Rock Solid In The Colorado Rockies

May 29, 2017

Unlike Anywhere USA, up here in the SanJuan Mountains- which are higher than high- staying upright on anything but level with the wind being anything other than gentle or consistent can be a considerable back country challenge. A well weighted tripod hammock sure helps us out way out yonder. Thanks again, B&H!

Best $11 bucks ever!

Apr 23, 2017

I was just checking out with my cart full of items and a message popped up saying that if I spent $8 more dollars I would receive free shipping for my orders. On a whim I searched quickly for a cheap item to just get me the free shipping. This is probably the most talked about piece of my gear on set now. Everyone always asks where I got it. It's perfect for throwing in a H4N recorder with wireless transmitters for easy reach. I highly recommend this smart little beaut. Also great for car keys:)

More stable than hanging your camera bag.

Mar 26, 2017

Works as advertised: no issues. Great place to put your bits and pieces as you work a scene plus adds stability to the tripod as expected.

Great addition to any set of sticks.

Cheap but effective. Great addition to any set of sticks. I use mine to help hold materials, phone, lens, etc during a shoot. Great bag area to hold 'stuff'.

Great buy!

Well made, seems very solid compared to many fabric items sold nowadays... Should stand up well when weighted with stones, brick, etc. Good addition to my Oben 3535

Now I have a place to park headphones, spare batteries, mints, etc.. Acts like a spreader too. For the pricepoint it's a great product. Highly recommend.

Stabilizing a tripod.

Helps to stabilize the tripod when winds kick up. Found some BBs (slingshot ammo) to use for weight. Much better than sand. Seems to attach firmly onto tripod.

Good place for a flashlight.

Jul 21, 2016

This hammock was easy to install on my tripod. I used it this week on a night moon shoot. It was a great place to keep my flashlight handy where I could find it easily and not trip over it.

Perfect for balance

This item is perfect to store camera accessories and/or put weight to make the tripod more stable.

Love it.

Velcro's on easily and stays out of the way. I leave it on when I put my tripod in the carrying case and it does not get in the way. It's a nice accessory.

Great as weight and organizer

Jun 12, 2016

I bought this hammock to use with my Dolica tripod, on which I mounted an easel box for outdoor painting. I put a couple of small sandbags, a large water bottle, and paper towels in the hammock. I have been on location with this setup when the winds were gusting to 20-30 MPH, and it provided excellent stability. The Velcro straps adjust to differ positions on the tripod legs, so I can set up with a lower or higher perspective. The hammock itself is large, sturdy, and holds quite a bit. Very pleased with the result. Great price.

Tripod stability

Works great on my old tripod to give it stability to secure my equipment from tipping over. Should have bought something like this years ago.

Great accessory for a compact tripod

Mar 9, 2016

This is a very nice hammock for a tripod. I have a Slik Sprint Mini II and this give it added stability on windy days. It attaches easily to the tripod and has a great capacity to hold rocks, stones , or even a small camera bag. Only complaint is the velcro straps for the tripod legs are a little too big. Oben should reduce their size by at least 30%. I will probably cut a couple inches off each of the leg straps.

Clean Studio

I use them in my high school TV Studio. The work great for creating a place to store the Telex headset and belt packs, as we all other cables when not in use. I have not used them to add additional weight to a tripod...

Well built tripod hammock

Jan 18, 2016

This hammock is well built with tough and flexible materials. I am guessing it will support 10 lbs. easily, if you want to use it for tripod ballast. I use it for camera gear, not ballast. It's great for that second lens, or gloves, or extra whatevers. If I need ballast, I generally just hang my camera bag off the tripod. Unfortunately, you can't do both at the same time. It attaches to the tripod legs with tough Velcro straps that come on and off very easily, but once on, won't pull off.

A Helpful Little Helper

Jan 5, 2016

The plastic materials, front, back and the trimmings of the Oben STB-10 are pretty strong. I put one vegetable tie, the red wire, with each Velcro tie to make sure the ties came with the unit stay secured tied to the tripod legs. Make sure it is not too big for your tripod when open. I have not used any other tripod aprons. I believe this is a very good product for the price paid. I agree that Velcro ties are not the best if you want to put the lenses or any breakables on the apron. Other than that, the apron deserves a 5 star rating.

Great dual purpose item for tripod

Dec 29, 2015

As my headline describes I have found the Oben tripod hammock serves two purposes and does so impeccably. I often shoot wildlife with an Oben tripod with my Sony A7rII and a Sony 70-400mm lens. I virtually always have an additional lens or two (usually my Carl Zeiss 135mm f1.8 and a Carl Zeiss 500mm f1.4) and often find myself trying to figure out where to put the additional two lenses when the ground is wet or dusty/dirty. I use the hammock as a... Show More

Rock Steady

Oct 8, 2015

I bought this product to help me photograph a Super Moon Eclipse, and I am glad I did. I was in a remote area to document this rare occurrence, and I wasn't going to leave anything to chance. That night the wind picked up as the sun made it's way down. No problem- I simply attached this handy device to my tripod and loaded it with rocks. It gave me the shake-free performance I needed to take long exposures. A must for anyone who shoots outside!

Not as practical and useful as hoped

Mar 27, 2015

I had intended to use this hammock on a full-size camera tripod, to put accessories in and also to weigh it down and stabilize it when taking longer exposures. In practice, though, the product fell short. The fasteners are just velcro strips, and they do not cinch tightly around the tripod leg (a cinch like on backpack straps would've been better). They just slide down the tripod leg until they come to the joint, so I cannot place it at any height I want. Though it seems well made, it seems too big and awkward on the tripod and just gets in the way. At least it wasn't too expensive!
