An upgrade worth the money
My previous system had an Intel i7-2600K doing the work. To say that the i7-8700K blows it away is stating the obvious. It's faster and more efficient in every way. Video encoding is more than 3X faster in my few tests. 7th & 8th generation Intel CPUs also have the necessary hardware to playback even UHD Blu-ray. In my case it was time for a system upgrade and there were a lot of choices. Last generation's 7700K had come down in price and AMD Ryz... Show More

As Expected, It's Faster than a 6700K
I bought this processor to upgrade my system that I use for editing RAW images shot with my Sony a7R III. My previous processor was the 6700K. I skipped the 7th Gen processors because there wasn't much difference and I didn't feel the need to upgrade. After using the a7R III, image editing became much more demanding and I felt I needed a little boost. After installing the 8700K there is a huge improvement in editing (and improvement all around in... Show More

Extremely powerful CPU (If you can tame it)
why I chose this CPU: I wanted something that could multitask (Stream) while maintaining high fps (144hz) in games. I have been using this CPU for around a month or so now. It's an moster but ran VERY VERY HOT, I have mine cooled by a X62 liquid cooler and is as hitting temps of 90c stock. I sent my chip put to silicon lottery for a delid, and then I overclocked my chip to 5.2 Ghz at 1.415V which is quite good. the temps after the delid, the ma... Show More

Works Great and awesome temps. 5 stars for cpu, 6 for B&H CS
CS=Customer support. I've reviewed this product already but can't figure out how to edit my previous review so I'm writing this to cancel the more negative review I gave it earlier. The first review I gave 3 stars because I bought this in a bundle with an intel creativity bundle and received a different (and personally less interesting) bundle. However, B&H customer service reached out and corrected the mistake quickly and politely so I need to cancel out that last review with a great one. Would absolutely buy from B&H again.

Be Aware
If you still use Windows 7 operating system (and some of us did) this processor will not let you run Windows 7. Microsoft has decide not to support intel generation 8 processors in Windows 7. When I first booted up into windows 7 the mouse didnt work because with this processor and windows 7 that wasnt possible. Still cant believe Microsoft has done this but live and learn I guess. In windows 10 it runs fine. It is fast. Guess Im going to have to get used to windows 10.

Solid processor
Using this processor paired with the Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler. Keeps a consistent 30-ish C temp at idle and maybe between 40s - 50s C during gaming. Probably wont require the liquid cooling but I did that as an option to overclock in a few years and stave off an upgrade in a while whenever games become more demanding. Pair this with 32 gigs of DDR4 RAM and the Nvidia RTX 2070 and your rig will feel unstoppable right now.

Exceeded my expectations!
I was in need of a fast processor with at least 6 cores and 12 threads. For my work and pleasure, which is audio and video editing - I'm not a pro, not yet - this processor is working out beautifully! I can render video in the background, upload video or other projects in the background, and still have enough power to surf the web or start creating a new project. While it is not and i9 it is certainly a great CPU for the price

It's Amazing
Before I got this processor I had a dual core 3.3 gz intel processor. It was trash. The only game that needs all of the processing power possible is Arma 3, which I can now play at high/very high settings. My performance overall has been trippled. I have the noctual d15 mounted as my fan. I'd recommend this if you have anything below an i5 7600k. If you've got above that, wait for the price to go down a bit.

Everything it promised
Six of the fastest CPU cores in the world plus hyperthreading on a mainstream socket, this CPU is what many of us have been waiting for. My sample achieved 5.0GHz and probably could do a little more, but I need 24/7 stability, so right now it is running at 4.6GHz at 1.19V to keep temperatures in check. I'm very satisfied, even though I had to pay over the MSRP due to scarcity, it seems worth it.

Everything we needed plus some
After being backordered, this item proved to be worth the wait. It easily powers our min-ATX VR build paired with a 1080GTX Ti and 64GB of memory. Removing bottlenecks for this thing was important so we went with NVMe SSDs. In any case. Very capable chip, with adequate cooling it's blown everything away we've thrown at it. My students will be able to press this thing hard for quite some time.

Performs much better than expected.
Ive upgraded from a 5820k to the 8700k. I do see a noticeable improvement with gaming and raw file post processing with LR. Its simply a more efficient cpu. If you have an open chassis and use a easy liquid cooling HS, things get better. I havent overclocked it yet, I dont see the need with turbo reaching 4.7ghz. Hackintosh is definitely possible with this platform. No regrets upgrading.

Upgrade from fx 8350
I mean it's a day and night difference I couldn't be happier. I had a and FX-8350 16gb ddr3 1866mhz ram and a Nvidia gtx 1080 and upgraded my ram to 16gb ddr 3466mhz 8700k with the same GTX 1080. My fps alone in cs go doubled to tripled and in pubg with half my settings on ultra I consistently get 144fps majority of the time with it sometimes dipping into the 130's.

Great performance right out of the box.
Coupled with a Noctua NH-D15 air cooler and everything at stock/default settings, I encode hour long videos using. The CPU was at usage 96% capacity, temp at 65C with the CPU fan at 575 rpm and all cores running at or above 4.2GHz. Haven't tried overclocking yet, but looks like plenty of room. Certainly is great performance straight out of the box

Worth waiting for!
At the time I ordered this CPU it was on backorder. It shipped on the date the customer service rep said it would and it came in good packaging, undamaged. It will be going in an ASUS motherboard with Z370 chipset, required for these 8th gen chips. I'm replacing an i7 920 (yeah that's a 1st gen chip!) and its due time.

It is what you think it is - Incredible
If you're looking at this CPU, chances are you already know what it's capable of. Your PC will sing and fly through everyday tasks and high refresh gaming all while streaming. However, if you're planning to just game, consider the i5 variant as they are on par with each other in benches.

Excellent performance
Very good performance for gaming - maintain Good temperature under heavy gaming load( under 70 C for cheap air cooling fans and overclock to 4.8Ghz) Great FPS performance compare to previous generation and competitors. I didn't test on heavy programs as I don't have yet.

Good Value Processor
I installed the 8700K processor on an Asus Prime Z370-A motherboard. Out of the box it scored around 1400 on cinebench with peak temperature of 60 degrees Celsius (noctua nh-d15 cpu cooler). Overclocking to 5ghz scored a 1621 on cinebench with peak temp at 80 degrees Celsius.

Beautiful Processor
I just matched this with an ASUS Prime Z-370 A. This is a great processor. I though about getting an i9, but this is a lot less costly and I can't imagine how anything could be faster. I never overclock. I'm using the CPU's graphics. I'm not a gamer.

Powerful CPU!
Super quick processor! Overclocked easily to 5.0ghz with a 240mm AIO with average temps normally around 65 degrees celsius, with peaks of 75. Intel UHD graphics is not bad at all, and can run some older games at mid-high settings at 1080p.

Its still an excellent processor in 2019
Even though its more than a year old this processor (K version) is a beast. If you get a good cooler (such as Noctua d-15s) the 8700k stays cool just fine and even with a mild overclock (4.7 or 4.8) it outperforms my high expectations.

Great CPU
I upgraded from a 6700K, even though many people wouldn't recommend that. The extra cores/threads totally make it worth it IMO. No regrets; especially since I was able to sell my 6700K and mobo to make this that much more affordable.

Very popular processor
You find great reviews everywhere about this processor. I expected the price to go down, but it actually has been going up due to popularity. 6 cores with 12 threads. It should remain a top processor for a long time.

Doesn't come with any cooler.
I didn't know that when I purcased it, so I had to spend more money on a water cooler... I wish this information was clear in the first place. But it is a wonderful processor. I have nothing against it.
