FEISOL CB-70D Ballhead with QP-144750 Release Plate

Excellent Ball Head
I bought this head to accompany the Feisol tournament tripod. It makes for a perfect pair. The head is totally solid and smooth. Another great Feisol gear acquisition.

Works
Same plate that comes with most Feisol ball heads. It is nice to have a second one as they do not come off the camera/lens very easily. You will need a screw driver if you want it to be all the way screwed into the camera/lens. Easy to swap off the ball head

Great travel tripod
I bought the tripod and head from Feisol directly and wanted a 2nd release plate for the 2nd camera I take traveling. The tripod is light and has a very handy and sturdy extension, so it extends higher than most tripods of this type. This extra height was a big factor in my purchase, since I often photograph mural painting.

Same as the one that came with the tripod.
Feisol tripods has a different way of securing the plate to the tripod. Generic plates do not have this feature. There are grooves on the bottom rails of the plate which help secure the plate to a small rod which protrudes from the tripod base.

Great head for the money!
I have been using this head now for 4 years and just saw the reviews when browsing the B&H shop. To all you guys having issues: please read the manual (I think Feisol has this also on their website). This will explain how to proper use of the friction function. I have had zero problems with this head, not even with heavy equipment like my 400 2.8 lens.

Great ballhead
The CB-50DC is the smoothest ballhead I've ever used. The quick release that came with the ballhead is a little ackward so I will be looking for a replacement.

Decent ball head with some quirks
Beautiful tripod. Perfect pair with the Feisol 3472. The size just sits right. I looked for a ball head that's strong, easy to use, and look good. I'll summarize by listing the pros and cons. Pros: 1. Solid head that holds without drooping. 2. Panning action is very smooth. 3. Knobs well positioned and compact enough to not waste room. 4. Very handsome carbon fiber design. 5. Rubberized contact area on the knobs is easy to use in cold weather. I'... Show More

Get 2 if you have a feisol tripod
Ideal backup for your standard quick release plate for your tripod. It's small and easy to carry; and absolutely imperative to keep a backup if you lose the deaflaut one!

Great Head!
Pros: Smooth, easy to use, top quality kit. Cons: The lock button on the arca-swiss style plate is an annoyance. Perhaps a bit too bulky for my mirrorless setup, but that's nothing against the product itself.

Probably not worth it
So this is an awesome ball head. The controls and knobs are smooth and easy. It's got adjustable tension on it, and it's a really sweet bit of kit. Totally rock solid. However After the first week of use the 'plate holder' came loose from the actual ball part of the head. And by came loose, I mean, it spins independently of the ball. This is particularly problematic when you want to put the camera on its side and the weight of the lens makes the ... Show More

Replaces Manfrotto
I have replaced my Manfrotto ballhead with this Feisol. It is an axcelllent ballhead, much easier to use than the Mamfrotto. It is stable but relatively light. Very pleased with the ballhead.

Perfect
I needed a ball head for my seminar in the badlands but it had to be able to handle a Nikon 80-400 lens. It was perfect. It was easy to use, and handled the large lens just fine.

Not truly Arca-Swiss Compatible
I had bought this head with the intention of it being my lightweight travel head to use with my Rollei 6008 and Toyo VX125 setups. One of the things that drew me to it was the weight, holding strength, and Arca-Swiss compatibility. However, upon receiving the head I found the clamp doesn't open wide enough to accommodate the VX125's base, which is an integrated Arca-Swiss compatible base. Needless to say, I am not too happy with that my camera's ... Show More

The 1st time it worked like a charm.... had no issues.... today when i used this product with my tripod the ball head with not stay secured and locked in place.... mind you this product is supposed to be able to to handle 41 lbs of weight... i have my nikon d7100, an extra battery pack, 28-300mm nikon lens ( or even my 85mm prime lens) with a nikon sb-8... Great quality item
Solid metal construction and feel, really easy to install and remove. Nice rubber padding that prevents twisting for extra grip and stability.

Perfect - Just what I needed!
I was given a FEISOL Classic Tripod CT-3401 Rapid by a friend and needed to get a ball head for it. After researching a number of different brands and styles, I chose the Feisol CD-50DC. I wanted a carbon fiber one as I can't carry anything heavy due to health issues. However, I also wanted one that would hold up and be able to handle the weight of my equipment. I have a Nikon D300 with grip and the heaviest lens I own at present is the 70-300VR.... Show More

Built to Last
I use this plate on a Nikon D7100 with a Feisol tripod and Photo Clam Pro Series bullhead. I discovered the hard way that not have the right connection plate, etc. supporting your gear can become disastrous very quickly.

Quality Ballhead by Feisol
Smooth and well engineered. Other Arca style plates work with it. Light weight is a plus. Locks down tight. Good fit for Canon body and 70-200 zoom.

Very secure and solid
I use it with my 5d3/6d and 70-200 2.8 IS II, it does not slip at all. The arca swiss style release plate is very secure with safety lock.

Good Grip
I got this as a replacement to fit on my induro ball head. I really like how the entire surface is covered in rubber and not just a couple of strips. It gives it a bit better grip.

Great Price, Great Product
I have waited way too long to purchase an new ballhead with a quick release plate. The Feisol CB-50DC works perfectly with my Canon 5D Mark II. The controls and tension knobs are first rate, and I love this ballhead. I am using it on my Vanguard Actus tripod, and it is a great match. I would definitely recommend Feisol products.

Top notch product.
I normally don't write reviews, but I was a little surprised nobody has written one on this ball head yet. I was a little reluctant to try the Feisol brand, especially when everyone is always raving about gitzo and arca-swiss. I can safely say this is a comparable high quality brand, and the support from the manufacturer is great as well. So the first thing you'll notice is this ball head is tricked out in carbon fiber, obviously. The weight savi... Show More
