Amazing Professional Interface

This interface is phenomenal ! It integrates perfectly in MOTU Digital Performer, but can also be used in a variety of other programs. The firewire speed is a major plus for this item, and its multiple inputs are perfect for any studio. The thing that sells me the most is the fact it has all the professional outputs you would need in any audio situation. We have 20 of these in our studio for multiple computers, and they're all linked together to create a massive input device if needed. The AES/ABU and SPDIF outputs are great for the traveling engineer, where output options are a must. You can be confident that your interface will work in virtually any studio environment with the amount of connectivity this device has . Bus power is an great feature for field recording as well as any mobile gigs. The PREAMPS ARE AMAZING! Very high gain, and a nice clean sound with no coloration at all. This interface even makes even standard SM 58 sound like a studio vocal mic. This is an all around sturdy device! ... More

I have been using the original Motu Traveler for the past 10 years with no issues at all. I'm downsizing my studio and taking out the mixing console. I needed a standalone solution for mixing my analog equipment, so with the Traveler, and Traveler MK3 , which has two ADAT inputs, and 8 analog, that can be daisy chained together via Firewire, allows input of up to 40 channels. This can be mixed directly from theTraveler hardware without turning on the computer. The DSP chip also has reverb, dynamics, and EQ. With a computer, you can mix using Cuemix FX without any CPU load on the computer. There are hardware controllers available to control Cuemix FX. This is easier than using the the Traveler's hardware controls. The Traveler can be bus powered through Firewire, or battery powered for mobile recording. I have never used this feature and if you don't need this mobile feature, you could easily use the Motu 828 MK3 instead. The other feature I use quite extensively are the on-board midi ports. I connect these to a Motu Midi Express router, and control all of my midi equipment from the Traveler. The Traveler MK3 has solved my studio space issues, the sound is very good, and works great as the hub for a live performance setup. ... More

This unit has almost every function I need for my live gigs. The four mic inputs allow for my 3 vocal mics plus bass guitar DI, the four 1/4" inputs allow for my stereo keys plus either electric drums or mp3 player for backing tracks. The firewire interface provides for playback of Cubase backing tracks on my 2015 MacBook Pro. When I have additional musicians, I can connect up to 2 additional adat equipped units (in my case an original Traveler and an 8pre USB) providing a total of 24 analog inputs using CueMix to send all audio out through the Traveler's main outs as well as separate headphone mixes. Although firewire is being rapidly phased out, this setup still provides a very compact and versatile live gig, especially when using powered speakers. Additional bonuses are the intergraded midi interface, SPDIF and AES/EBU digital i/o, versatile power options (buss power, wall wart or battery pack option) of the Traveler Mk3. This setup promises to serve me well for a few more years. MOTU equipment is rock solid. ... More

I am very happy. The features of on board DSP with great sounding effects and stand alone operation have me using the Traveler in more applications than my old hardware. Fits in my laptop bag so I can sneak it into work and get payed to play.

I'm using this product to record voice overs on location mainly, occasionally recording live musicians. It works just great. Pretty light too.
