This high quality enclosure was exactly what I needed for the hard drive from my Apple Macbook Pro. The hard drive was easy to install inside the enclosure and it now was works great as an external drive. I also want to thank B&H support for pointing me to the correct enclosure model that I needed.

The only choice
This enclosure is expensive and of limited use: it can only be used with certain recent (last 5 years or so) Mac SSDs. But it *does* allow you to continue to use one of your outgrown Mac SSDs if you upgrade the internal drive. You can boot from this drive, so it is easy to install a new drive in the computer and then clone the old drive onto it. (I used Carbon Copy.) Works fine but not USB c
Bought a new Mac because old one failed. Transferred data from old drive to new Mac using this case. Pity the new Mac has no USB 3 ports, so had to buy an adapter to connect this external case...

Great if it works with your SSD
Since I sold my 2014 Macbook Air, I wanted to keep the 512 GB SSD I bought from iFixit and replace the original 128 GB the computer had. Although it says it only works with Apple SSD's I didn't expect to have problems reading the 128 GB to erase it and reinstall the OS, but I was afraid it wasn't going to work with the iFixit SSD.
