headphones for drum recording

These are THE headphones for drum recording. I use rather loud click tracks and I always used to have problems with click bleeding into the mics. With these headphones I get 98% less bleed which is the best result I've had with any headphones. So these are really great for monitoring when tracking down drums. They also feel ok although I would prefer a little bigger cushions. The sound isn't as great as in my DT250's so I won't be using these ... Show Morefor mixing or listening to music. I would say they sound decent, but not good. But hey, they weren't designed for producers and when tracking drums they sound just fine. Had to buy 2nd ones!

For the money it's the best noise-cancelling phones you can get IMO. The sound quality is excellent and for my taste it's a major and serious tool for studio and training work with band. You can play drums depending on the touch you're playing and still not become deaf. You can hear your playing and there is more bass freq than usually (compared to Shure iems) but it cancels most of the high and mid freqs. Must buy item for a singer who... Show More wants a noise-cancellation when recording. Does not give you any freq too much and sound is averal neutral for vox recording. Only minus is the quality for a HEAVY USER! My volume switch has taken some damage and I have changed the pads couple times. Despite that. It a 9+ headphones that I can recommend.Show Less

Very disappointing

It's promised that these headphones will isolate very well. The fact is that they isolate poorly. It's difficult to state hands on that these are specific noise isolating headphones, because they isolate just like any other cheap closed headphone. The sound is flat. No low end, and poor top end. Just a lot of mid frequencies like the sound you get from cheap and very poor headphones. The construction are fairly robust, so if your kids need so... Show Moreme headphones that can take a beating, these may just be the ones. If price is an issue, then wait and save your money so you later can buy headphones with better qualities than these. Excellent

Everything is excellent. I'm using the headphones on my MacBook and my android smartphone, it sounds powerful and highly pleasing. Only con to me is fragility of the product. This headphones are like a tank, highly durable. Strong parts, materials and design, no doubt... But the cables on sides of head look like breakable when you sleep with this. Best isolation for studio monitoring

I was in the need of having headphones for recording acoustic instruments, vocals and having a minor noise feedback from clicktrack or underlying tracks, or to set the microphones properly in front of a guitar cab while listening to the DAW output. with these headphones you can really be isolated from outside direct sound a lot, and the feedback from them is really minimized. also, they are comfortable, so much i can easily think of using them daily for outside ambient listening on mp3 player or any audio device. frequency range is well calibrated and basses don't grow too much.

Quality meets heavy-duty

Very reliable headphones and not just in the quality in sound, but also in the way that these are made. Perfect for monitoring in the rehearsal-room and, the headphones are also good for mixing. These are very neutral in the sound, and it seems like these don't color the sound in the way that you would expect, but in a good way. 4 stars all in all, in the scoop of headphones to be used in rehearsal rooms and mixing, these are definitely one of the best in the price range around 150 ?.

Perfect studio headphones for drummers in particular!

I use these headphones in the studio and also during rehearsal sessions both to hear the click and the sequencer tracks but also to isolate myself a little bit from high volumes, they are simply perfect in all these tasks!!! The only little problem is the volume slider on the cable which sometimes, when touched, make disappear the signal on one of the two speakers, otherwise it could be an excellent product.

I've gone deaf!!

Got these to block out noisy PA's when doing a video shoot etc. Pros - really quiet and effective when wearing these. - also useful so that the headphones don't leak sound into the studio condenser mic when doing a vocal. Cons, A bit heavy compared to lower spec cans but very comfortable

Luxurious and slick

Studio quality headphones, great for recording or everyday use. The padding around the cans is a really nice touch, they don't squeeze the head even after hours of use. I wear glasses when I play sometimes too and never had a problem with discomfort or awkward positioning.

The noise-cancelling is ok, but could be a little bit better from drum usage. The fabrik gives away black color, so needed to put socks over the phones to avoid black rings around the eares... not very pretty =) so thus quality only 2 l

Great headphones for a drummer

Very comfortable headphones, could cancel a couple more decibels of environmental noice in my opinion, but okay this way too. Good quality of sound. Suitable for studio work, practice or even live playing. Own volume knob is useful also.
