I bought the P30 based on Wimberly recommendation for my lens Canon 300 2.8 IS. Even if you use a flash bracket, I don't think you need more than the P20 for a 300 2.8 IS so before you buy either the P20 or the P30, get your measuring device out and judge for yourself. I have a RRS flash bracket, so the double dovetail of this plate works perfect for that. In fact I don't know of anybody's flash bracket that will not fit this plate. If you look a... Show More

Solid and Secure - Perfect For Heavy, Valuable Lenses
These plates are sturdy, easy to mount and truly quick release, but secure in hold. I bought the longer plate for my 500mm lens several years ago and I've never had a spot of trouble. I bought the P30 plate for my 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. I generally hand hold my 500mm and my 100-400mm, but when it's time to put it on the Wimberley Sidekick, mounted on a heavy tripod, I know that these plates are secure when matched with equally robust and secure Arca-Swiss receptors.

Holds securely
I am using this to attach my Nikon 200-500mm lens to the Wimberly monopod gimbal head. The lip at the back of the plate allows a secure connection with the lens foot plate despite Nikon providing only one screw hole (Wimberly provides two screws.) I also recommend using the safety locking screws since at times the clamp will be loosened to balance the lens in the gimbal head. The Wimberly website has a list of lenses with the recommended foot plate length.

Wimberely is quality.
Wimberely was recommended to me by another pro. It is well constructed kit and is quality in every respect. Holds my 300mm securely on the C-12 clamp. Easy install on the tripod mount with detailed instructions. Great customer service at Wimberely as I had a technical question about the plate. IMHO it is bit long on my 300mm tripod mount but the Wimberely team said it was designed that way for balance.

Good product at a reasonable price.
I bought this plate to attach a newly aquired nikon 500mm lens to my tripod. It was easy to attach and included all of the hardware needed. It only took about 1 minute to accomplish the attachment - it even came with the allen wrench to tighten the mounting screws. The plate is very well made with a professional finish on it. If ever I need another plate, I will buy it again.

Quality made product
The Wimberly plate is mounted on our Nikon 70-200 lens. This plate is one step larger than listed in the recommended chart but it came with the extra screw required for the lens. The P30 plate fite the lens perfectly and works flawlessly with our Wimberly GH-200 gimball head. All of our cameras and lenses will use Wimberly hardware form now on.

This plate is very well machined and is the perfect tool to keep my camera and lens securely locked to the tripod head and yet easily is removed from the tripod head when needed.

Great Plate for heavy Telephoto lens
Recently I bought a Tamron 150-600mm. It is a large lens, and heavy. I needed a good solid plate to mount it in my ball head and gimbal adapter. This plate from Wimberley was the right size, and had a very appealing price. It fits perfectly, the lens is steady, and allows me to balance it in the gimbal very well. Great plate!

Works Great
This works greate with my Tamron 150-600mm lens. It screws on the single hole Tamron foot ok, the anti-rotation flange fits perfectly, and then I can quickly take my lens on and off a Jobu gimbal with an Arca-Swiss quick connect on a HM-J3D swing arm. I'm having a great time with this setup looking for birds in flight.

well made
It is a well made lens plate. It comes with all the screws you need, including the safety stops which are a nice feature. If weight of the equipment and space in the lens case are a concern and you want to shave off every gram you can, then you may also consider a replacement lens foot instead of a lens plate.

Works as I was told it would
A B&H tech suggested this plate while on the phone discussing my tripod and ball head options. It is a bit pricey for just a piece of metal but; like the tech said, it fit my Nikon 200-500mm lens perfectly and my Benro B2 Ball Head. It also will work for my Nikon 70-200mm VRII lens.

Wimberley P30 plate
I purchased this plate to use with my Sigma 150-600 lens. I had a shorter plate but on the tripod it did not balance. The longer plate lets me slide the lens/camera back so it balances on the tripod. This is the plate that Wimberley recommends for this lens and it works fine

Fit and functional
I use this on my Nikon 300mm f/4. The fit is secure and it gives me a bit more to grab on to when carrying the lens/camera combo by the tripod foot. I also rent longer lenses from time to time, and this long enough for most of the super zooms in the 150-600 mm range.

Wimberley Quality
I ordered this with my Wimberley 11 head to fit my canon ef300 f2.8 lens. it's a must if you are attaching a big lens to this or similar head. I recommend using the two small screws to avoid the lens sliding out when aiming up or down while loosening the clamp.

WORKS GREAT
I recently purchased the Tamron 150-600mm lens for use with my Nikon D610. This Wimberley P30 Quick Release (Arca-Swiss) Plate attaches perfectly to the Tammy foot tripod mount making it easy to mount the lens to the Arca-Swiss mount that is on the tripod.

Great plate
I bought this clamp to use with my 500mm f4 Nikon lens. It was very easy to install, and there is enough room for adjustment so that the lens is perfectly balanced on the Wimberly tripod head. It is solidly built and easy to use.

Worth it but not worth it
Grossly overpriced for a piece of metal with a screw in it but its much better than the alternatives. I was using a cheaper off brand plate and had trust issues with it. This is designed for the Wimberley Gimbal and works great.

Works great for Nikon 200-500 lens
This holds my lens securely. Fits on my Really Right Stuff BH-55 ball head securely. I used the safety stops they provide to prevent the plate from sliding off the ball head and they fit nicely into the recesses on the BH-55.

It just works!
Very high quality machining and finish. Fits on my Nikon 200-500 perfectly and I don't see it ever loosening up without my help. As with all Wimberley products, they may cost more, but you definitely get your money's worth!

Gimbal head plate for 300mm 2.8 nikon
This works great with the Nikon 300mm 2.8. this is the correct one and I even bought the P20 and P40 just to make sure I got it right. I can use the other plates on other lenses but this plate works excellent on this lense.
