USB 3.0 has a much lower latency than USB 2.0 The USB 3.0 improves upon communication model and reduces transmission latency by minimizing polling, lowering CPU usage, and allowing devices to transmit data as soon as it is ready. USB 3.0: 1.3ms latency......750 iops USB 2.0: 6ms latency!!.......200 iops Actually, additional 6ms latency (18ms round-trip latency at 512 samples) is too much for piano players and also for music producers which have a huge volume of virtual instruments that have dedicated audio effects. If you assign 256 samples into buffer, you have 6ms output latency at 44khz (256 / 44100 = 0.0058 sec = 6ms) and therefore you have 12ms latency in output trough USB 2.0 and 7.3ms latency trough USB 3.0! I can't produce orchestral music or even playing Piano over than 13ms latency. In worst case scenario I need to set buffer to 512 samples due to a large project and this cause to have around 13ms round-trip latency and therefore I strongly recommend that use professional PCIe sound cards such as RME AIO instead of USB 2.0 audio interfaces or going with PreSonus Studio 192 which has ultra low-latency trough USB 3.0. Having come from a Focusrite firewire interface, I was excited to get into a modern Presonus interface. The sound is great, however, the operation with ProTools is difficult. The primary issue being the reliance on the UniversalControl mixer. Unlike Focusrite, or any other interface I've used, I couldn't do a playback mix straight from ProTools. You HAVE to migrate into the UniversalControl mixer to do playback mixes. Having this additional step to the workflow where the DAW outputs 1-2 just map into the UC Mixer and not routed straight to the main outs on the interface was a deal breaker. If you're using Studio One or you like the Universal Control utility, then definitely buy this unit. It sounds great. If, however, you're like me and don't want to have to rework your entire workflow, then unfortunately this isn't the unit for you. I am very disappointed it didn't meet my expectations (which were very high since it's a great sounding unit). ... More

Clean Preamps, iPad control. Winner.

My setup is a Studio 192 and DP88, I set up 16 line outs into 8 stereo pairs for headphone monitoring. Each headphone has individual control with an iPad. Tested with 4 simultaneous iPads (Air 2) and worked great. ProTools in low latency mode or Studio One monitoring pre-CPU there is near-zero latency. Universal Control allows for EQ/compress/gate on monitor or on print. If you're new to Presonus, there is a learning curve, but not a big hurdle. Great unit.

A nice step up

I bought the Presonus Studio 192 to upgrade my Presonus AudioBox 1818VSL. I read all the reviews and everything else I could find before "clicking the button" and I'm glad I did it. Upgrading was not without issues but by no means insurmountable. I use Studio One 4 Professional for my DAW and it naturally adapted to the Studio 192. I now have complete control of each input on the DAW - phantom power, gain and phase. The 8 line outs are now completely independent unlike the 1818VLS where outputs 1 and 2 were tied to main and 7 and 8 to the phones. I am still learning the new things this interface has to offer but I'm enjoying every minute. ... More

Built-in talkback, dim/mute, mono button, all great features. Flexible routing via Universal Control. Two headphone outs can be assigned separate mixes. I'm really happy with this.

I purchased a Studio 192 to upgrade my (Studio 2|6) current home studio to 8 Tracks (from 2) and got so much more. A DSP chip on-board = zero monitoring latency. The Universal Control software is excellent and integration with Studio One is good. The preamps/sound quality is great too. Highly recommeded, if you can find one. ProSoundGear.com has one left as of this writing.

Works great, easy plug n play. Adds 8 mic pre’s or line inputs via light pipe to UA apollo twin MKII. I chose this over others because I could leave the line ins connected with db25 breakout all of the time along with a snake to the mic pres and choose what I wanted via the front panel. No more plugging & unplugging. Great unit.

Cleanest. Easiest. By far the best interface for the price on the market. Super clean pre amps and saveable settings. Fat channel. Basically zero latency. If you use it with Studio One it integrates like butta. Game changing.
