Manfrotto 391RC2 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

Sturdy Tripod
Nice, sturdy tripod. I prefer the lever leg locks of this model over the twist type of other models.

What an upgrade
Ive been doing real estate photography for about a year now. My previous tripod, also carbon fibers, was a four section device. Very cumbersome to adjust the height. This unit is much easier to raise and lower. The ball head is considerably better in every way. Highly recommended.

Love it!
This is such a sturdy ball head! I use it to hold my painting palette and it doesn't move or come loose. The quick release plate makes it very convenient and fast to set up and tear down my equipment for plein air. Love it!!

New Fan!
After many years of using an aluminum tripod, I made the commit to carbon fiber. Pro friends said to quit stalling and I'm glad I made the move. Solid, sturdy tripod that works really well. Quick release clamps make adjusting the legs easy. The ball head clamps tight right where I need it to. I'm impressed with the workmanship and quality of the product.

great tripod
Ive had 3 manfrotto tripods, and Ive never been disappointed. This tripod is pretty light weight and feels very sturdy. The 3 way pan tilt head is way better than a ball head for realestate photography, much easier to get level. The only con I have is, the clips on the legs. They snap back hard and fast so watch your fingers! I pinch my fingers on those clips at least once a day. All in all, this is my favourite tripod I've had so far!

Quick adjustments are easy
I quite like this ball head, bought to replace another Manfrotto head. It adjust quickly and easily. My only concern is that the squeeze grip is quite stiff. I wonder how long it will be before my hand strength is no longer sufficient to operate it. (I'm in my 60s and have some arthritis.)

Good news ...for tripod and bald head
i am a newbie to photo. after reading reviews, i decided on the Manfrotto. it is carbon...so lite weight. it appears to be rock solid even with my camera equipment on top-- there is no movement taking pics. i am using a rebel t2i with a 70-300 lens. i am outdoors mostly...love wildlife and natural landscapes. i am satisfied, however it is overkill for this newbie. Life is an adventure.

Strong Easy to Operate Tripod
I was replacing a light weight tripod that was too flimsy for a Nikon D750 and the big Nikkor 200-500mm zoom. The Manfrotto handles this combination solidly in the wind. The leg quick-release locks are beefy, giving you good leverage to flip open. While their tension comes adjusted, there is a tension adjustment for later if needed. The leg angle has three angles of adjustment. The legs slide quicky into position. I took a shot with the M... Show More

Extraordinarily Stable!
Having used a smaller, lightweight tripod for more thhan 3 years, I had no idea how much a heavier, very stable tripod would help my shooting. I take multiple bracketed photos (up to 9 shots per bracket) in my real estate photography, so this is huge for me! This is not a travel unit (it IS heavy), but so worth the money. The tilt head is quick and easy to use, and the swing arm is a great addition.

Perfect for a Real Estate Photographer
I currently shoot real estate with a Canon 5D Mark IV with a Sigma 12mm ART Lens. It's a really heavy system. This head keeps my heavy camera stable and secure and still let's me easily make adjustments for leveling it out as I go from one room to the next.

Light and strong
Mainly used in the field for landscape shooting paired with a RRS Bh-40 head. The extendable center column helps when you have to stand significantly above the tripod feet (eg when standing on a rock in a stream with the tripod feet in the water). The ability to use the center column horizontally is not something for which I've ever felt the need. But, it doesn't get in the way if you don't use it. While not a super featherweight, it does not add significant weight to the pack and is easy to carry in hand or over the shoulder and still locks into a solid base.

Excellent Tripod
This is the first Manfrotto that I've owned and I've not been disappointed. It sets up fast and I really like the 90 degree column for macro work. I mated it up with the Manfrotto Xpro 3 way pan and tilt head and a rail system for macro work. Very happy with this setup.

Works great!
I have aGitzo carbon fiber tripod with aWimberley Arca-Swiss type WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II that I take out in the field and an aluminum Manfrotto tripod and head that I use in my studio. This plate tightly secures to my camera bodies, has a low profile, has a flat bottom, and works great with both tripod systems. The flat bottom lets the camera sit flat on a surface instead of tipping to one side as I've experienced with other Arca-Swiss plates that I've tried, so it's better and is compatible with both systems. I find it to be a perfect solution for use on these tripod systems.

Indispensable accesorio

Quality
This tripod isn't cheap in any sense of the word. It is money well spent. Very easy to operate. The controls are firm and the tripod is light enough to strap on and go. I would recommend this tripod to both professional and beginner.

Great buy for use separately
These products are both great buys for use independent of each other. The MT055XPRO3 only has a weight rating of 19.8lbs and the 405 Pro head weighs in at 16.5lbs. Unless your camera/lens together only weigh 2.7lbs or less, I would not recommend using these together.

Great Tripod
Was looking for a good stable tripod to use my spotting scope on and to digiscope with, added 502Ah head and some spike feet, stable not much vibration from the carbon fiber

Great enough to buy again
I've been buying the CX line for several years now. My 190 was recently stolen and I decided to "upgrade" and get the slightly taller 55 version. My only regret is that the older version without the ability to take the center post horizontal has evidently been discontinued. I didn't really need that for this tripod since I've put a Wimberly gimbal-style head on it. I do like the newer leg latches.

Love it so far
This is exactly what I wanted in a tripod and compared to the more expensive brands, I think this one will suit my needs just fine. I like the unique way that I can use this tripod for all types of photography and its quick versatility and adjustments are what I love most.

I don't like it
After owning two Bogen Manfrotto tripods for years, I was excited to buy a new Manfrotto. Not happy with this tripod. The legs are sticky and difficult to extend and collapse, the clamps don't work very well, a variety of things loosen up, and the legs are too tight or too loose to pull apart to set it up. The feet eventually fall off, so buy some extras. Not a quality piece of equipment.

Leg Angle Locks = Broken Nails
90% of this tripod is great. Light, strong, easy to get up and down. That 90 column lock is DECE, but... The flattening legs... the angle locks. I havent been able to get them to work at all. Its almost like theyre defective compared to how easy the rest of the tripod is to deal with. I tried my best to get them to work, but ended up breaking off my left thumbnail. It seems I may not be strong enough to activate them, which is really strange to me, that the hardware would require that kind of pressure to function.

Not an Arca-type head
Don't get this if you are trying to use it for an RRS plate. It won't fit.

Worlds ahead of a ball head
I shoot mostly real estate photos with this unit. I find my work goes much quicker and smoother using this unit than a ball head unit. The mechanism allows me to get level shots every time with a lot less hassle than ball units. That said I do notice that there is a slight discrepancy between the horizontal level on this head and the horizon line on my Nikon D7200 so I tend to use the camera's horizon in conjunction with this unit's vertical leve...
