I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my Sony FS5. I do a ton of interviews, and I am particularly excited about the full frame, dual native base sensor on the FX9. Extraordinary CameraFor Real.
This camera has a very impressive auto-focus systemthe strongest I've seen on the market right now. The S-Cinetone is gorgeousnot sure I need to leave that profile when filming, but the folks at Sony do give you the option for more color and picture control with Cine EI. A Serious Tool for HDR Production
The ability of the FX9 to see into shadows is amazing. I am producing HDR content, so Color Gamut and dynamic range are critical. It's low light capabilities are excellent. The ability to instantly switch between ISO 800 and ISO 4000 is one of the FX9's main selling points. My only issue is that it needs a new firmware update. As of now, it is not possible to shoot DCI (4096x2160). Also, HLG and REC.2020 is essential in custom and Cine Ei modes - hopefully these will be implemented in a (hopefully soon) firmware update. Wait was worth it!
I pre-ordered this camera when Sony first announced it. I waited 4 long months and it was worth it. B&H kept me updated to delivery status on a regular schedule. Great camera. Looking to upgrade to a top line 4/6K camera - this is it.
